"Terrible narration ruined it for me"

The premise was an interesting one, but the narration was so poor I gave up on the book. The narrator wasn't bad when voicing the main character, but at other times was so stilted she sounded robotic.

    "Narrator Kills Story"
What did you love best about Full Blooded?

    Good story.

What other book might you compare Full Blooded to and why?

    Silver Borne

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Casey Holloway?

    Lorelei King

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    ??

    Any additional comments?

Narrator kills this story. Sounds like she was reading the story for the first time. The halting naration is really bad.

"A rough start, but better towards the middle."

When I first started listening to this book I didn't think I was going to be able to finish it and even considered returning it. I think the narration really hurts the story. The narrator has a nice voice, but she sounds like a teenager rather than a tough mid-20s ex-cop. The narrator also puts awkward pauses in the middle of sentences CONSTANTLY. It really started to drive me crazy. On the plus side, she did a decent job of using different voices and accents for the other characters.

The story itself was only okay for the first half, but by the middle of the book I was pretty into the story. I will most likely get the next book in the series, but in hard copy if they use the same narrator.

"I want more!!!! Audible please record 2nd book:-)"

I am going to make this short. Loved the story, love the concept, but the performance not so much. The narrator is good but the her voice sound too young to me. Half the time I felt I was listen to a teen book. But the author made up for it. I really enjoy the story. It was different then your usual Werewolf books. It's not all about the romance their is an actual plot. But don't get me wrong their is some romance.

There is some yummy men, there is a strong female, father-daughter, sister-brother, and some fight scenes.

So if you don't want to get into a long series, this is not a book for you, if you can't get into an book if the narrator does not fit your imagination then look else where. But if you like have lore retold in a different way then check this out.

Hope you agree and enjoy good listens:-)

    "Hard to listen to"
Would you try another book from Amanda Carlson and/or Casey Holloway?

Yes, but hope she changes who reads, good story line this one might be a better hard cover read.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Like a struggling reader, pauses in the wrong places, and characters are hard to follow

What character would you cut from Full Blooded?

the narrator, she colors how you view the all the different characters, hard to build a relationship

    "Narration was the worst."

Story dragged in the beginning, and it was very difficult to continue listening at times because of the narrator. It's taken me over a month to get through this story, and I'm not done yet. If this narrator does the next installments, I won't be purchasing them!

"Good beginning to a new series!"

This one has great characters, and a fun premise, but the author's skill is almost eclipsed by the reader's hyper-pronunciation of each word. It seems she substitutes precise enunciation for emotion or acting ability.

The story itself is a new werewolf saga with an interesting heroine, a quest for a handsome hero, amusing and talented sidekicks, and an ancient prophesy. What else could you want?

I have been happily married for 17 years, I have 3 children (12, 14, & 16), and 2 dogs. I am currently working on a 2nd degree. Life is chaotic and stressful, but I wouldn't change it. I am blessed and enjoying my life.

    "I liked the story"

I like the story enough to purchase the 2nd book even though it wasn't on the audible site. The only reason I didn't give it more than 3 stars on the Performance is because the narrator was very stilted and she read the entire book at the same volume. The book would have read better if she had lowered her tone or varied it some. If she is a new reader or inexperienced, then she will get better. I liked the accents, but the best way to describe how she sounds is that she is very stilted as if she wasn't using contractions, like this was a second language. But this is still an enjoyable book.

    "Great new series"

In this book of the werewolf genre all werewolves were male which is why having a female werewolf was a rarity. She was older when she became a full-blooded werewolf and besides being unique by being a female werewolf, she is unique in other ways. It starts a little slow as a lot of the first books in a series do, but the action picks up and we get to go along for the ride of Jessica trying to figure out what she is. There's fight scenes and other characters of the supernatural world pop up. It seems once she turned full-blooded she hasn't had a good day. There's a lot of nice family loyalty - father/daughter, brother/sister - and also some good friends. Unfortunately it ends on sort of a cliff-hangar so you almost have to get the next book to find out what happens if you're at all interested in the characters.

Not much to say about the narrator. She had a nice enough voice, but her male voices were horrible and besides the main character her other female voices weren't that good either.
