Publisher's summary

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father - the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership.

In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon, Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side...and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

Critic reviews

“Take one half-human/half-vampire female with serious anger and parental issues, add in a sexy ancient vampire with his own agenda, and you have the makings for a truly combustible series. Sign me up for the sequel!” (Romantic Times)

AMAZING PERFORMANCE AND STORY!! MUST READ!

If you could sum up Halfway to the Grave in three words, what would they be?

EXCITING, SEXY, DANGEROUS

Who was your favorite character and why?

Cat AND Bones! How could I enjoy one more than the other? They are delicious together!

What about Tavia Gilbert’s performance did you like?

I liked that she could do male voices just as well. I never felt like I was listening to a woman when my imagination was hearing Bones or any of the other men. She is simply superb!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I simply loved it! Of course, the end made me purchase the next installment immediately! I usually put a little time between books in a series just to change it up a little. However, I cannot do that on this one! I must know!!!

Bad to the Bones

This is one of the best starts to an awesome paranormal romantic action filled series. Cat is a tough as nails heroine and Bones is bad with a heart of gold. What can I say except this one series you just don’t want to miss out on. The heated relationship between Cat and Bones relationship is full of challenges and danger but beyond that we are taken into a different vampiric world with twist and turns that leave you wanting more. Yes this is definitely worth a credit.

I haven't listen better book since the time of Twilight.
The narrator doesn't bother me at all, indeed I love her British accent.

Worth a shot

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes. I was looking to start a new series to kill my commute, and it was a relatively quick and easy listen. I just finished George R. R. Martin's Clash of Kings (a heavy listen at more than 37 hours), so this was a nice, light treat.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I liked the narrator, with a couple exceptions. I really didn't like her accent for Bones. It was a little too "Eliza Doolittle" and not masculine enough for my taste. It certainly wasn't the worst English accent that I've heard, but the over-the-top, fake Cockney accent took some getting used to. Likewise for the majority of her male characterizations. I rolled my eyes the first few times I heard her portray pretty much any male character, but I got used to it. It didn't stop me from enjoying the story though, and she was very good otherwise, especially with Cat.

Any additional comments?

I liked this story for the most part. The writing started off well but slipped a bit at the end. I have to admit that the author lost me once she brought the human conspirators and the government into the picture. I still want to find out what happens with Cat and Bones, though, and I'm already downloading the next book. I'm a sucker for a sexy vampire romance.
