Publisher's summary

Anthony Rawlings had a plan - to teach Claire Nichols to behave. Claire Nichols had a plan - to survive! In an unfamiliar bedroom within a luxurious mansion, Claire Nichols wakes to memories of a brutal abduction. All of her recollections have one common denominator, the man she just met - Anthony Rawlings. Unbeknownst to Claire, Anthony has had her in his sights for a long time. Every action has consequences - and his actions resulted in their chance meeting. Facing incomprehensible circumstances, Claire must learn to survive as she comes to terms with her new reality - every aspect of her livelihood is now dependent upon the tall, dark-haired, dark-eyed tycoon. Anthony may appear to the world as a prosperous, benevolent, kind businessman, but in reality Claire learns he is also a menacing, controlling captor with very strict rules: Do as you're told, public failure is not an option, and don't divulge private information. Failure to follow these rules, and more, is met with serious consequences.

In an effort to earn her freedom, Claire learns her lessons well, and before long, she unknowingly captivates her captor. Anthony/Tony reluctantly becomes enthralled with Claire's beauty, resilience, and determination. Their interaction instigates strong emotions - including fear, anger, love, and lust - as their journey flows into uncharted waters of intrigue and passion.

From the opening criminal abduction, through the twists and turns, to the unlikely romantic thrills, the suspense climaxes as Aleatha Romig utilizes vivid detail, allowing this novel to unfold like a movie. Can you put the pieces of the puzzle together? Claire Nichols abduction wasn't a random act - did she learn her lessons well enough? Will these unlikely lovers remain true - or will she learn the truth before it's too late?

Claire Nichols meets a charming man while bartending. Against all of her rules, she takes him up on his offer for dinner. She awakes to Hell… Kidnapped, assaulted and violated in every way by a cold man. He, Anthony Rawlings, a successful, very wealthy man has holdings all over the world but now his focus is on Claire. To survive, Claire learns that she must follow his rules. Each decision has a consequence, it can be good or it can be very, very bad.

I urge you to read the publisher's summary, on each book, for more details, as I'm afraid adding to it may it inadvertently reveal spoilers.

This psychological thriller has been sitting in my library for a few years, I purchased it when it was on sale and tried to pick up the rest of the series under the same circumstances (I ended up with 3 of the 8 books available at this time – 2017.) Finally, I decided to listen to Book 1 to see if it would draw me in. It DID and I was hooked. I devoured the whole series back to back – it took the better part of my Christmas holiday and then some. These are long books and I don't feel that a moment was wasted.

This is my 1st experience with narrator Romy Nordlinger and she is excellent. Consequences: Consequences, Books 1, 2, 3 and 5 are told from Claire's point of view (POV) and Nordlinger delivers. 5 stars

Sebastian York is one of my favorite male narrators and his performance is deserving of 5 stars plus
York performs Anthony/Tony's POV in books 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 and 4. He does an amazing job.

Credit worthy? YES!

Notations: some strong language, violence and (not graphic) allusions of sexual situations

A Severe & Horrific Case Of Stockholm Syndrome!!

For every action there is a consequence, thats what Claire learned from her time with Anthony a self made billionaire ... Its starts simple, a guy meets a girl and asks her out, but here this guy is called Anthony, and he is evil and mental... He forces Claire into a sick and mental relationship with him and during that time Claire suffered through severe physical and mental abuse.

Anthony convinced her that she has entered a legal binding agreement to work for him until she pays off her debt to him, from car and bank loans which he paid off, and when the abuse starts she started falling into a severe case of stockholm syndrome.

One thing regarding this book, before i came to its ending, I thought it was too long for nothing, but when i got to its ending, i understood why Aleatha Romig made it this long... Halfway through Consequences you will think "Ahhh, this is whats going to happen in the end" believe me thats not it, its ending was an OHHHHHHHHHHH S%^T moment, I didn't think such thing could happen... am just amazed of its ending.

Lets talk about the therapy part now.. Many reviewers said they can't go to sleep and they need therapy now... I agree, I'm going now to book my appointment.. You have to understand one thing, you will reach a point saying "Whats waw about this?" I did, but when you get to its ending you will understand that every action has a consequence!!!

Narration was really good..

Already got the 2nd book and reading/listening to it right now. Would like to now the consequences of Consequences :D

Great Book. Still Shaking My Head.

Everyone was talking about this series so I had to try it. I understood right away why it's caught so much attention of readers. There's so much going on and I became completely engrossed. It's a little bit romance, a little bit thriller, and a little bit suspense. I will definitely finish the full series.

OK book - liked the narrator

What did you like best about Consequences? What did you like least?

I liked it more and more as it went on. It's weird I agree with some of the other reviews, but I totally get why Claire feels so trapped and there's a lot going on.

I don't like all the characters and I don't always agree with her choices but I'm totally addicted to this first book so I'll definitely be moving on to the next one.

What does Romy Nordlinger bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I liked the narrator's voice, but most of all I felt like I was listening to what these people were thinking. She did a good job.

Umm..WOW

What did you love best about Consequences?

I didn't love anything about Consequences if I'm being honest. The writing was good but the subject is deeply disturbing.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Consequences?

The crazy twist was just WOW.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My extreme reaction was basically wtf. I only laughed in disbelief but no tears for me.

Any additional comments?

Crazy crazy story that I wanted to put down so many times.

Hmmm different

I wasn't sure I would like this book but it was very addictive even though it was hard to listen to at times. Tony was like two different people &Clare well she was a survivor I was really proud of the decision she made at the end of this book it put a bit of a spanner in the works for Tony!!!!!!!!

Read this book!

There was plenty to dislike about this book. I had a hard time with too much talk of food and random details that didn't do anything to add to the story, but those parts were easy to skim.

I also strongly disliked the narrator. Her voice was beyond irritating and everything felt flat. Even Claire, who through most of the book at at least some fight in her, seemed too meek and "ditzy". Reading was much more enjoyable.

The story itself - whoa! This book had me so angry, hopeful, and saying "What the fu-" on more than one occasion. Stockholm syndrome is no joke, and the realities of abuse, and how abuse works is painfully real! Lots of other readers kept saying Claire's character was spineless, etc have clearly not learned much about abuse and how it affects someone. The manipulation and control, AR nailed if.

I can't wait to see what happens next!

Ugh...

Did Consequences inspire you to do anything?

Yeah, punch myself in the face for reading this whole thing.

Any additional comments?

This book is infuriating. It should be re-named to "Kidnap (kinda) and downward spiral of the dumbest woman on the planet". It started out as a decent story and had some great sub-plots, however I was so irritated at the female lead that it was hard to concentrate. I have never wanted to violently shake someone so hard in my life. I won't be reading the remainder of the books, as I would probably stroke out from frustration of this idiot.

AMAZING

This book series is and will be a forever favorite! Excellent writing, amazing story plot... the suspense, emotions and roller coaster ride Aleatha Romig takes you on is unlike anything. I was looking for a new book series that really impressed me and made a lasting impression, and wow this did just that and more. I finished the series days ago and I can't stop thinking about it & telling everyone they NEED to read this!
