Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership.
In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon, Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side...and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.
Jeaniene Frost lives with her husband and their very spoiled dog in Florida. Although not a vampire herself, she confesses to having pale skin, wearing a lot of black, and sleeping in late whenever possible. And while she can't see ghosts, she loves to walk through old cemeteries. Jeaniene also loves poetry and animals but fears children and hates to cook. She is currently at work on the next novel in her best-selling Night Huntress series.

“Take one half-human/half-vampire female with serious anger and parental issues, add in a sexy ancient vampire with his own agenda, and you have the makings for a truly combustible series. Sign me up for the sequel!” (Romantic Times)
This is a fun book and the narrator, Tavia Gilbert, is great. So many reviews mentioned that they didn't like her voice doing Bones' English accent that I almost didn't spend the credit on it. She does a great accent. Bones is supposed to have been raised in an 18th century brothel on the streets of London. His accent is straight London gutter snipe and perfect for the character. The plot is fast paced, filled with all the paranormal adventure you are expecting, but twisted in a new way.
If you like kick-ass heroines with love interests that aren't cookie cutter, you will enjoy listening to this book.
I loved this audiobook. I was worried when I read some of the reviews about the narrator but I have lots of unused credits so I thought I'd give it a try and I am so glad I did! I liked the narrator ok. I have heard much worse. The book was great. This is now one of my favorite books. I am so ready for the second book but I don't think it will be out on audio until November! UGH! UGH! UGH! Can't that be hurried up! I can't wait that long!
There were some cheesy parts in the scene with bones interrogating her, but I fell in love once I pushed past that. The narrator also did not read it them same way I would have, but I think that happens to me with every audible book. I have read every book in this series including the spin-offs. I can't get enough! I highly recommend this series and I am about to re-read them. I am addicted!!
Wasn't sure if I would like this book but I took a chance after reading some of the reviews and this turned out to be pretty badass. One of the best books I've read in a while!
Cant wait for more from this series!
The charecters grow on you, I cried, I just purchased all the other books in the serious and can't wait to read the rest!! The heroine is confused but strong with so MUCH potential if only she would let it out, and the Hero is sexy and confident and PATIENT,knows exactly how to cultivate that potential and he's passionate!!
Loved it! I couldn't wait for the second book so I purchased the series and finished book 1-4 in four days. With a busy two year old, school, and pt work that's not too bad! I can't wait for the second book to arrive on audible, I will purchase it in audio form even though I have now read the book twice. Great paranormal romance series with some kick butt action!
Loved it! Didn't wait for the audible version of book 2 went and purchased in on my kindle and am about to start book 3.
Audiobook Addict. It's all about the Listen. Mostly Romance, but I do branch out a bit. Reviews are my honest opinions-popular or not.
This is a must-listen- one of the best series ever. The perfect combination of great writing by the author and fabulous performances by the reader. This series and the Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison are my all-time favorites. This pulls you in immediately and will not disappoint.
First, I'm sure most of you are smarter than I am and went to the author's link to discover that there is only this one book in audio so far. If that's a problem for you, as it is for me, put it on your wish list and wait. You'll want to read the second.
The book is fun. There's gratuitous sex and violence in an action packed and extra cheesy trashy vampire romance novel. If that's what you're looking for, you've arrived at the right place.
The author had the oppertunity to delve into some serious issues- stop and re-evaluate your worldview issues- but deftly sidestepped them. Perhaps they will seem more genuine in the next books, but here and now, the serious things seemed too overblown even for commentary that tends to exaggerate character flaws and social problems for the sake of making the point.
The narration... What can I do but put it out there... If I had eternity before me and more than 2 centuries behind me, I'd lose the awful accent. No matter where you're from- a bad accent's a bad accent. This one's on Bones though, not a problem with the narration.
I need more ears!
One of the best (perhaps only?) perks of getting older is a challenged memory. Given enough time, rereading my favorite books again is almost like new. This is possibly my third time reading this series over the past 4 or 5 years and I'm having a great time! Definitely more entertaining than 75% of what's out there.
Tavia Gilbert is amazing reading this fantastic series, so I'm dipping into the Mark of the Vampire series for the first time because she's the reader of that too.
Note to Kevin Hearne fans: Just found a great new (to me) series by John Conroe called the Demon Accords. It's amazing! Check it out on Kindle cause it's not on Audible yet. I plowed through the whole series in a week and loved it!
