Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership.
In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon, Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side...and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.
Jeaniene Frost lives with her husband and their very spoiled dog in Florida. Although not a vampire herself, she confesses to having pale skin, wearing a lot of black, and sleeping in late whenever possible. And while she can't see ghosts, she loves to walk through old cemeteries. Jeaniene also loves poetry and animals but fears children and hates to cook. She is currently at work on the next novel in her best-selling Night Huntress series.

“Take one half-human/half-vampire female with serious anger and parental issues, add in a sexy ancient vampire with his own agenda, and you have the makings for a truly combustible series. Sign me up for the sequel!” (Romantic Times)
I did not care for this book at all, I turned it off and will not be buying any of these books in this series,
Hot romance/Sci Fi we're so lucky to have Audible to feed our book addictions. I love walking my precious dog Sydney & listening to my books
This book is exciting and very addictive from beginning to end. Top author with a fabulous imagination. I'll be listing to the rest of this excellent series. :)
I loved this book!! I am completely addicted to Cat and Bones (I have listened to to the book - ahem, cough...cough - 5 times)! This story is a wonderful tribute to the genre. I cannot wait until the next book in the series comes out in audio format. I have read all of the books, so far; but now, I want to hear the rest of them. The narrator is excellent and definitely makes the book all the more entertaining. If I could give the audio book 10 stars, I would not hesitate to do so.... Enjoy!
Funny, sexy, exciting - with a Spike and a Buffy type relationship. A great fun vampire series. All the characters come alive - great fore shadowing. I have read all the books and am happy to say the audio books live up to the print.
And please keep the same narrator, Tavia does a wonderful job. I can not wait for more of this series. Hurry Audible, hurry!!
I am open to reviewing quality products.
WooHoo!! I love it when I discover a series that is all out!!! I can not wait to dive into these. This is going to be delicious entertainment for the rest of the week.
Cat is a totally kick butt chick! She takes not crap from anybody! Love all her snark and sass. She is easily up there with all my favorite UF heroines. She has a hard road because of her family, but she does not let it get her down. It takes her a while to accept herself, thankfully she did not spend the time being uber-angsty.
Bones is totally delicious! I love a guy with an accent. He is also incredibly sweet, sure in a tough love kind of way. I am more than half in love with him. He can be a real jerk at times, but it all has a purpose, mostly to help Cat come to terms with herself. And he is has no mercy when it comes to her safety and well being, do not cross this guy!
They have a great dynamic and the whole book is beautifully paced. Such a great world that is detailed and well crafted. I can not wait to see more of this series. The romance is nicely done and felt real. There is a yummy amount of steam throughout. This is one of those UF books that verges on erotic, mainstream story with plenty of detail in the smexy scenes.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Tavia Gilbert, she does a fantastic job. She voices the characters with distinctive accents and makes the story flow. She makes Bones accent super delicious. She is definitely one to search out in the future.
Warning, this is not a HEA ending, but I have faith the series will get there, it damn sure better!! I was understandably upset at the end. I still loved the book and was thoroughly entertained. I am so happy a friend suggested I read this series. Yup, I am hooked and will beginning stalking, uh following Ms. Frost ASAP!!
I'm married with one daughter, just finished my BS in Health Science, and I'm a choosy fiction/romance/paranormal/anything spellbinding listener during my commute.
I've loved other novels by Jeaniene Frost, and Tavia Gilbert's narrations are fine (not bad, just not versatile, and has occasional odd inflections) but this one wasn't my favorite.
Please know that I still loved listening this this story, I was never bored, I just didn't have any burning desire to keep listening (or open this book again on my next visit to my phone's audible app ). Others may simply love this story, and looking back, I should have listened to it at 1.5x speed. The plot of this story was really interesting, and sounded awesome (tough half-breed girl takes down vampires, falls in love with her co-killer vampire, endless possibilities for them in their quest to squash evil, etc.), but either the stunted sentence flow, or the lack of big excitement, ranked this one lower than I expected.
Sorry guys! I know a lot of people loved this one- I fully admit that this was a fun story to listen to, but I wouldn't call it a favorite since I have no urge to ever listen to it again.
I am a teachers aid for work. I am a college student. and I have a small homestead. I love Paranormal Romance while I work in my garden.
It was definitely really funny in places. I felt like the story and the reading were cheesy for some characters like the British accent and the family's voices, were not to my particular tast.
Say something about yourself!
Perhaps I have been spoiled by the immortal guardian series and Black Dagger Brotherhood...but this vampire world seriously lacked a good background story. For the first time ever I find myself more intrigued with the romance than the vampire world...which was kind of sadly underwriten.
The performance was AWESOME! The narrator had me embarrased for the charachters, and overall I think I had to turn the book off 3 times because I was laughing so hard...the narrator really did the voices and emotions VERY well.
I almost didn't finish this book though because it was just getting way too drawn out...I did finally push through it..and was NEVER going to buy another one in this series...except a charachter that I really liked is making a return in book 2...so I'll give it ONE more shot...I really hope book two is more impressive.
Frost's books are not enhanced or even given their due because of the narrator. Many times throughout the book I would be distracted by thinking of poor phrasing, inflection and accents--her Latino is at times almost non-existent and at others stereotypical. I enjoy Frost's plots and the interplay between characters, but it could be so much better with a different narrator, such as Lorelei King,Jennifer Ikeda, or Johanna Parker.
