    Story
    "Painfully slow and repetitious writing"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not likely. The story begins with some intrigue and pulls the reader in wanting to know what happens. But then the painfully slow introspection of every thought and action is stated twelve different ways. It gets tiring. By the end of the story I was sick of hearing the same lines repeated by the characters, or their thoughts.

Would you ever listen to anything by Kristin Hannah again?

I liked Home Front, but Home Again has made me nervous concerning any future Kristin Hannah books.

What about Tanya Eby’s performance did you like?

The reader did a good job of helping the listener "see" the various characters. She did well with the different ages and genders.

    "A typical Kristen Hannah book"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

Too predictable of a story line. From the introduction of the Angel character the end was too obviously projected.

Would you be willing to try another book from Kristin Hannah? Why or why not?

    Probably, one more

What about Tanya Eby’s performance did you like?

    Very well done

What would have made this romance irresistible?

    Too predictable

    Story
    "Life UNEXPECTED.Excellent book"
If you could sum up Home Again in three words, what would they be?

    Love, Faith and Understanding

Who was your favorite character and why?

Francis, all you need to do is open you eye's and see the good everything he brings to life.

Which character – as performed by Tanya Eby – was your favorite?

Magdelaine so strong and willing to do anything to reach and help those she loves. Asking for nothing, Wants only the best for her family, and looking after all these years of raising a child on her own, she stands for a lot of us women that endured what she did and still standing today.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, and I went to bed with tears after reading it. Good and bad.

    Any additional comments?

This will bring real life to your door steps. It's not what you expected, but neither is life. To many times we get caught up in books that take us far away from this. But then we need to see how people handle what we deal with almost everyday. Sometimes I think people that are larger than life are out of touch with reality. After this, I don't think so. It's happened to us all. This is a A teenager out to show you she knows it all, a hard working single mother and a the father showing up when he don't want to be a part of his home town life, and his brother, all smiles and willing to do anything to bring it all in front of their eyes. And he does. . Expect your emotions to be torn here, bring out tissues and all of us has been thru this. the way it's narrated was so remarkable, it helped me at least understand why everyone did was needed at the time and what they had to in this family. All families deal with trauma that leaves us with life altering decisions. It's all here, hate, love, understanding and mostly sacrifice. I loved this book and I cried many times knowing it hurt to lose someone you care so deeply for. But in the end we are given something more in return. They never leave us..They see us thru so much in a round about way. Read it. It's worth it.. I promise you. it's worth it and cry and enjoy this little book of wondrous joy it brings. I warned you.. it's excellent to read, but bring out the tissue box. It's life they are dealing with. What we experience day to day at times. I would of gave it 5 stars, but at times, I think it should of just moved on. I cried for them to heal and they should of earlier.

    "disappointed"

Loved Firefly Lane, so thought this would be as good. Story was predictable and so not a fun listen. I think I might like the narrator, but hard to tell as she had very little to work with.

    "Interesting but Problematic Novel"

There were some good and bad things about this book. I thought the storyline was compelling, if a bit predictable. The cast of characters and the ordeals they go through will certainly pull at your emotions. And Tanya Eby's narration was superb.

However, I also found the cast of characters a bit irritating, especially the male protagonist, Angel DeMarco. I think KH tried to explain his irritating behavior, but instead of coming across as complicated and broken, he just seemed arrogant, annoying, and a little stupid. Perhaps part of the issue has to do with when this book was originally published (1996) but some of the problems/questions he has before & after a life-saving medical procedure seem like common knowledge. Therefore, his reactions seem way over the top.

Angel's medical situation forces all the characters to come to terms with their personal issues. The teen daughter, Lina, often acts like a spoiled brat. But I actually found Lina and the forgotten brother, Francis, to be the most fascinating parts of the story. It's easy to understand why a confused teenaged girl would act out. And, it was very easy to sympathize w/ Francis b/c he's an innately good but flawed person.

Fortunately, I purchased this book when it was on sale and advise that others do the same. It wasn't a complete waste of money, but I would have been disappointed if I'd used a whole credit on it.

    Story
"Like Cotton Candy - Fluffy, Sugary and Sickening"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

The characters were not enjoyable. For the life of me I could not figure out why Madeleine was attracted in a life-altering way to Angel. He was weak, vain, and had few, if any, redeeming qualities. The most decent character in the book...well, I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but it was all a bit too neat. Overall the book left me quite dissatisfied.

What could Kristin Hannah have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Made the main characters more redeemable, more likeable. Everything tied up too neatly.

Which character – as performed by Tanya Eby – was your favorite?

    Lina.

Was Home Again worth the listening time?

NO. If I wasn't at work, distracted by other things, I would not have continued to listen.

    Any additional comments?

I can't shake off how irritating the main characters were, and how it all tied up too neatly, resolved too suddenly, even though the book droned on and on for (Really?) 12 plus hours.

"Somewhat predictable but a good listen"

Felt like the story was somewhat predictable, but a good listen for the most part. The characters were well-drawn and although I thought the teenage girl was a bit over the top at times (I found her annoying, not at all endearing), they certainly seemed like real people with real problems.

    "Not one of her best."

This book was average when compared to "Winter Garden", "Firefly Lane" and "Night Road", which were outstanding. The book was predictable and unmemorable. I am not sure I would have read more of Hannah's books if this one was the first I read (heard). The narrator drove me crazy when she ended every sentence on a high note as if it was a question. This was especially true of the main character. The narrator made the main character, a cardiac surgeon, sound indecisive and air headed.
