Publisher's summary

Miranda Puckett has failed at every job she’s ever had. Her mother just wants her to come home, join the family law firm, and settle down with Jason, the perfect lawyer boyfriend. But when Jason turns out to be a lying cheater, Miranda seizes on a job that gets her out of town: long-distance vampire transportation.

Her first assignment is to drive vampire Collin Sutherland from Washington to sleepy Half Moon Hollow without incident—no small feat for a woman whom trouble seems to follow like a faithful hound dog! And she has to do it without letting her passenger—the most persnickety, stuffy, devastatingly handsome vamp she’s ever met—drive her crazy. As she and Collin find disaster on the roads, they also find an undeniable spark between them. Could Miranda have found the perfect job and the perfect guy for her?

Love Molly Haper!

Would you listen to Driving Mr. Dead again? Why?

I love this author! This was another laugh out loud chick lit which is light on the love scenes but heavy on the sarcasm! The hysterical, yet predictable,

Wish it was longer!

I laughed as I do to all of Molly Harpers books. Enjoyable short novel. Worth the read. I was worried after reading some of the other reviews, but I needn't have worried. Hope you enjoy it too.

Calamity Miranda

Molly Harper does it again. This was a cute and humorous story about a disaster of a girl driving around a Vamp with a mentality of a 300-year-old maiden aunt. I had a silly grin on my face most of the day and my co workers thought I was nuts. Short and sweet, I would have liked it to have been longer.

Short and Hilarious!

I actually found myself laughing so hard, I cried. I thoroughly enjoyed and Molly Harper's writing and Amanda's narration. The smart quips and the funny lines and unpredicatable situations are priceless.

Great author, but not her best work...

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend that a friend read Ms. Harper's other books, all of which I enjoyed enough to read over and over. In Driving Mr. Dead, Miranda Puckett takes on the job of driving a reclusive vampire from his west coast home to an important meeting in Kentucky. While on a madcap cross-country road trip to the meeting, Miranda agonizes over her own lack of post-college professional success in comparison with her family of high profile lawyers. She worries about the relationship between her fiancee and his best friend from childhood, the girl next door. Miranda copes admirably with disasters caused by criminals and acts of nature but she does not take pride in overcoming obstacles or giver herself well deserved credit. Too much time is spent agonizing over a life she seems to consider a series of failures. After reading Harper???s other books, I expected another 4.5 or 5 star read, but can only rate Driving Mr. Dead a three.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I wanted to see less angst and more development of the relationship between modern Miranda and her difficult passenger, an18th century ???second son??? of British aristocracy, turned vampire. I consider it a missed opportunity. I also wanted see Miranda feel more proud of her accomplishments.

What about Amanda Ronconi???s performance did you like?

Amanda Ronconi is an entertaining storyteller who provides a believable and enjoyable voice for the characters in the books she reads. She becomes the main character. I???d rate her performance a five out of five stars.

Very intertaining!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love Molly Harper's sence of humor. She has the ability to show the reader by her words just how the character is feeling. I love all her books.

What other book might you compare Driving Mr. Dead to and why?

All of Molly Harper's books.

Which scene was your favorite?

In chapter 6 Colin tells Miranda how he became a vampire. This talk was a turning point.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

That is not something I look for. I love audio books no matter how long or short.

I have found a new author/narrator to follow!!

I found this book while browsing. I was pleasantly surprised! I found myself smiling and letting out a giggle or two as well. The main character, Miranda gets yourself into some interesting situations or rather they happen to her. I could picture myself being her although I hope I don't have such bad luck...This one is a short listen but that was perfect for the content. I enjoy books that can take you somewhere in a short time with all the action I crave.... funny accidents...vampires...flirting...sex.. with an ending that most gals dream of. I look forward to more from Ms Harper in this story line.
Amanda did such a good job with the narration that I found myself looking for more book read by her. This book is a relative to some books I have in my wish list which so happen to be read by Amanda. As there is a sale currently, some of those will be finding there way to my shopping cart.

I do think this one is credit worthy but when you can get it so cheap!!!!! I suggested a $ purchase. Save the credit for a more costly book. Be careful though you could end up with a big hole in your pocketbook as this author and narrator are addicting.

Short but sweet & fun!

Any additional comments?

Miranda Puckett is a class A screw up. Not for lack of trying to be something better, she just seems to have the most impossible luck. Ever. Taking on a new job doesn't change her luck. Not even remotely. It does, however, make for quite an interesting and entertaining ride.

Driving Mr. Dead is a very short read, or listen in my case. It was only about 5 hours long and it is listed as 160 pages. More of a novella, in my opinion. Even with it being so short, you get a good feel for who Miranda is and what her life has been up to the point of picking up Collin.

Collin is like an extreme case of anal retentiveness. He's super particular, uptight, starchy and kind of just dickish. At first. But, spend a couple of days with Miranda and her knack of finding herself in the oddest of situations and Collin can't help but loosen the stick in his ass and the cage around his heart.

I had read Harper's Jane Jameson series and liked the humor in it. She delivers once again with Driving Mr. Dead. I giggled through a good portion of it and my only complaint would be the length. I would have liked to see more of the developing relationship between Miranda and Collin.

If you're looking for a super quick, fun, witty read complete with pink boobs, exploding cars and stolen spiced peaches...as well as interesting characters and a sweet romance...look no further.

Quick note on the narrator, Amanda Ronconi, she does a fairly decent job overall. Though her voice for Collin was a tad odd. Yes, he's stiff (ha!) but it was a little much at times.
