When alpha female Galina Sudenko agreed to attend her distant cousin's birthday party, she wasn't counting on meeting the devastatingly handsome and powerful rom alpha Andrey Lupesco or having her sexy times with him interrupted by the murder of her idiot brother-in-law, Sergei. But such is life when your father is one of the most powerful werewolves within Seattle's supernatural Russian organized crime syndicate. Not content with being just a pretty face and good breeding stock, Galina sets out to make her mark within the family. But in doing so, she runs afoul of her eldest brother, Alexei, the heir apparent to the family dynasty. He has no intention of ceding his position without a fight. Andrey and Galina's burgeoning romance is threatened when she discovers that before his death, Irina's husband, Sergei, hijacked Andrey's shipment of the werewolf drug bullet, a synthetic drug that gives the supernatural creatures a cocaine-like high. Sergei's theft means that Andrey had a reason to have Sergei killed, leaving Galina to decide whether to risk trusting Andrey even as her feelings for him deepen.
As her brother Alexei's behavior becomes more erratic, Galina must find the missing shipment, prove to her family that she'll be a capable leader, and decide whether her lover, Andrey, can be trusted before she can hope to challenge her brother for his position as head of the family. A tale full of sexy werewolves, forbidden love, family power struggles, and danger closing in, Gia Corona and Jacey Conrad's From Russia with Claws will leave you howling for more!

This book was interesting, but is wildly different from the fun, snark filled dialog readers expect from a Molly Harper book. If the name "Molly Harper" writing as ... is the lead text, it does open up certain expectations moving forward.
There are some interesting errors made with regard to Rom culture that make you go hmmmm. While this is not significant to the storyline, it is a little annoying because the cultural aspects were used in other places. I enjoyed the book but it was drastically different from what I enjoy most about Molly Harper's novels. It was at times slow and bogged down with the descriptive sex scenes, however, at other times, it glossed over aspects that might have been better served to be expanded. (i.e. just when did Alexei become so obsessed with Irina and why?) I understand many readers/listeners want those steamy scenes and that's okay too, but don't leave other bits out to make room for them. Alexei was so unlikable I felt frustrated that everyone seemed so quick to cover for him. More information about the family dynamic might have alleviated that irritation.
It is worth a listen, but I don't think I will be using future credits for this author duo.
Molly Harper's other works are humorous, interesting and fun. This was boring, plotless, stilted and the erotica was flavorless even before the umpteenth reprise.
People looking for an ok story with a lot of reparative erotica that quickly becomes boring due to the repetitive use of the same unimaginative terminology. I fast forwarded through everything after the first erotic scene for a couple of reasons...
1. A sexy scene is all good but these were just vulgar for the sake of vulgarity using crude terms you'd expect to hear from a teenage boy.
2. Once you heard one, you'd heard them all. Boooooring.
I expected Molly Harper with a twist. I got an ok story, no Molly Harper wit or snark (I literally laugh out loud every time I read Harper, I never laughed once here.) It's a real shame because the storyline has potential but when I'm fast forwarding through 6-10 minutes at a time and missing nothing and slogging through waiting for the end (quite the opposite of my normal feelings for a Harper novel), it's missed the mark. I'm left wondering what the story could have been if Harper wrote it alone.
I didn't care for some of the "s" sounds and she had a couple notable mispronunciations. However, I'll admit I may just be missing Amanda Ronconi.
Anger, boredom, disappointment.
I hope Molly Harper sees this as a learning experience and goes back to what she does so well. I'll be skipping the sequel if there is one.
The narrator. She doesn't get the attitude and can't throw snark.
It was ok.
I missed a lot of the story because the narrator was so boring and I would tune out. I'm very disappointed.
this is not her usual fare.
The book has werewolves , but the story is thin, mostly sex.. Now if you like erotica wrapped up in a paranormal, you may like this. I felt dissapointed because I tend to avoid erotica in audio book form.
One of the authors, Molly Harper, is gifted with snarky humor which she readily displays in her Half Moon Hollow series. Her newsletter pitched this new book with co-author Gia as being similar... So I jumped in and pre-ordered the book expecting a great read.
From the beginning it was hard to listen to and the story was too jumbled with timelines and plots to allow for good timing with their character development. I felt like I was hanging In there until I could find any character to really like in the book. In five chapters no one was really likable.
The narrator had a flat delivery and was probably selected because of her ability to pronounce Russian names (sorry, but that is how it appears to me).
I'm really disappointed not to like something or someone in the story!
No, but from this series and pen name- yes.
All of them. Not one seemed to have a "white hat" kind of goodness ... The male lead was first presented playing a hood that was crushing another guys testicles....can't really get beyond that as a first impression...
Molly- please don't waste time on similar endeavors.... I'm dying for the next crazy good story which you are so great at producing!
picked this book out because I have never been a huge molly fan. so when all the other reviews were saying this is not the same molly harper that they knew thought I would give it a try. wow. loved the storyline. young ware wolf women takes over head of the family in a mafia family. think this series will have huge potential. look forward to see where this goes. anyone who likes a little grittier love this is a book you would like. hope others give it a try. definitely a different story than molly usually writes but that is why it is under a different name. good reading.
I am a big fan of Molly Harper and her snark and humor in her other books. There is some of that in this one and it did make me laugh a few times but this wasn't your regular Molly Harper book which I think is why she is using a different name for it which is fine for me. I knew going in that there was going to be more sex and violence and I have read and listened to my share of erotic books and this one fit right in with the rest of them. I think it worked well with the story because it was darker all around with the Mafia and werewolves and murder and romance I think it was very well put together. I really enjoyed the characters and I hope to see more in the future. I was a little unsure of the narrator at first but after a little while she grows on you and she does the Russian accent really well. I know some people have said if you like Molly Harper don't read this book but I have to say I love Molly Harper and I enjoyed this book I think it adds another layer to her writing and I hope to see more of this in the future. If you like erotic books with werewolves and a HEA and some humor and family fun then this is the book for you.
I would recommend for brain candy, but a little harder to swallow than traditional Molly Harper
The Russian aspect was curious, a red herring not entirely utilized as well as it could of been
I have not.
Yes, explore caviar.
The sex scenes were amazing, per usual it was disappointing on the delivery of plot. Dont get me wrong great plot, just drawn out.
As a mom of young children I like to listen while I do laundry or dishes etc. Audio books give me the chance to read (listen) more!
I gave this a couple of hours to improve, and it was just one sex scene after another. The plot was the cliche of a damsel in distress and the male characters were even more flat meat-heads.
I can tell why she did not write as Molly Harper, this writing is very different. And not in a way that I enjoyed.
Not likely. Her voice was great with the accents but her diction was stilted, like she was reading the news.
Disappointed that I wasted a credit.
"Passionate and dangerous"
The accents were good and pronouncing the Russian names would have been difficult if not for the audio edition.
Galina is the alpha that her brother Alexei isn’t. His jealousy, obsession, and all round terrible business sense have led to so many disasters that Nikolai, Galina’s other brother, has made a career out of repairing his damage. When Andrey enters Galina’s life he brings a sexy undercurrent to just about everything but she’s not going to forget her duties.
I have read a lot of work from this author under a different name and I was surprised at how different the book was from her previous work. The story was serious and the steamy aspects were definitely a little more hard-core. Her style might be different but her ability to create strong characters is still present, and I quickly found myself immersed into Russian werewolf organised crime. The romance is, in typical werewolf fashion, all-consuming and passionate.
"Different to Molly's Standard Book"
I can see why Molly Harper wrote this book under a different name - it's not her usual style but it is still a good read/listen.
The whole story revolves around Russian criminal werewolves. The main character Galina Sudenko has lived an independent life for a decade but then returned home where the status of women is expected to be quiet, stay home and marry the person your father arranges. It is not what Galina Sudenko is prepared to accept.
The sex scenes are definitely graphic, once again not something you would expect from Molly Harper.
The book is however worth a listen.
