    "Good foundation"

After listening to Immortal Rules which was an absolutely awesome listen, I had to go back and get this prequel to the story. Dawn of Eden laid a good foundation to the story. If you like stories involving vampires coupled with the intense fight to prevent human extinction and all told by a really good narrator, this audiobook is a gem.

"A must read before reading Blood of Eden"

I read Blood of Eden first and then when this audio was available I got it and I realized I made a HUGE mistake. This audio sets you up for the first book in the series. When I listened to Dawn of Eden it was good but I wish I had listened to this first. I was confused quite a bit. The story was good so there wasn't any problems there. I think and this is my opinion that if you have read Blood of Eden then don't bother with this audio unless you want to know what happened to get things the way they are in Blood of Eden. Its a must read/listen to before reading the first book in the series. The story was well written and it lets the reader know how things happened to get you ready for the first book.

    "Awesome Prequel"

Firstly, Julie Kagawa, I'm a fan. I love that this series is about the frightening vampires I grew up with. Though there are humorous parts, this book is intense.

Again, no glittering, cuddling vampires here. It's pretty vicious at times. A great dystopian story.

This came after the original trilogy, Blood of Eden. It's not something you must read in order to start the trilogy but it's a fun read and worth your time.

    "Great prequel!"
Where does Dawn of Eden rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

At the top, along with the rest of the BLOOD OF EDEN series.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved getting a first hand account of the world right after the Red Lung disease wipes out much of humanity & the beginnings of rabidism and the spread of the virus. I also enjoyed Ben & Kylie's relationship, along with the seemingly irreparable father-son relationship between Ben & his dad.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Then here are so many for such a short book, but I think the part when Ben's stubborn dad doesn't listen to Ben & Kylie and disaster ensues was the best part of the book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"Red Lung Disease & Rabidism: When S@#$ Hits the Fan!"

    Any additional comments?

This was a well-written, well preformed to prequel and I really enjoyed the insight of how both diseases began to destroy Earth as we know it. I wish it had been longer and I would suggest outright purchasing the audiobook instead of spending a whole credit on it. It cost less than $4 and it was well worth every penny. Highly recommended!

    "Great intro!"
    Any additional comments?

This was a great intro into a whole new world by a new writer ( for me) ! So far I have read 3 in this series and I think they are must reads! Yes it is a vampire book but yet a dystopian novel and nothing like twilight! The action, the passion, its just WOW!

    "In the Beginning!"

I thank you Julie for giving the "The Immortal Rules," book a beginning! Dawn of Eden answered all my questions that were not answered in book first book. I really enjoyed reading it, oops, listening to it. It could have been a litttttle bit longer, :-)

Can't wait for the 4th to come out.

    Story
"A (bad) Harlequin romance with zombies"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This book is a Harlequin Luna imprint, described by its editor as a place for "female-focused fantasy." Well, it's poorly written and irredeemably cliched even for a Harlequin of any imprint, but it currently has a 4.1 average rating so it must appeal to people who like this sort of thing.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I have been craving light and humorous lately, and Carl Hiassen's Skinny Dip is fun enough so far. It reminds me of an episode of the Rockford Files with a sprinkling of Columbo.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

It wasn't the easiest book to read because the dialogue is so inane, but Therese Plummer does not do male voices well at all. I also found it irritating that the Illinois farmer was read as as a stereotypical southern hick.

What character would you cut from Dawn of Eden?

    All of them.

    Any additional comments?

There is a rather graphic sex scene. My understanding is that this is the prequel to a series geared more to YA audiences. This is definitely not YA. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
