Publisher's summary

Seven deadly sins. Seven souls that must be saved. One more no-holds-barred battle between Jim Heron, a fallen angel with a hardened heart, and a demon with everything to lose.

Isaac Rothe is a black-ops soldier with a dark past and a grim future. The target of an assassin, he finds himself behind bars, his fate in the hands of his gorgeous public defender, Grier Childe. His hot attraction to her is a totally wrong-place-wrong-time kind of thing - and that’s before Jim Heron tells him his soul is in danger. Caught up in a wicked game with the demon who shadows Jim, Isaac must decide whether the soldier in him can believe that true love is the ultimate weapon against evil....

Just as good!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It has a really going story going here, and it has a little mystery, and twists, so yeah, would totally suggest and I have!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I truly love all of them, can't really pick a favorite.

What does Eric G. Dove bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He does an excellent job with everyone and I know who's voice is who when I listen.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Again, yes!

A thrilling blend of Romance and Urban Fantasy

The second in Ms. Ward's Fallen Angel series and it didn't fail to please.

Jim Heron, now a full angel after his death at the end of book one and his success in saving the first of the seven souls, turns his attention to Boston and the second soul that hangs in the balance.

Issac Roth was once a member of the special ops team that Jim worked with, and his death has been ordered by Mathias, the man in charge of the team. An order that has come about due to Issac trying to leave the fold. In his attempt to earn money and also stay under the radar, Issac has been working as a fighter in the underground rings.

But a raid and his subsequent arrest brings him into contact with attorney Grier Childe, who volunteers x amount of hours each month, pro-bono, as a public defender.

But Grier isn't alone as the beautiful, intelligent woman is often accompanied by someone only she can see - the ghost of her dead brother.

Jim doesn't know, for certain, which soul he's meant to save, but one thing is certain. He's determined not to let Mathias kill Issac, or anyone else caught up in this situation. And if that wasn't difficult enough, Devina is still around, ready to throw a spanner in the works the first chance she gets.

A sensual, well written book that mixes urban fantasy, erotic romance, and paranormal romance.

As a narrator, Mr. Dove works very well for this book, and I look forward to listening to the third in the series.

Decent story

Had a few moments and where I felt lost with the story but it went back and picked up the details previously missed.

I Really Liked it... But...

Although I rated this book 4 stars, I would have preferred a 4.5 rating if it was possible.
First, for the positive. If you are a J.R. Ward and/or Black Dagger Brotherhood fan, Crave (and Covet) will not disappoint. For all of the fans who disliked reading about the Lessers in BDB, these books have much less detailed background about the demons so they will be pleased. What we do learn about Devina helps us understand her quirks and makes her into better evil being.
Ward has created a great leading man in Jim and he just keeps getting better. His character is coming along nicely. Jim's 2 sidekicks are becoming more likable and we are learning a little more about them.
I thought the narrator, Eric Dove, did an excellent job. I know that many fans were unhappy that Jim Frangione of the BDB series did not do the narration with this series, but I did not find a single problem with Dove. In fact, I think he did a fine job with Isaac's Mississippi accent.
As for the negatives of the book, there was one torture scene that was a little too graphic for me. I would have preferred to hear about that scenario in a little less detail. I'm not usually squeamish, but this is not for the faint of heart.
Grier and Isaac started out smoldering, but by the 2nd half of the book they had dropped by several degrees into a lukewarm relationship. It was a little disappointing.
There wasn't nearly as much "branding" in this book as in the BDB books. but most of it was well placed in the plot. A few spots missed completely. I'm all for slang and branding if the character calls for it, but a 50-something year old, suit-wearing, rich lawyer calling mushrooms "shrooms" is pushing it. Not likely to happen.
Overall, I think this book is a solid 4.5. I tend to get bored unless a book is very good and this kept my attention all the way through. I am waiting for the next book in the series. I think the series will continue to improve and I predict the next book will be a solid 5 stars.

Just finished the second in this series

I have had no experience with J.R.Ward prior to this series. The first book "Covet" I really enjoyed, and you could see the start of characters building in a series. This second book took the character building even further. I can't wait for the next book to come out Jim Heron, is a wonderful dark hero, suffering for the souls he tries to protect. The demons are evil, and there are some descriptive torture segments that may turn some readers off. However when dealing with ultimate "Evil" there are things that need to be shown to express the depths of this fight between the good and evil. Just think of the concentration camps in WWII and the experiments by doctor Mangler.
