Bestselling author Kresley Cole continues her seductive Immortals After Dark series with this tale of a vampire shunned even by his own kind and a beautiful phantom, bound together by a passion they cannot resist.A RAVEN-HAIRED TEMPTRESS OF THE DARK...
Néomi Laress, a famous ballerina from a past century, became a phantom the night she was murdered. Imbued with otherworldly powers but invisible to the living, she haunts her beloved home, scaring away trespassers - until she encounters a ruthless immortal even more terrifying than Néomi herself.
A VAMPIRE WARRIOR CONSUMED BY MADNESS...
To prevent him from harming others, Conrad Wroth's brothers imprison him in an abandoned manor. But there, a female only he can see seems determined to drive him further into madness. The exquisite creature torments him with desire, leaving his body racked with lust and his soul torn as he finds himself coveting her for his own.
HOW FAR WILL HE GO TO CLAIM HER?
Yet even if Conrad can win Néomi, evil still surrounds her. Once he returns to the brutality of his past to protect her, will he succumb to the dark needs seething inside him?

Haven't purchased the print version, and unless I'm buying it so Robert Petkoff can come to my house to read it out loud to me, I won't be doing so anytime soon.
The sexual tension between the characters before they get together. SO hot and yet so extremely touching.
Every single freaking word of the entire book. The man could probably make a reading of the dictionary an intimate affair. If I had my choice, he would narrate EVERY SINGLE romance/ erotic novel out there. Seriously, Kresley Cole is one lucky author. I couldn't STAND the plot of the first novel in this series, but I kept listening because the narration is so on point. Like whoa. Dot com.
This entire story moved me. I kind of did an audio marathon as soon as I came across these novels and when I got to this one it was like a revelation. No heroines acting the fool turning down some demigod who wants nothing more than to pleasure her at every waking moment. No ma'am! I enjoyed every single moment of this story, and have actually listened to it twice it was that good.
Although it helps to read the other books prior to this one for peripheral background purposes, this could stand alone. So if you can't stand the bickering star-crossed lover thing (the first 3 books) just go in for the kill with this one. I've read 6 books from this series and this is still easily my favorite. But seriously, Robert Petkoff MAKES these books. It's worth listening to just for the sweet love he makes to your ears.
It seems the premise is sex with a small bit of story. Other authors have a great deal of action, great character development , humor and sex.
I am not sure none of my favorite authors books are about to be released.
His narration was good. His character voices were just okay.
Frustration. I kept waiting for story or character development that would create a desire to know more. I finally gave up.
Voracious reader/listener: I usually have one ebook and one audiobook going at a the same time. I'm a very eclectic reader so I tend to switch genres after every book. I'm open to most genres but my favorites in audio are mystery and fantasy (epic and urban both).
Everybody who has read my reviews of this series knows I'm still going because I love the narration not because I like the books. This one was the worst of the lot. As usual, there was a lot of corny dialogue and the hero was very similar to previous ones but the solution to the conflict was mind boggling and unbelievable even for PNR standards.
The first part of the book was really boring because there was little action and neither Conrad nor Néomi were THAT different or interesting. The second part is more exciting but some parts are really maddening - at some point, Néomi is in terrible danger and Conrad saves her using the most convoluted route, involving talking and talking and talking!
Robert Petkoff was amazing as usual (I probably would have dnfed it if it weren't for him.) I may continue the series because I have higher hopes for the next book but I think I'll schedule my listen when I'm in a really bad streak. Listening to this book after the Kate Daniels series just served to pinpoint the holes in the world building.
Avid Reader when not teaching, being a Mommy, or gamer. Loves just about anything!
Yes, just because I love the interaction of the Valkyries.
I prefer the Growly Werewolves to the Vampires, but this one is a good entry in the series.
Any scene with the Valkyries.
Please please please produced these faster with Mr. Petkoff as the narrator!
Yes the books are hot with a good plot. They have just enough sex, not overwhelming, or so long that after a while you skip through them because it's always the same sex scene over and over. The Narrator is yummy, the books about werewolf's with Scottish brogue are mind blowing.
All are great, I can't single one out.
His voice and emotion are unbeatable!!!!
Wanted to but had to work so it took 3 days. I want the rest of the series, I hate waiting for books when they are so good.
So far all the book in this series are great, the narrator is hot and I want more. I've listened to many books in this genre and a lot of the time the author gets to caught up in the sex scenes and not enough in the story. These books have the right amount of both with a good plot. I would love to hear more of the Scottish brogue in future books. All in all love them!!!
I would recommend this my friends. Ms. Cole does a great job of world building so that you are easily immersed. Robert Petkoff is also amazing.
I loved Conrad. He's a bad guy who is impossible to write off as just being evil.
I loved the scene where Conrad gathered the newspapers for Noemi.
what a narrator! Great book, and Robert Petkoff puts icing on the cake. I can not wait until the next book. Robert, I know you'll make Cade sound devilishly rough. YUM-YUM!
Robert Petkoff does a wonderful job with the narration... as always
Kresley Cole always does such a great job with creating her characters , i could never choose just one
I was hooked from the first chapter
As with all of the IAD books you find yourself laughing alot
Definitely worth a credit!
Yes, I would listen to this more than once. I love Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series and the icing on top is Robert Petkoff reading it. He is absolutely the best narrator! He does amazing things with his voice. I love to go back and listen again and again.
I love all the characters. Don't make me pick one because it's too hard.
Robert Petkoff brings "it". That's it, he just brings "it". His voice is amazing. He really draws you into the story with his change in character voices and accents.
Yes, all of the above! I loved it.
More Robert Petkoff !!!!!! (I'm impatiently waiting for the rest of the IAD series)
These books just get better and better. I loved the fact that Conrad was the virgin full of angst and insecurity, and Naomi was the experienced one. That sure makes a nice change. It nearly had me on my knees when Conrad showed his vulnerability. Robert Petkoff's portrayal of the characters is wicked. You feel like you've been in the room with them. I laughed when an exasperated Bowen informed Mariqueta 'they were gonna have words' after she got caught in the mirror, and cried when Conrad broke when he thought Naomi had died. I'm glad Robert is the narrator of choice for this series as it helps keep character continuity. Can't wait for more IAD - go Nix!
