In this highly anticipated fifteenth novel in the Immortals After Dark series, number one New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole spins a sultry tale of a mighty warrior scarred inside and out and the beguiling sorceress with the power to heal him - or vanquish him forever.
As a boy, Thronos, prince of Skye Hall, loved Lanthe, a mischievous Sorceri girl who made him question everything about his Vrekener clan. But when the two got caught in the middle of their families’ war, tragedy struck, leaving Thronos and Lanthe bitter enemies. Though centuries have passed, nothing can cool his seething need for the beautiful enchantress who scarred his body—and left an even deeper impression on his soul.
Lanthe, a once-formidable sorceress struggling to reclaim her gifts, searches for love and acceptance with all the wrong immortal suitors. But she’s never forgotten Thronos, the magnificent silver-eyed boy who protected her until she was ripped from the shelter of his arms. One harrowing night changed everything between them. Now he’s a notorious warlord with a blood vendetta against Lanthe, hunting her relentlessly.
Can the heat of desire burn brighter than vengeance?
With their families locked in conflict and battles raging all around them, will Thronos and Lanthe succumb to the brutal chaos that threatens everything they cherish? Or will the fragile bond they formed so long ago spark a passion strong enough to withstand even the darkest doubts?

Few authors manage to keep a complex storyline fresh through so many books (14) like Kresley Cole. Throughout the series Cole has paired the most unusual but credible characters who are each so different, with different challenges and personalities. But in this installment we finally get an inkling as to the method for the madness in delicious returns of recurring characters like Nix. In this tale we get glimpses into why Nix has been meddlingg since the beginning of the series, and we get further direction into Nix's own story arc.
What has surprised me so much is how so many books she wrote in the series have a point-in-time intersection in the immortal prison island and then each expand outward in different plots. Many of these such as Declan and Regin, Malkom & Carrow, Uiellum & Chloe and of course the incomparable lunatic Lothaire ( recent books preceding Dark Skye), follow a similar outline of epic obstacles in the fantasy multi-verse, romantically resistant characters, but feature such richly detailed stories they each stand out and alone.
Cole's uniqueness in this genre is her ability to weave complex but riveting adventurous tales of romantic pursuit, with strong physical desires that become tempered by intense self-sacrificial love. While Cole doesn't hold back describing erotic scenes, one isn't struck by the gratuitous nature of the scenes, but a furthering of the growing bonds between our two heros.
Of course, the series wouldn't be so wonderful to listen to had anyone but Robert Petkoff been the performer. Petkoff's versatility in voices and accents is astounding. I've listened to around 500 audiobooks in the past few years, and few compare to his flawless and compelling delivery.
If you are new to Kresley Cole, note that the price of the audiobooks is one of the best buys in romantic fiction. Superb writing, excellent suspense and adventure, crazy poignant love stories and some of the best audio performance out there--the prices of many of the books in this series are well below a credit and making it the best bang for your romance buck.
Strongly recommend this book for credit or cash.
I love this serie and I love the narrator Robert , it is sooo good ,
There is nothing Else to say !!!!
Try it , it is worth all the money !
And I'm never disappointed! LOVED this story! Even though I have to say that Sorceresses are not my favorite "Lore" beings (ultimate hedonists seem like the ultimate selfish, shallow, pointless creatures...), I really came to care about the heroine and her Reckoner. The slow development of their relationship as they narrowly escape one sticky spot after another was very entertaining. I finished it and immediately listened again. Amazing how Cole creatively weaves the story lines of so many characters in her fantasy world. Love the "fated" romances and the sexy times, but that alone is not what makes her stories so good. There is adventure, character development and actual PLOTS, which makes everything she writes an automatic buy for me.

Kresley Cole writing skills and Robert Petkoff narrating abilities make the whole series work. Together they make "Immortals After Dark" phenomenal.
How Thronos and Lanthe first met and his cute nick name for her. ****Spoiler Alert**** Also, it touched me at the end of the story when he was getting his memory back he used her nick name. SO... touching!
Honestly... all of them.
I wasn't ready for it to end by a long shot. I wanted more.... Kresley makes characters and stories come to life.
Buy it NOW! You wont regret it at all. Buy the whole series if you haven't already!!!
Love this series, Love the Lore, Love all the characters in this world. Love Lanthe and Thonos! I look forward to every one of these books in IAD series. I usually get bored after about the 8th book in a series but not this one, I could never get bored with. I do hope there is another book to follow. Would like a Nix book. (who wouldn't).........
Someone left a review what this book was left in a cliffhanger! WRONG DO NOT BELIEVE THAT REVIEW. There is NO CLIFFHANGER. It is just as good as all the previous books.
Love Love Love Robert Petkoff! Best male narrator ever!
This much anticipated book in the IAD series was nothing less than perfect! This isn't a spoiler, but there's a line in the book referencing an "EPIC STORY" and I agree 100%. I thoroughly enjoy how characters from previous stories have little cameos, and you get a sneak peak into how their lives have evolved. I LOVED Thronos and Lanthe, they had the kind of love that was truly everlasting, with all the ups and downs that come with it. Dark Skye gives you action, romance, humor and more, and left me with a huge grin from ear to ear; I'm eagerly awaiting what happens next! This was an amazing read/listen that I highly recommend. It's best to start with the first one in the series...they're all phenomenal so it's well worth the time and credit to listen to each one.
The story was okay and I typically love Kelsey Cole's books but I just never really connected with this one.
I think you'll have to read it to follow the future books.
Fiction: I like Young Adult, Historical, Fantasy, Romance, Classics. Non-Fiction: I like Historical, Military, Memoirs.
Yes! Robert Petkoff does an outstanding job, once again, and his narration makes the book even more enjoyable. He plays each character with a unique voice and accent that carries over from book to book.
All of Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark books take on a similar formula, but each couple is unique and that's what makes the books so much fun. An earlier IAD instalment, Demon from the Dark, also spends a significant amount of time on a demon plane.
Yes, and he does a great job, once again.
IAD fans will be happy with this instalment! I really like how the books are all tying together now, and I went back and listened to a couple earlier books to pick up on little plot points mentioned in this book that I may have missed the first time around in the other books.
Busy mom who loves to read but doesn't always have the time. I enjoy YA, Romance and the occasional Best Seller.
Hands down one of the best paranormal romance series EVER! Most tend to get stale after too many books, but this one keeps getting better and better. This is number 14 in the Immortals After Dark series and it is as fresh as the first. I love how Ms. Cole weaves the timelines of her books together and revisits moments we have seen by other characters in previous books. It's just brilliant! I wish I could give this book (and the series) 10 stars!
Despite the first Book, A Warlord Wants Forever, which I high suggest to be redone by Petkoff and not half split between two narrators, Petkoff makes this series outstanding. He is perfect and never once does he not act the part of the characters. He is engaging and a love this series more because of him. Don't change. I am floored by his skill.
Not only the ability for Cole to continue to create a world weaved into depths and creativity, she is on book fourteen and it is no less impressive or creatively evolved then the last. I almost feel as this book was more of the last before the storm and I actually feel sated with where things are standing. But its time for the big blow out. Maybe that just means she'll continue to captivate us further.
Never once did I feel he missed a part where the book expressed more form the writing. He acted out everything as a real act on stage or on film would. I'll praise his skill loudly.
It's long so if there wasn't any other pressing life matters to be had, then yes. I would love to be able to listen to them all in consecutive order from start to finish.
What else do you have?
