Publisher's Summary

One of the few white kids in a rural Kentucky town, Logan Whyte always kept to his own kind out of self-preservation. He never considered himself racist, but that didn't stop him from falling in with the wrong crowd--one that celebrated hate as much as he fought it--or from ending up in prison for eight years on an armed-robbery charge.

A successful, educated black woman, Katie Andreassen was tired of being accused of betraying her own race. Her lonely isolation, coupled with her grief over losing her mother, inspire her to create a new pen pal program at Capshaw State Penitentiary, where her father is a warden.

The program brings the unlikely pair together, but Logan and Katie soon find themselves forced to overcome past fears and prejudices. Their friendship doesn't come easily, especially when threatened by a crooked lawyer with a grudge and a best friend who betrays her promise to help.

When faced with a world that forces them apart, Logan and Katie must show everyone else what they have discovered: that love is, in fact, colorblind.

    "Phenomenal IR Contemporary Romance Read"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would totally recommend this audiobook to a friend because it teaches so many lessons on love and people in general.

    Any additional comments?

Such a beautiful piece of work. I cannot believe how engrossed I was with this novel. At first, I thought I'd be completely turned off, but Inger Iversen did such a phenomenal job with this story. I love the interracial relationship and how it was too dramatic, I love the characters and storyline.

Logan Whyte was an extremely ignorant guy. I understand he had gone through some things and learned other things (as crazy as they were), but he was just too much of arse for me. There were few times I liked him, but then when he went back to being his racist self, I felt bothered by his character. He was written in a way that as much as I hated him, I still felt for him and wanted him to come to terms and just get over his behavior. All in all, Logan needs to hash his younger years, leave them behind him and be a true man of integrity and not one of an 10 year old boys feelings.

Katie was just a girl of roller coaster emotions. Not feeling as if she was black enough because her step dad is white and her mom is dead. She has only one friend, Teal and between her and the step dad she never really got to experience much in her life on her own accord. She is the outsider of black people which totally sucked.

The relationship between Logan and Katie was awesome up until race became an issue. I adore how this book teaches that love is color blind and based on emotions from the heart. The hear can't see color, only emotions and words. Truly profound.

All the side characters added to the perfection of this novel. Overall, I enjoyed this beauty and definitely will check out more from this author.

    "Arrestingly Amazing! ;)"

I'm a big fan of Inger Iversen and Incarcerated was everything I'd hope for and more!

    A) Unique story line. I mean a prisoner and a warden's daughter? You just know that this is going to be intense!
    B) Super hot and sexy scenes.
    C) Did I mention the hot sexy scenes? HELLLLO!
    D) The narrater did a fantastic job!

Seriously, I can't recommend this book enough! It tugs at your heart and delves into sensitive subjects. Your heart dips, dives, and soars while getting to know the characters Iversen has masterfully crafted. Also, who doesn't love a total bad boy with a huge heart?

Pick up this book on Audible and do it now!

    "Awesome story"
Where does Incarcerated rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Without a doubt right at the top, I love the story. It did take me a while as usual to adjust to being read to, I am so used to moving at my own pace or going back and rereading as I go.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Incarcerated?

When Katie and Logan met in person, I think it was one of the best moments in the book. Love can move mountains sometimes.

What about Olivia Peppersmith’s performance did you like?

She was so enthusiastic about the reading, she showed that everything mattered with the tone of her voice. She made the characters come to life. But in the same breath I didn't care for how clipped she made her words, enunciation is very important but at times it just annoyed me.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There are moments in this book that make you warm and fuzzy for sure. As for crying no I never went there I guess I had a lot of faith.

What made the experience of listening to Incarcerated the most enjoyable?

I was given this for an honest review.
This book was great. I loved the fact that Inger added the difficulties of being in an interracial relationship. Even though it all worked out in the end, I was glad that Katie and Logan faced their problems head on.

    "A steamy love story"
Would you consider the audio edition of Incarcerated to be better than the print version?

No, the story was definitely the high point in my opinion.

What did you like best about this story?

The author's writing style & the beautiful love story were the best parts for me.

Have you listened to any of Olivia Peppersmith’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No, I have not.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, definitely. I was chewing on my fingernails waiting to see what would happen next.

    Any additional comments?

Incarcerated is the first book in the Love and War stand alone series by Inger Iversen. This was a steamy-very steamy-contemporary story about a somewhat sheltered black woman and a white male inmate at the local prison. A white inmate with loose ties to white supremacists. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect when I read the synopsis of this book but I'm very glad I gave it a chance. This book was something completely new for me and I really enjoyed it.

I couldn't help but become interested in the characters, the descriptions and the story itself right from the beginning. This story was so much more than I expected and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Rife with emotion; the bonds of friendship, the stirrings of love and the confusion of beliefs shattered in a moment of realization. This book outshone my expectations and left me hungry for more from this fantastic author. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves steamy romance and fantastic writing!

    "Great book! awesome read!"

I loved this book and thought it was well written. Dealing with race issues in any book is diffiuclt but I love the way it's written without offending.

Through the book you can see how both Katie and Logan grow and learn to let go of the past. For Katie it was not allowing her friends and family to continue treating her like a child and for Logan it was getting past his race issues.

I do think that on occasions teal and Katie's father go a little to far on trying to protect her. And although they might have been trying to look out for her interfering with a grown woman's life was not the way to do it. I thought more than once teal was a home wrecking hooker and that she was trying to be Katie's mother and not her best friend. Although at the end teal started acting like a best friend should and I don't hate her as much.

And I'm glad that by the end of the boom you can see the changes that everyone was making for the better and I loved it because shows that no matter what you went through I life you can always come out on top.

    "BEAUTIFUL"
Where does Incarcerated rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    10/10. One of my favorites!

What did you like best about this story?

The writing and idea. Realistic love story wrought with social issues but well done.

What about Olivia Peppersmith’s performance did you like?

She struggled to create the right dialect but wasn't t familiar enough with each regional speech style. Great job with Katie.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely! Did housework and listened start to finish non-stop. It s that good!

    Any additional comments?

Buying this one is being good to yourself. 😊

"Tough to write about racism and romance"

Wish the story could have ended differently it was too abrupt for me wanted more. Not sure if the romance was realistic but the social issue was spot on the money.
I would find it hard to love a man like this but the author did a really good job. Very good book.
