Publisher's summary

Anthony Rawlings had a plan - to teach Claire Nichols to behave. Claire Nichols had a plan - to survive! In an unfamiliar bedroom within a luxurious mansion, Claire Nichols wakes to memories of a brutal abduction. All of her recollections have one common denominator, the man she just met - Anthony Rawlings. Unbeknownst to Claire, Anthony has had her in his sights for a long time. Every action has consequences - and his actions resulted in their chance meeting. Facing incomprehensible circumstances, Claire must learn to survive as she comes to terms with her new reality - every aspect of her livelihood is now dependent upon the tall, dark-haired, dark-eyed tycoon. Anthony may appear to the world as a prosperous, benevolent, kind businessman, but in reality Claire learns he is also a menacing, controlling captor with very strict rules: Do as you're told, public failure is not an option, and don't divulge private information. Failure to follow these rules, and more, is met with serious consequences.

In an effort to earn her freedom, Claire learns her lessons well, and before long, she unknowingly captivates her captor. Anthony/Tony reluctantly becomes enthralled with Claire's beauty, resilience, and determination. Their interaction instigates strong emotions - including fear, anger, love, and lust - as their journey flows into uncharted waters of intrigue and passion.

From the opening criminal abduction, through the twists and turns, to the unlikely romantic thrills, the suspense climaxes as Aleatha Romig utilizes vivid detail, allowing this novel to unfold like a movie. Can you put the pieces of the puzzle together? Claire Nichols abduction wasn't a random act - did she learn her lessons well enough? Will these unlikely lovers remain true - or will she learn the truth before it's too late?

Mad, Happy and Frustrated

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. Consequences frustrated me at every turn of the page. It made me not want to put it down. If you are into physiological suspense you will enjoy Consequences.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Consequences?

For me the most memorable moment was when Claire realized she could get the keys to the car and drive off by herself. After being under Tony's rule for so long she just wanted to go for a drive by herself.

Which character – as performed by Romy Nordlinger – was your favorite?

Claire of course, although Romy did a great job on Ton's voice also.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book brought out every emotion in me. I was angry, happy, sad and very frustrated about Tony's treatment of Claire. He was mister charming one minute and a devious monster the next. I loved his character and hated him at the same time.

Any additional comments?

Just started book 2 Truth and can't go fast enough to get to the next book. What a wonderfully exciting series. Loving every minute.

Now I have to listen to the second book

This will be quick and to the point. It was long but worth getting to the end. So now I have no choice but to listen to the next book. If you want to compare it to the Fifty Shade Series, you will be disappointed. No hot steamy sex. That is not what the book is about.

A fantastic twisted ride!

Would you listen to Consequences again? Why?

Yes, I am sure I missed some things & will pick up more when I re-read/re-listen to it. The story is very twisted & very good!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Fav character is Clare Nichols. Fav character to hate is Anthony Rawlings!

Which scene was your favorite?

I liked the wedding the best, but who doesn't love weddings?

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

More like dis-belief that any 1 man could be so twisted. Has he ever really loved anyone?

Any additional comments?

WOW, What a fantastic story! This is my very 1st read by this author & I already bought the other 2 audio books to this story. It was that good. A totally twisted plot that never disappoints or dies. Every time I thought noting more could happen, more did happen! I really recommend this book to anyone who loves a thrill ride, long & twisted! The author delivers more than our moneys worth!

So many emotions!

What made the experience of listening to Consequences the most enjoyable?

Romig played with my emotions so well! Even when I thought I knew better then Clair did… I still felt her emotions of loving, then hating Anthony!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Consequences?

When the stories started clicking together and the epiphany happened, I think I said out loud "WHAT?!"

What about Romy Nordlinger’s performance did you like?

Nordlinger did a great job. I could definitely tell what character was talking when.

Captures the Stockholm Syndrome / great narrator

What did you love best about Consequences?

Consequences took me on a wild ride and wouldn't let me go - a dark, dangerous ride. Chilling.

What did you like best about this story?

I like to guess what happens next, and this book kept me in suspense all the way through, it just kept on surprising me - shocking me actually. It really brings home what the Stockholm Syndrome must be like, what it feels like to be caught up in it.

Any additional comments?

I'm so glad I had this narrator for this book - her voice and delivery were dead on target emotionally with what was going on, and this can't have been an easy book to narrate. Excellent.

Way too long

This book could have been a lot shorter. It was too descriptive about locations and shopping in numerous points.
The narrator seemed to get her character voices confused in some parts where it would be Tony's words with Claire's voice.
I really do not want to move on to the next book in the series since they are all this long, but I want to hear the outcome.

Way to long, but good.

Nice twist at the end, however some of the scenes could have been left out....about 10 hours worth. I understand the author's attempt to get the audience to understand the magnitude of Tony's control, but you discover it and experience it over and over. Some times less is more. Would recommend, but honestly you can skip about 20 chapters and still experience the element of surprise at the end.

Frustrating, yet had my curiosity

A very frustrating story, but I had to find out how it ended. I wanted to shake Claire then I would feel sorry for her. Now I have to read the sequel.
The narrator messed up so many times, by not changing voices from Claire to Tony; kept confusing me as to who was talking.
Otherwise, enjoyed the book and I have to know what Claire does next.
