Publisher's summary

Jasmine 'Jazz' Parker, Jefferson County SWAT’s only female sniper, can thread the eye of a needle with a bullet. But she carries with her a secret from her past that she thought she buried for good at the age of 15. Two years ago she even drove away the one man she believed she could love - ex–Army Ranger turned reporter Luke Montgomery - to keep her past hidden. But now, in a fleeting second, the time it takes for one clean shot, one perfect hit, to save the life of the governor’s daughter, Jazz’s world begins to crumble around her.

When Luke splashes her face and name across the front page of the newspaper, a vicious enemy from her past returns seeking vengeance without compromise. Jazz is forced to turn to the one man she can never have before she and everyone she cares about pays the ultimate price. Full of explosive action and almost unbearable suspense, In Her Sights is a relentless, steamy thriller surprisingly infused with soul and poignancy.

Romantic Suspense @7.34

Jazz is a female sniper on Jefferson County's SWAT team, she has worked hard to not only get the position but to prove that it was the right choice. Jazz has been running for most of her life, never letting people in - it was one of the main issues between her and her ex-boyfriend, reporter Luke Montgomery. After a successful SWAT mission Luke writes an article about Jazz, catapulting her into the spotlight. Unfortunately Jazz has never quite felt that she fits in, by keeping her distance from her team members she has caused a rift, the rift grows bigger as Luke's article brings an enemy from her past into her present. Jazz has to open up about who she is in order to save those she cares about.

I really enjoyed this one, lots of angst and tension and the characters are intriguing. Like most first in series books it was the secondary characters that kept catching my attention and I can't wait for their turn in the spotlight. The parts that stood out for me where Jazz, having cast a female in a typically male profession and having her succeed was inspirational. The Montgomery family on a whole, I enjoyed the glimpses into their lives an their interactions and Joy. I enjoyed her presence in the story.

I found Emily Durante to be just ok with the delivery of the story. Nick Podehl read one of the other books in the series and he was much better. i hope they stick him in future books.

Having said that I was entertained and overall the book scored a sold 4 stars.

Nice..

Any additional comments?

Great read/listen. Some of the 1 star reviews on Amazon complained that it was to romantic, too many thoughts of lust, too much sex. Well, that's why I decided to read it. It had just enough of everything. I would definitely read this author again and recommend this book.
As to the narrator? She did an awesome job with everyone's voice.

good start to a series

I liked this first book in the series. I have read a lot of romantic suspense and I think the thing I really liked about it was the author has strong male characters with dangerous occupations and ex military backgrounds and portrayed them as such without every other word being a cuss word or f...ing this and f...ing that. These guys were believeable and very male and dominant guys wothout being crude. My hats off to you Robin P. The narrator was good and I liked the storyline. I will get the next story right away to see which brother is the lead character.

Awesome!

I haven't read any Robin Perini books before, but this was great! I'm looking forward to the next in series. The plot was awesome and took so many twists and turns it was impossible to jump ahead with any accuracy. This book grabbed me from the get-go and never turned loose. Don't miss it!

Story if a woman sniper and cop

I hate that the author made Jazz a wimpy crybaby. For goodness sake she is a sniper and a cop!! The author makes her into a weak woman who needs a man to take care of her! Also the narrator gives her voice a child like sound that is definitely not what you would hear from a woman who is a cop!!

Great story, poorly executed

This audio book is a great story poorly executed. The story has a great foundation but the dialogue is so trite and corny it ruins much of what could have been great. In the same fashion the narrative could have been great if not for the squeaky and overly gruff attempts at different voices that change throughout the book. If I could ask one thing though, it would be that the narrator never attempt a laugh or a baby voice again while being recorded. The non dialogue narrative is great though, and I’d love to hear something from Emily out of a third person genre. As for the author, I feel her dialogue will get better as she continues and I’m looking forward to seeing her progress from good, to great.

OK book

A little slow at times. Liked all of the characters, and will read the second book to see how the Montgomery 's proceed. Jazz was as strong sniper, but sort of a weak woman. Unexpected more out of her to have the job she had.

I love suspense romance novels

I wish I had liked jasmine a bit more but honestly, even though the story was good and the suspense was prevalent, I just couldn’t care what really happened to her.
The narrator was pretty good but too much of a Canadian (??) accent for a story based in Colorado.

Dreams are real

Jazz is the only female sniper on the SWAT team and keeps to herself. When her ex, journalist Luke, writes a front page story about her part in a recent incident, Jazz is livid! She has a past that she’s worked on keeping secret. However, she now has an IA officer breathing down her neck and a stalker in the wings. Luke is in the middle of his own investigation for a story...corruption in the sheriff’s dept. When someone starts threatening Jazz and seems to be setting her up, Luke steps in to help. The pair team up to solve who is behind Jazz’s stalking as well as find the dirty cop. Will they get out off this investigation alive? Lots of twists and turns and you would never guess the identity of the bad guy. Fantastic book...loved the HEA.
