Great story. Flat monotone narrator.

What made the experience of listening to Hostage to Pleasure the most enjoyable?

The written story was much better than the audio edition. My listening experience was not nearly as enjoyable as reading the book. Angela Dawe is quite awful.

What did you like best about this story?

The whole IAD world. Kresley Cole knows both character and world-building.

How could the performance have been better?

A talented, more experienced narrator should have been selected, preferable a man. Angela Dawe reads in a monotone, flat voice. Compared to Robert Petkoff who read A Hunger Like No Other, she reads like a sixth grader.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Many laughs, and several crying jags. A wonderful addition to the series.

Another great addition to the Psy-Changling series. But putting up with monotone narrator Angela Dawe is just about more than I can bear. There are some great narrators out there, and I wish the publisher/author would have engaged an effective narrator.

Great series!!!! This is my favorite series. Each book builds on the overall world while keeping you interested in the individual romances. A few of the book were about secondary characters that I didn’t care about at the beginning and absolutely loved by the end. This review applies to the first 9 books in the series.

Where does Hostage to Pleasure rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Nalini Singh is one of my favorite authors and her Psy-Changling series is one of the best. I have listened to this book several times and will likely listen several more :)

It made me laugh, cry and feel happy. I ran through all the emotions!

Dorian's Story

this was my favorite of the Psy-Changeling books so far. Couldn't wait to get to Dorian's story. Was not disappointed it was awesome.

Another great Psy-Changeling book by Nalini Singh!! How does she do it?? The series just keeps getting better and better.

Entertaining, Great Story, Awesome Narrator

I loved listening to this story, it came together so perfectly. So far my favorite of the series. The narrator does a great job bringing the characters to life. I couldn't stop listening. I really enjoy that this series has the same narrator for all of the books and that characters from previous books are brought back into each book.

I can't get enough of this series... I am so glad that the books are already written so I don't have to wait for the next book. Nalina Singh has a great imagination... I often wonder how writers can have such a fantastic imagination. I also need to give a lot of credit to Angela Dawe heard amazing way to bring the characters to life. She definitely gives the positive twist to the stories!

Pleasurable!

I continue to be amazed at how much I am enjoying this series. Each book completes a couple story but expands the overarching story of this world. And while the last book added the humans as featured characters, this one adds some human mystery.

Having never liked third person writing, I am equally amazed how much this authors third person writing just works for me. The POV changes and so the connections are made that I normally miss when reading this type of writing style. But because of this style, we learn so much about what's going on in with the Psy council and the mystery human group that pops up in this book.

I love how this author adds the characters that will become important in the next book. This time, we learn a little bit more about Mercy and guess what? Her book is next. It's like when you need to know about them, they show up and that feature really appeals to me.

Additionally, we get bits about couples that were previous featured. Lucas will always be around as the alpha of the cats but I love how we still see him take pleasure in kissing his mate and being there for pack. And I can't wait for more wolves. There was a bits and pieces with them in this book and so I love the dynamics over in the Snow Dancers pack. They have become good allies to the cats and vise versa. This makes me all kinds of happy.

The writing continues to HOLD my attention, the story always surprises me and the characters are definitely part of my pack. I just can't get enough. More...give me more.

AND did I mention HOT? These shifters love to touch. Love to bring the pleasure. Yum.

Dorian. My heart broke for this cat that can't shift. He's become the best of the best just to prove his place as a Sentinel. His surfer looks and protective personality had me loving him even more. But this story was personal for this cat. How can he love someone from the race that killed his sister? He's vowed to take down the council. So he fought his cat on this one. Course, cats can be pretty persuasive.

As for Ashaya...what a mystery this M-pys is. Nothing is as it seems. Even when I thought I had her figured out she had more secrets. Did I mention that Dorian doesn't like secrets? Some pretty fun scenes between these two as they tried to work through some of it. But nothing prepared me to love her as much as I did. Her love for her cat...her Dorian and how she completed him made her perfect to me. She doesn't back down from this protective cat. She loves him. She challenges him. She satisfies him. Yeah, I love her for that and all her little secrets.

Satisfying. Addictive. Surprising. Enjoyable. Pleasurable. Demanding of my attention. AND it should be your next read...this series.
