Publisher's summary

Zarek's Point of View:

Dark-Hunter: A soulless guardian who stands between mankind and those who would see mankind destroyed. Yeah, right. The only part of that Code of Honor I got was eternity and solitude.

Insanity: A condition many say I suffer from after being alone for so long. But I don't suffer from my insanity-I enjoy every minute of it.

Trust: I can't trust anyone...not even myself. The only thing I trust in is my ability to do the wrong thing in any situation and to hurt anyone who gets in my way.

Truth: I endured a lifetime as a Roman slave, and 900 years as an exiled Dark-Hunter. Now I'm tired of enduring. I want the truth about what happened the night I was exiled-I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Astrid (Greek, meaning star): An exceptional woman who can see straight to the truth. Brave and strong, she is a point of light in the darkness. She touches me and I tremble. She smiles and my cold heart shatters.

Zarek: They say even the most damned man can be forgiven. I never believed that until the night Astrid opened her door to me and made this feral beast want to be human again. Made me want to love and be loved. But how can an ex-slave whose soul is owned by a Greek goddess ever dream of touching, let alone holding, a fiery star?

Love in vein: listen to another Dark-Hunter novel.

"In turns angst-filled and laugh-out-loud funny, her latest once again delivers a sensual, fast-paced read with a hero who is definitely worth the risk." ( Booklist)

Dark-Hunter: Dance with The Devil

Zarek, as a dark hunter, was taken back home to Alaska wilderness, where he was banished for his war crime. It is meant to be his isolation and prison, where he did not have any association with humans as a punishment from their gods. After he was back home, he had a surprise from the gods whose plan was to have him killed. However, at the same time, they also have to be judged by one of their gods' justices. Nevertheless, somehow, he was freed because of the decision he made to set free the demon that was supposed to kill him. But the choice for the better could not have come easily at all. It was because of the reason for the Dark-Hunter existence. Again, this dark hunter human life was a thing that was not accepted because of the reason behind his conception. The experience that both parents gave him was nothing but hell; his father, who was a Roman general, did not want him because who his mother was as a slave. But his mother also was a heartless beach that had no business having a child. She also contributed to all the pain and suffering that Zarek's life became, both in the hands of the father, his brothers, and slave masters and owners. He was a very immoral man with many vicious personalities. He should not have all that happen to Zarek if only he were a father to him instead of him taking out his pain on Zarek. Great book, and I enjoyed the flow of the story because from the beginning to the end, there were many instances of a teachable moments.

Bravo, Mr. Berman

First off, the narration of this book greatly improved my listening experience. All of the characters had a distinct voice and were easily distinguished from each other. My favorite character in this book was Simi, Berman did such a good job voicing this character it blew me away.
This book brought my interest back to this series. Although the books are very popular, I did not love the previous novels. In fact, I only purchased this story because it was on sale and am so glad I did. My interest in Dark Hunters has been renewed.
I really enjoyed this story. The hero is a flawed man who has lived through brutal experience and gross injustice after gross injustice. Very early in this book readers are able to discern the realZarek from the one perceived by the rest of the world. My one and only complaint is that by comparison the heroine is flat and not very well developed.
I also appreciated all of the secondary characters and look forward to hearing more about them in subsequent stories.

Favorite in a great series

The Dark Hunter series is the perfect mix of romance, action and humor. Holds your interest while making you swoon. Narration is fantastic. I have listened to this series more than once, which is a rarity for me.

Pretty good

This is a typical book by an author whose books all have essentially the same plot, with a couple of notable exceptions. It's not the kind of book you will remember very long after you read it, but it's enjoyable. It's sexy. It's pure fun. Don't over-think the story or the characters and you will have a fine time.

Don't expect great literature. This is a great beach read or time filler on a rainy day. Narration is good, and the story moves along at a nice pace. Definitely a "chick" book.

Wow

This is a tough listen because it’s hard to hear about so much suffering and cruelty even when they’re fictional.
