Since half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her undead lover Bones met six years ago, they’ve fought against the rogue undead, battled a vengeful Master vampire, and pledged their devotion with a blood bond. Now it’s time for a vacation. But their hopes for a perfect Paris holiday are dashed when Cat awakes one night in terror. She’s having visions of a vampire named Gregor, who’s more powerful than Bones and has ties to her past that even Cat herself didn’t know about.
Gregor believes Cat is his and won’t stop until he has her. As the battle begins between the vamp who haunts her nightmares and the one who holds her heart, only Cat can break Gregor’s hold over her. She’ll need all the power she can summon in order to bring down the baddest bloodsucker she’s ever faced … even if getting that power will result in an early grave.

I am dyslexic! If it wasn't audible I would not even be able to know what's in a book. I found out I love books.
loved it great story i would listen to it again
loved it great story i would listen to it again
Almost a year ago, I had amassed credits on my account and found a few books to use them up and close my account. One of them was the first book in this series. My 17-year old daughter and I listened to that book late this summer while traveling and I had to rejoin Audible just to get the entire series. The sex scenes can be a bit much, but that would be my only complaint. This series is addictive. We blasted through 5 books in a few weeks and were anxiously awaiting the next credits.
The story: The characters are believable and engaging. They are dynamic. The plots are interesting and fast-moving with just enough twists to keep a sharp mind attentive. The sex scenes are believable and fairly graphic (for my 17-year old, but we openly discuss such things so I was okay with it.) One big caveat: Go to her website to get the reading order. I believe that after book 3, you need to switch to the "Night Huntress World" series before reading books 4 and 5. Double check that, I'm going from memory.
The performance: The reader was FANTASTIC. She really brought the characters to life. She made the action scenes and scenes with emotion really shine. I've since gone looking for other things that she reads.
If another installment of this series came available, it would jump to the top of my wish list.
I'm a huge Jeaniene Frost fan. Even more, I am crazy for Mac and Bones.
This was a disappointing book, though. There was less romance in the last book, but it was an enthralling, moving plot.
This book has a totally random story. No spoilers here. So there's not a lot I can say to explain my rating. There is far less romance and affection between cat and bones. Maybe readers will say that's how marriage is, but there were several ways to create tension with the characters (I can think of three great ways off top of my head) without resorting to the extremes in this book.
I found myself too upset to pay attention to the plot. And the editor did a poor job, as many meaningless scenes lagged on, frustrating me because cat and bones relationship between cat and bones is in serious jeopardy most of the novel. And they fight the rest of the time when they are together.
This is not the best of the series.
I still don't know what the true nature of cat and bones' relationship is according to vampire law.
Tavia Gilbert and Jeaniene Frost together are heaven! Jeaniene writes the most amazing Charters and Tavia breaths life into them with her wonderful voice! I am in love with each and every book in the series!!
I am thrilled with Jeaniene Frost's books and I cant seem to get enough of them.. The narrater Tavia Gilbert does a fabulous job of making you feel like you are sitting and watching a movie not listening to a book. I highly recommend the Night Huntress World and The Night Huntress Series. Just love them. A very satisfied listener.. :)
I really enjoyed this audible, it was the first one i read from the series but i was able to grasp all the characters easily. The only thing i struggled with was Bones voice, to me it just did not represent his character, i nearly didn't continue to listen but I'm glad i did. The narration was good, just felt Bones needed a more stronger voice. Will definitely listen to Book 5.
Jeaniene Frost does an excellent job of creating characters in this world that --- although fantasy --- seems so real!!! This series has captured my heart and I am totally addicted. Bones' accent could have been better but the narrator does an excellent job with Kat and all the others that this is easily forgiven. I love you Bones!!!
This book has so much emotion from Bones and Cat. I believe they settled alot of issues in this story. Can not wait for the next one.
Really try to read more highbrow, but escape to urban paranormal, fluffy romance... ah the shame of it...
All they do is argue and make stupid choices. I love the characters, but want them to face adversity besides themselves.
Nurse, mom, loved to read....but now I love to listen. When I retire I hope to hear waves crashing in 1 ear and audible in the other!
If you haven't met Cat and Bones you are missing out! Start at book 1 and you will be hooked. I fell in love with Cat and Bones in book 1 and when I listen to the next story I fall in love all over again! Their adventures are daring and dangerous and their together times are sexy and very hot! The narration is fabulous...when a story brings tears to my eyes, the narrator deserves at least half the credit!
