Publisher's summary

Anthony Rawlings had a plan - to teach Claire Nichols to behave. Claire Nichols had a plan - to survive! In an unfamiliar bedroom within a luxurious mansion, Claire Nichols wakes to memories of a brutal abduction. All of her recollections have one common denominator, the man she just met - Anthony Rawlings. Unbeknownst to Claire, Anthony has had her in his sights for a long time. Every action has consequences - and his actions resulted in their chance meeting. Facing incomprehensible circumstances, Claire must learn to survive as she comes to terms with her new reality - every aspect of her livelihood is now dependent upon the tall, dark-haired, dark-eyed tycoon. Anthony may appear to the world as a prosperous, benevolent, kind businessman, but in reality Claire learns he is also a menacing, controlling captor with very strict rules: Do as you're told, public failure is not an option, and don't divulge private information. Failure to follow these rules, and more, is met with serious consequences.

In an effort to earn her freedom, Claire learns her lessons well, and before long, she unknowingly captivates her captor. Anthony/Tony reluctantly becomes enthralled with Claire's beauty, resilience, and determination. Their interaction instigates strong emotions - including fear, anger, love, and lust - as their journey flows into uncharted waters of intrigue and passion.

From the opening criminal abduction, through the twists and turns, to the unlikely romantic thrills, the suspense climaxes as Aleatha Romig utilizes vivid detail, allowing this novel to unfold like a movie. Can you put the pieces of the puzzle together? Claire Nichols abduction wasn't a random act - did she learn her lessons well enough? Will these unlikely lovers remain true - or will she learn the truth before it's too late?

By far my favorite series!!!

Any additional comments?

It has been a while since a book provokes such powerful emotions in me. I cried of fustration, then I was mad, I hated Tony Rawlings and then I loved him. It was a roller coaster of emotions. I truly love this series!!!

The narrators voice

This woman's voice is only appropriate for Katherine not Claire ... I'm having a hard time listening to it maybe next time a younger woman of age 26 should be used and her Anthony voice is horrible as well I almost want my money back especially since I have read all books myself

2 years later and I can't stop thinking about it

Every time I search for a new book, I'm always hoping to find this series as a new release. I absolutely LOVED this series, read them all, and I always recommend this series to everyone,l it's definitely something if I still think about it and miss after 2 years.

Excellent Story but Way Too Long!

A good 200 pages could have been deleted out of this book. Long after establishing everything necessary for the story, it continues to drivel on and on. But the story, the psychological manipulation, and the underlying causes are what keeps you listening. There are twists and turns, some anticipated, some not. If I decide to get the second book, I hope it moves at a faster pace.

Narration was really hard to listen to

What made the experience of listening to Consequences the most enjoyable?

I like the story. I've read it myself and thought I would enjoy listening on a trip. I knew when things were going to get interesting and was able to pay more attention to the details I tend to skip over when reading.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Consequences?

When Claire decides that the only way to survive her nightmare and, maybe, escape is to surrender to her circumstances. She realizes that surrender, rather than being weak. requires much more strength. Even Anthony understands what it takes for her to submit to him and he comes to respect that.

Would you be willing to try another one of Romy Nordlinger’s performances?

No way. Her voice was so annoying to me I couldn't enjoy the story. Particularly when she spoke character's dialogue. The simpering voice for Claire and some kind of strange monotone Stepford wife thing for Catherine. And, dear lord, the voice she used for Anthony caused me to cringe every time it started. Just awful.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. This story needs to be pondered as it goes along. You need breaks to consider how your feeling about some of the truly awful things that are going on. I re-evaluated the characters often throughout the story. I also reviewed my feelings about their changing relationship as it progressed. That required stopping and taking breaks throughout.

Any additional comments?

Since I seem to be in the minority when it comes to the narrator I'm wondering if audio books are the best choice for me, at least when it comes to fiction. Maybe having someone else interpret the character for me is the problem. But, really, I couldn't listen to that nasally voice read anything and not want to toss the whole thing out.

I'm hooked!

What made the experience of listening to Consequences the most enjoyable?

I wasn't sure about this book at first - it took me a while to warm up to the story which is really different.

What does Romy Nordlinger bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I wasn't sure about the narration at first but I really liked Romy Nordlinger a lot. Her characters were really different with a lot of sensitivity and I liked her voice which is very unique.

Any additional comments?

I will move on to the next book because I feel like I need to know what happens. I was very lost in this strange and brutal world that Romig created and that Nordlinger narrated so well.

a little boring

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The same story, over and over and over. Girl oppressed by overbearing husband. Could've been shortened a great deal. Same script over and over again. I don't like folks not standing up for themselves.

Any additional comments?

Of course, I have to listen to the next rendition of the series in spite of everything.

OMG! Completley, Disturbingly, Fantastic!!!

There are so many mix reviews on this series, although I admit I was on the edge if I would take the plunge and try it. And OH so glad I did, I must say this series ranks up there with my top wow reads like Fifty Shades of Grey. . So worth the time it took to listen to this great written complex story that takes your breath away in more ways than one. Book 1, Consequences, is filled with a perverse vengeance that is so twisted but OMG to good to press stop. I am on to book 2 to indulge more of this sinister, demented, perversely good tale of vengeance gone wrong.

Unique story, a little too long

I really liked this. Different kind of story. But goodness it is long. A little too much detail that really didn't contribute to the story. But I would recommend this.

A.M./ P.M. OBSESSION! I'm not an idiot!

I don't write many reviews but am halfway through a fairly entertaining book and debating whether to finish it. The author, editor or someone obviously believed readers are too stupid to figure out that breakfast at 7:00 means A.M. unless otherwise stated. Every mention of time is punctuated with A.M. or P.M. to the point it is annoying as well as distracting. Enough already!
