Publisher's summary

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father - the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership.

In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon, Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side...and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

Critic reviews

“Take one half-human/half-vampire female with serious anger and parental issues, add in a sexy ancient vampire with his own agenda, and you have the makings for a truly combustible series. Sign me up for the sequel!” (Romantic Times)

I love this series but....

This is one of my favorite series so I decided to buy the books in audio version. They are good except the voice for Bones. I hate to say it but he sounds like Eliza Doolittle with a cold. I really like Tavia Gilbert as a narrator, I have other books she’s done and have enjoyed her performances, but she really missed the mark on Bones.

Loved it!

So if your like me I’m a straight up vampire and werewolf fan. This story is much different than most I listen to. Give the story a chance if you’re not sure about in the first few chapters.
The narrator is great!

Pretty good vamp story

Not a fan of the ending plot twist… but overall found it entertaining and I would continue the series! The male voice annoys me slightly too, but it grew on me overtime (still not my fav though lol)

Review on Narrator

I love Jeaniene Frost novels. The adventure and steamy romance make them such fun, great reads. My review is in regards to the narrator on the audible version of this book. I will say the narrator does a good job with most of the characters voices except Bones! Man, such a high pitch annoying tone he has, and nothing and I mean nothing like you would want Bones to sounds like given his personality as a strong vampire. Although I kept listening I almost gave up a few times because her tone just got to me. I was so relived when a new narrator was brought in but it wasn't until the last two books in this series so you'll have to bare through it if you plan to listen via audible. I love audible as my commute to work is long and since I don't have time to sit down and read a book, I count on audible. This makes the narrator so vital to the author's story and whether a reader wants to continue a book and/or purchase next book in series, even if the story is great, the narrator can make or break it.

NOT A BAD BOOK.

IT TOOK ME AWHILE TO GET INTO THIS BOOK. I THOUGHT IT STARTED OF KIND OF SLOW COMPARED TO WHAT I AM USE TO AND WHAT I WAS EXPECTING. OVER ALL IT WAS PERTTY ENTERTAINING. I JUST FINISHED LISTENING TO THE WHOLE SERIES (or whats availble) AND I WILL SAY BOOK 1 ISNT THE BEST BUT THE OTHER BOOK MAKE UP FOR WHAT THIS ONE IS LACKING. ITS IS DEFINITLY WORTH LISTENING TO. I ALSO LIKE HOW THE AUTHOR ENDS THE BOOKS. YOU DONT HAVE TO ACTUALLY LISTEN TO THE BOOKS IN ORDER LIKE YOU WOULD DO IN OTHER SERIES.

Fantastic series

Halfway to the grave is one of my favorite PNR series, very interesting story, likable heroine and sexy british vampire. My problem with the audio version is Bones's british accent. The narrator is great at portraying Cat but there is a LOT to be desired from Bone's accent. I just couldnt listen to it, he doesnt sound manly or sexy at all. Book deserves 5 stars but the narator KILLED Bones which made me sad.

Great book only did not enjoy narrator

I have to agree with another review on here. The Story was great and I hope they put more on audio! But the Voice of bones was done all wrong the English accent for this friend was much better and should have been used for the sexy male lead! but I am very glad I listened to it!

Did not finish

I guess this is targeted at teens? I wish Audible made it clear.

Starts well, becomes primitive fast, and deteriorates to the point there it won't even pass as a comic.

Great adventure , atrocious british accent

I thoroughly enjoyed Cat's character. She was misguided by her mother. But,
she was wise enough to learn and be loved by the wonderful and sexy Bones. She was fiesty, vulnerable and a refreshing joy. Bones is 200 plus years old vampire , intellectual enough not only to survive , but develope a sense of morality. Regarding the accent comment, people do drop accents over time. Bones was a beautiful character and the narrator gave him an annoying and distracting accent. I barely made it the last chapter. This was a
4 Star book. The narrator did a good with the other characters. Minus one for someone's poor judgement.
