Publisher's summary

Half human and half Wyr, Pia Giovanni spent her life keeping a low profile among the Wyrkind and avoiding the continuing conflict between them and their Dark Fae enemies. But after being blackmailed into stealing a coin from the hoard of a dragon, Pia finds herself targeted by one of the most powerful---and passionate---of the Elder Races.

As the most feared and respected of the Wyrkind, Dragos Cuelebre cannot believe someone had the audacity to steal from him, much less succeed. And when he catches the thief, Dragos spares her life, claiming her as his own to further explore the desire they've ignited in one another.

Critic reviews

"This is an outstanding blend of romantic suspense and urban fantasy with great storytelling and world building, extremely sensuous scenes that move the story arc along, and characters [listeners] will be reluctant to leave." ( Booklist)

Great Story!

This was a great story! The background of the characters and world is great. The character development and ground work for any continuing stories was well done. It's hard not to fall in love with the characters and root for them. Though Pia, the main female character, has her emotional girly moments, they are very understandable and it's easy to relate to them with the chaos of her life during the course of the book.
I really enjoyed the story, but have to say that I wish the narrator had a bit more smoother of a reading style. It's a little bit of a distraction from the story. This shouldn't be a deterrent from buying the book though as it's a great story!

If you like paranormal romance...

This was a great listen! I have passed this series by so many times and finally decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. The story was really good. The characters were great. The dialogue was funny. I laughed a lot and listened to a few scenes twice. I know and like the narrator. She did a good job with a lot of different male voices.

Can I have a dragon too!!!

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me entertain from beginning to end. I am a huge para freak and I have read or listen to every paranoral romance I can get my hands on. So let tell me tell you something...it made want a dragon of my own. I like my men a bit grumpy;p. Anyways its not the best written book but the narrator did a great job with the voices. The main female character was a little whinny but not to much to take away from the sorry. The author will give you a whole new look on the paranormal. It was fresh and cute...ohhh and let's not forget steamy. Oh how wish I had a dragon of my own.... any ways again. The dialoge is not shakespear but hey I understood and could relate to how the author spoke for her characters. If you are young at heart and can get down with a little slang here and there then you should look into the book. This is the first of a probably long series. So if u don't want to invest...this would probably not work out for you. Hot shapeshifting men (sigh). Some action. Sexy romance. A little main character whinny. Great character voices. Entertaining all togather.....hope you likey:)

Decent Paranormal

This is a pretty good paranormal story and decent start to a series. The characters were a bit unusual (not cookie-cutter, even for this genre) and the whole dragon thing was different. The writing is decent and I felt the story flowed pretty well. This story only flirted a little bit with cliche', but was by no means burdened with it. Any traces of cliche' are mainly found in Dragos' character, with the whole Alpha-male Paranormal supreme-being type of thing. All things considered, I liked the characters pretty well. I was entertained by the story, though some of the dialogue and the ways the characters related to each other did not keep me completely connected to them throughout the entire story. Some of the dialogue and interaction seemed a bit like people on a reality-tv show to me, and that's not really my favorite. Just my opinion. The narration was good. Overall a worthwhile listen, engaging enough that I would continue on with the series.

Well, Well, Well.....

I have found another great series to listen to! I just love a good book that is written well and has everything in it, action, suspense, romance, and humor. I wished I did not wait so long to listen to the first book but will continue with the series.

50 Shades of Dragons

While I knew this was going to be a romance novel, what I didn't know is how damn much I'd enjoy it. Take 50 Shades of Grey, substitute Sebastian Grey with a 1,500 year old dragon and add in a wicked sense of humor by a really talented author and you have the formula for Dragon Bound. It's light, playful, and doesn't take itself too seriously where the Psy-Changeling series sometimes does. While it has some of the same predictability that all romance novels tend to, the ability of the author to be playful and laugh a little really brought this book home for me.

I think I've found a new series.

A series to savor

Any additional comments?

Although I am a devoted fan, so many of the various series in this genre are predictably weak in character development. Not all, but many. The formula is always the same: A group of muscle-bound males with special powers, who are devoted to each other and live in a compound, overcome trials and tribulation as they: 1) seek to find their perfect love match, or 2) are determined to never have a mate. Either way, sexy time ensues. All the women are perfect and variously described as curvy or small breasted and slender. Other than that, the women really don't have much to do until bedtime.

While offering a similar sequence of events in her Dragon Bound series, the comparison is only superficial. Unlike others who write paranormal romance novels, Thea Harrison actually writes books. Her characters have dimension, their stories are complex and the issues they have to overcome are interesting and original. Even sexy time is original the way Harrison writes it.

Most of the time, I devour these series like bon bons -- and they're about as filling. And most of the time, I can't wait for the next book to come out.

Not so with this series. As far as I'm concerned, Thea Harrison needs to take her time and write good books. Her books are worth waiting for.
