Publisher's summary

Miranda Puckett has failed at every job she’s ever had. Her mother just wants her to come home, join the family law firm, and settle down with Jason, the perfect lawyer boyfriend. But when Jason turns out to be a lying cheater, Miranda seizes on a job that gets her out of town: long-distance vampire transportation.

Her first assignment is to drive vampire Collin Sutherland from Washington to sleepy Half Moon Hollow without incident—no small feat for a woman whom trouble seems to follow like a faithful hound dog! And she has to do it without letting her passenger—the most persnickety, stuffy, devastatingly handsome vamp she’s ever met—drive her crazy. As she and Collin find disaster on the roads, they also find an undeniable spark between them. Could Miranda have found the perfect job and the perfect guy for her?

Entertaining

Any additional comments?

Given the author and narrator, the book is entertaining but it didn't quite suck me in as much as the Nice Girls series by Molly Harper. I realize these are spin off characters and for that and a nod to them with their own story, it's still got that humorous approach and moving along storyline.

Jinx: the Chauffer

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I might if they liked light, humorous vampire stories.

Would you be willing to try another book from Molly Harper? Why or why not?

Maybe. I would have to see what it was about first.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I disliked the voice the narrator used for the male characters. She did well with the female characters. Her male voices made the males (especially the lead character) sound feminine.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Jinx and a vampire take a Trip

Molly Harper Does It Again!!

What made the experience of listening to Driving Mr. Dead the most enjoyable?

First off, Molly Harper has a wicked sense of humour and Amanda Ronconi always does her books justice for me. I love to be able to listen to a book and have moments when I laugh out loud, which I did constantly with Driving Mr. Dead.

Which scene was your favorite?

There were a couple. Spray painted breasts cracked me up big time because it came out of nowhere, wasn't expecting it. Meeting Dick Chaney was great because I love him in the Jane Jameson series.

Any additional comments?

I am a bit biased because I am a big fan of Molly Harper. I love her quick wit and strong female characters. Anyone who can make me laugh out loud has my undying loyatly!

A bit different

What did you like best about Driving Mr. Dead? What did you like least?

I found it took me a while to get used to the narrators voice.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Found it difficult with the male characters to enjoy due to narrator

Do you think Driving Mr. Dead needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No as it would be a boring romance

Any additional comments?

I think it was just too different for my tastes, but might soon teenage girls possibly?

Well-done short by the queen of funny vampire tale

Molly Harper does a great job with humor and vampires. Her world that she has made is consistent and not too over the top.
The vampires are generally grumpy until a lovely non-undead comes along and makes their life fun and interesting and gives them a reason for being undead another few hundred years.

If you have read the Half Moon Hollow books and enjoyed those, this is just another fabulously funny entry in the group.

A klutzy young lady has to transport a cranky old (but physically beautiful, of course) vampire from one end of the country to another. She has to meet certain milestones and conduct herself in a certain manner.

Needless to say she fails hilariously on both counts, and many more.

Ms. Ronconi does a great job of performing this book.

Left me wanting more

If you could sum up Driving Mr. Dead in three words, what would they be?

Short, Funny, Interesting

Who was your favorite character and why?

I don't have a favorite. I enjoyed all equally!

Have you listened to any of Amanda Ronconi’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not, but would love to listen to more of her performances.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When she found out about the ring, and had her break down.... I teared up.

Funny book

This is the only book I've listened to in the series, and probably the only one I will. I thought it was funny, I laughed out loud a lot, a good story, and the narrator was great, really made the book. Not necessary to listen to other books in the series to enjoy this one.

A surprise

I have read several reviews of Molly Harper so I bought this one on a Bogo. I knew the series was well loved and folks thought the works funny. I think I expected something I already found funny or had some experience anticipating the shape and direction of the writing. This was a surprise. A very competent writer has anchored the ordinary, unexpected and the imagined in a delicious mix. It was fun and not really what I expected. The narrator was perfect. Thanks to all the reviewers who gave me the confidence to make this choice.
