When Krista catches her boss doing the unthinkable, the only thing she can do is run - straight into the arms of the eye candy she's been trying not to flirt with on her lunch break. But whose side is he on?
Ryan's security firm is having a hard time getting off the ground, and this may be just the job to help the company out. But pseudo-bounty hunter isn't really what Pierce Securities is trying to get a name for. When he finds out their target is the classy lady from the park, all of Ryan's senses go on high alert. What do these men want with her?
Krista is forced into Ryan's sanctuary in the woods, where she realizes just how wild he is, but she doesn't want to tame him. He may feel his methods of protection endangered her, but without Krista in his life, Ryan is crazed.
This is book number one in Pierce Securities, a romantic suspense series by Anne Conley, author of Stories of Serendipity and The Four Winds.

The performance of this book was the most painful thing I've ever had to endure. In fact, it's the first book I've never finished because I couldn't stand the performer's different voices she tried to do. The actual story seems decent but the lady reader ruined it for me.
The story lacked tension. Every time the bad guy got close, it just didn't go anywhere and fizzled out. Until the bad guy kidnapped the heroine and then it got really dark. The writing was occasionally clumsy.
I liked almost all of the characters. The hero didn't quite do it for me, but I thought the rendition of the heroine was good.
The narrator. More charming than the story deserved.
Sarah Grant has a voice that needs to be heard often. More authors need her.
The book itself was great suspense, romance in an under current way. Just enough mystery to keep things interesting. I'm hoping the next book is as good.
Probably. I really enjoyed it once I got over the horror of her boss being a pedo. It made the story both terrifying and exhilarating.
The barbecue at Ryan's!
Sarah Grant performed all the characters very well, but I especially adored her portayal of Krista. I felt her pain and misgiving as well as her joy and relief. The suspense and horror were palpable and I felt fully immersed in the story. I truly hope she carries on with the series as I cannot imagine these characters voiced by anyone else :)
No! It was waaay too intense :) I needed a few breaks to deal with the horror of her situation and the pure evilness of the villians! It was an amazing experience!
This series must be listened to (or read) in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to listen to Wire!
Krista has always been a little creeped by her boss Mr. Lowe... She just has no idea why. Him inviting her and her nephew Tate for a private weekend at his vacation house on the river makes her feel very odd. He didn't mention inviting Tate's parents... But that was an implied invitation right? Why would he want the two of them only? Who is the gorgeous guy who always kinda flirts with her in the park at lunch?
Working late one night to finish the reports she has due leads Krista to see something she cannot unsee. She thought she was alone in the office. All she was doing was her job. Finding her boss with a naked young boy in his office while another masked man watched and recorded as he fondled the boy made ALL the misgivings and odd feelings she had ever had about him click into place. She grabs the boy and runs straight to the cops. After the interrogation by a second officer who implicates her in the crime and calls into question the validity of her claims about "such an upstanding citizen" she realizes she has to run... And disappear... Before they make her disappear for good. Will the boy be safe? Can she get safely away? Will her family be safe? Especially Tate? How is she going to survive?
Ryan has been hired to track down and turn over Krista, the sexy classy woman he has been admiring from afar in the park for over a month. Something about the case doesn't sit well with him. Above all, some unreasonable part of him feels the need to keep her safe. What has she gotten herself into? What exactly could she have stolen that was important enough to hire a private security firm to hunt her down for? Why does this job make him feel so uneasy?
This book has many comedic moments to balance the horror and terror of the subject matter. I found it very enjoyable even though it contained elements that I would normally avoid. I can't see how this book could be done any other way :) It was truly an intense nail biter right up until the very end!
***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy their romantic suspense with a great deal of horror and plenty of thrills, chills, action, mystery and romance with the requisite HEA :)
Yes this audio was awesome
all of them she was a great narrator she brought them alive it was like watching a movie
yes because it was action packed and thrilling it had danger for the characters and romance what else could you ask for
I loved the ebook and I loved the audio book Krista and Ryan were great to listen to and ill be listening again
"Not a bad read."
My biggest dislike is the narrator, Sarah had a nice speaking voice but not a good one to switch from one character to another.
The story is quite good, nicely written but the narration distracted me from it.
