Publisher's Summary

Soon-to-be college freshman Evie Claremont had hoped that once she'd arrived on Crestwood's campus, the nightmare that she'd been having would go away. It hasn't. She may be an inexperienced 17-year-old, but she's grounded... sane. She looks for rational explanations to even the strangest circumstances. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he's near, she feels an attraction to him - a magnetic kind of force pulling her toward him.

Unfortunately, Reed acts as if Evie's the worst thing that has ever happened to Crestwood...or him. But for some reason every time she turns around he's there, barging into her life. What is the secret that he's keeping from her? Evie's hoping that it's anything but what she suspects: That he's not exactly normal...and neither is she. So, maybe Crestwood won't be the making of her, but it could be the breaking of her. Evie's now left to wonder if the dark future her dream is foretelling is...inescapable.

    "Mysteriously Delicious!"

I love paranormal primal lust with a side dish of loaded mystery! It completely kept my attention. Evie is off to college only to run into a gorgeous upper classmen Reed who seems to loathe her existence and always seems to be around her even when she tries to avoid him. Evie finds comfort in her friends especially with a football player named Russell. Evie feels completely at home with Russell but completely in lust for Reed. Of course Evie is no ordinary girl and she is just finding out how special she really is. I'm off to the second book! I have high expectations now I hope it maintains the mystery and lust. Yes, Very credit worthy!

    "Really enjoyable"
Would you consider the audio edition of Inescapable to be better than the print version?

Loved it. Lots of turns and twists in the story line all the way to the end. Some parts are a little over juvenile (use of slang seems weirdly placed at times) but still very nicely written story. Love triangle causes a lot of angst, but looking forward to next book. Really liked the sound of the narrator! Worth the credit.

What did you like best about this story?

characters were nice, love triangle, unexpected bad guys and good gals in story which added suspense even to the end.

What about Emily Woo Zeller’s performance did you like?

    Loved her narration

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. It's long so requires more than one sitting.

"A great start to a captivating series"

This series is a great listen, and I quickly picked up the rest after finishing this one. A great plot, fun characters and narration that portrays each well, and sets off the storyline without overpowering it, as some narrations can. Evie's evolution into something new and unique is wonderful to follow along with. I think the only complaint I can make about the series is that her own personality and character doesn't seem to evolve with her changes. I don't get a strong sense of why she is such a riveting character, outside of the simple "rule" that angels are drawn to her - and not all are. So it's a strange dichotomy.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys young adult-style fiction with a definite supernatural twist. I'd listen to this again.

"Big Fan of Series! Excited for Audio Version!"

I am a huge fan of this series and I love listening to my audio books as well so this has been long awaited in my book! (pun intended)
Narrators in general can make or break a good book. Is this the case with Inescapable? Maybe so. There were many times I felt the cynicism, and sarcasm was lost on Miss Zeller. This key ingredient was one of the reasons I connected with this book, I understood the main character, Evie through and through. I do recommend listening to this series because AB is an incredible story teller with an exciting heart pounding twist on love, friendship and all things paranormal. Tell your friends and buy em' all!

I'm a big fan of Whispersync! My favorite genre is fantasy, YA and adult, but I'll occasionally listen to/read NA romance or space opera.

    "Very Twilight"

There was a lot of Twilight in this book-and I don't say that lightly, I mean it was really Twilightish in that book. Aside from the Twilightishness bothering me, the book was enjoyable.

    "Very Surprising!"
Where does Inescapable rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I bought this title on a special 2 for 1 offering by audible, not really understanding that it was a YA book. After listening to it for awhile, I became interested in the main characters and invested in what happened to them, especially Evie. When I finished listening to Inescapable, I immediately bought the next 2 titles and then the 4th as well. I also downloaded them to my spare iPod to share with my 13 yr old granddaughter, so we could listen to them together. Emily Woo Zeller is a fabulous narrator, there are so many voices and dialects in this series and you forget that it is only 1 person reading it!

What did you like best about this story?

Not predictable, there is really no way to know where it is going, especially by the time you get to book 4.

Would you listen to Inescapable again? Why?

The story sucks you in and holds you there.

    Any additional comments?

Inescapable is the first book in the Premonition Series by Amy A. Bartol. It is YA urban fantasy/paranormal book told from Evie’s POV.

I read about 4-5 books per week. Sometimes I read so much; I need to clear my head. I need a book that has all the feels and that is comfortable like coming home. That’s the Premonition Series for me. I’ve read Inescapable 10 times now, yet I haven’t written a review until now. BAD READER!

Evie Clairmont is a starting freshman at Crestwood College in Michigan. She meets two guys, Reed Wellington and Russell Marx. Russell makes her feel like she’s home. Reed wants her to go far away from Crestwood. He seems to know more about her than she knows about herself. After some heated confrontations, she finds Reed has a lethal pull on her that overshadows everything else, including Russell. She soon finds out what Reed knows about her and everything she thought she knew evaporates.

There are several facets that draw me to this series. First is the character of Evie Clairmont. Not only is she smart, she’s brave. She is loyal to a fault. I can’t count the number of time I read about her and think how much I love her character.

Second reason is Reed Wellington. He is at least 6’3” of hunky goodness with dark hair and bright green eyes. He is fierce fighter and will do anything for Evie. He says the most wonderful swoony things. He is my all time #1 book boyfriend.

Next, the secondary characters are as good as the main characters. Buns and Brownie are funny and loyal. They are Evie’s balance. I want them as friends. Zee and Russell is incredible. I want them at my back.

Lastly, if you never have read an Amy A. Bartol book, you are in for a treat. She words are poetic. I find myself rereading passages because the language is she uses is so beautiful. There are so many details I didn’t realize in this book that forecasted storylines in her other books in the series. I was like amazed when it all came together. This series is a must read and are addictive.

"Meh, Good Narrator somewhat boring Story"
Would you try another book from Amy Bartol and/or Emily Woo Zeller?

The narrator is excellent. The story not so much.

Was Inescapable worth the listening time?

I enjoyed the first book, but found the sequel to be boring. The story from Russel's perspective was tedious. The "woe is me" theme to his dialogue was tiresome. Sadly, I was unable to finish the audiobook. If I owned a physical copy of the book I would have skimmed over parts of the story that were boring. The audiobook was returned. (Also, Russel's "southern drawl"..... Whew. Painful.)

I liked the concept and will be getting the next book in the series. I wouldn't say it was particularly smart or gripping but the story flowed with a good enough twist to keep you engaged.

    "Paranormal Romance"

Everyone was raving about this book so you can imagine I was chomping at the bit when I could download it, I listened with baited breath straight away.
First off Zeller narrates wonderfully, it's the story, plot and characters that did not do for me, there was nothing new and I found the love triangle confusing, without giving away the plot it is difficult to explain, suffice to say it was as if Evie wanted her cake and the whole patisserie shop.
I found the plot spread too thin, but if you like romantic entanglements, with a hint of trouble to come, peppered with the odd bit of action this might be for you.
I don't like to be harsh but I was just plain bored obviously not for me, premise was great, just did not deliver.. don't let me put you off though there's lots of people who would disagree and swear by this new series.
