Publisher's summary

It's Christmas in Half-Moon Hollow and newly turned vampire Iris Scanlon-Calix wants to make Gigi's first visit home from college as normal and special as possible. It's taken months for Iris to work up the nerve to spend time around her baby sister after her vampire transition, so she enlists help from Jane Jameson and Company to keep her blood-thirst under control and assure Gigi's safety. Gigi, on the other hand, has problems of her own, including the demise of her relationship with high school sweetheart, Ben, and a looming job interview with Ophelia Lambert, the scariest potential employer in the Hollow. And then there's the small matter of the handsome, frustrating vampire who keeps appearing in Gigi's peripheral vision, then disappearing before she can talk to him. Can the Scanlon sisters negotiate romantic problems, vampire politics, and Christmas cookie disasters and enjoy a relatively normal holiday?

This audiobook is FREE at Audible!!! I don't know if it will be like that forever, but it looks like it's staying that way for the month in December. If you've EVER debated listening to an audiobook, this is a good one to try it out with. The audiobook is just under 4 hours, which sounds like a lot especially during the busy holiday season, but it's really not. Here's just a short list of when I listen to my audiobooks (which I load onto my iPod): wrapping presents, driving, any housework (dusting, vacuuming, and esp. folding laundry...KEY audiobook time and it makes these chores a little less dreadful), cooking, crafting, even while shopping (I always have my earbuds in while cruising around Target or the grocery store.) I love that I can continue reading even when I'm busy. Audiobooks are perfect for that!

So onto the actual review. I'll admit, I'm a HUGE FAN of the Molly Harper books on audio. They are always full of humor and when listening in the car, I don't have to worry too much about what's coming next if kids are with me (NOTE: my 18 yo son also loves these books.) This book is a novella and I is obviously a transition book leading up to Gigi's real book (I'm hoping that's the next release in this series.) As such, it does leave some unanswered questions.

Gigi is at a transition point in her life. She's about to finish college and embark upon a new career. She's also dissatisfied with her long-time relationship with Ben. But it's Christmastime and she's home for the holidays with her older sister, who's a mite over-protective and isn't going to be thrilled about any of these changes coming in Gigi's life. The whole Half-Moon Hollow gang appears and the normal hilarity they bring with them everywhere. This book, just like all the other of Molly Harper's was simply fun.

The book is fun and entertaining and I thought it was the perfect length for this month's audio for me. I've always been a HUGE FAN of Amanda Ronconi's narration, but I had one tiny complaint for this one....she changed Collin's accent. I want his old accent back...hehe.....yeah, minor.

It was another fun installment, but now I want Gigi's story so I can learn more about the mystery man!! Soon, PLEASE.....

You Can't Go Wrong With Molly& Amanda!!

I loved this novella!! We get to see Iris now that she's a vamp, more if Cal's sexy accent, and more of GiGi's antics. I hope there is a follow up book with GiGi's HEA with the mysterious blonde. I love the mix of characters in this story. All the "aunties & uncles" helping her out & giving her advise. Will Cal or Iris change her?
Bring it on! Please!

Not long enough, just got into it when it ended

Where does Free: I'm Dreaming of an Undead Christmas rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Compared to other audios I have listed to I would rate it about a 3 for story, 4 for narration. Now that is comparing it to others that I have listened to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gigi, Gigi's sister and Cal I liked the best. The why would be the offbeat humor, they were funny and likeable. I even found them believable and more like a family would be today.

Have you listened to any of Amanda Ronconi’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I have not listen to anything by Amanda Ronconi. I did find her voice to be pleasant and likeable. I did enjoy her different voices and thought she did a wonderful job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes I thought the book was very cute and funny. I did chuckle and smile a lot.

Any additional comments?

I thought this was a very interesting and at time funny read. The author had me until the end which ended just as the story began. I am giving it a 3.5 rounding it up to a 4 star. I did enjoy the offbeat humor and at time did chuckle. This is not your usually Christmas story not even close, what the author gives you is a story about a young lady trying to find her place in a family that changed not a normal family. Her sister has just been changed to a vampire at her wish, now they must learn to live with Gigi being human and her sister being a new married vampire

I did love Cal (who has been a vampire for a many, many years) in his missed place in time, you can tell he was an old guy who still lives back in the old days when men ask the young girls father for their daughters hand. I thought that was darling and I loved her sister who stood up for herself and demanded to be heard. Gigi was a sweetheart who knows what she wanted in life. There are a lot of great characters here but I didn’t see this as a romance, a cute story leading up to the main story of Gigi which will be a romance. It just wets your appetite for the main story. This book leaves you with a lot of unanswered question but it does get you interested in reading the next book in the series.

This is the first book I have read of Molly’s and I do like her sense of humor. She did make me chuckle and smile through a lot of it. The story was easy to follow, her writing style is different but nice and refreshing. This was to short a read for me to say whether or not I would be interested is reading more for this author. I will say she has wet my appetite to look into another one of her stories. It was a fun read that I did enjoy, just wish it had a better ending.

Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi do it again

I have spent most of the day giggling as I listened to this book. I really hope there is a complete story following as I want to know where this goes in detail and it is SOOOO set up for a full story.

The story great, all snark expected is there, the voice / narrator - awesome. I am loving these additions to the Hallow and expansion of the characters from Jane's world. Molly's other stories are great but this is my favorite group of characters so seeing their antics grow is just great.

It was free, but even if it wasn't I would have happily paid for or used a credit for this books, so go get it now and listen.

ABSOLUTE PERFECTION, WRITING AND NARRATION!

I LOVE Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi! Together it is absolute perfection in listening. I love the snarky whit that Ronconi melds into the continually moving forward storyline. The characters are rich and play off one another perfectly. Amanda Ronconi voice is perfect for this type of writing. This is NOTHING bad about these books for me. I will buy whatever they produce, even if they wrote and read the phone book, bahahah! Seriously, this is my type of listen and is a perfect 10 for me.

light paranormal romance.

I won't cover the plot as that has been done, but this is light paranormal/vampire fiction that would probably appeal to a younger audience than someone middle aged. The book was free and I figured since it was around Christmas time, I would give it a gander. The main character is a 20 year old experiencing the first Christmas with her recently turned sister. The story isn't so much about Christmas as it is about keeping family traditions in the face of change. It is basically a set up for the next story. I would have combined the two books actually.
It's fun easy reading, with some cute lines and scenes but maybe a wee bit too campy.

Undead Christmas fun!

Although not a follower of this series, I have enjoyed the stories that I have picked that were free. This story leaves a huge hole so I may have to continue on with GiGi's story. All the Undead stories I have listened to are fun and humorous and enjoyable. There usually is some mystery involved that makes it intriguing.
