Single mom Vivi Vincent is thrust into her worst nightmare when she's trapped inside a mall during a terror attack along with her eight-year-old son. With the help of Jed Brennan, an FBI special agent on enforced leave, Vivi and her son survive the assault. But the danger is far from over.
Vivi's son may have witnessed critical details of the terrorists' future plans and is targeted for death, but he's mute, and he's traumatized. Still someone launches a strike against the FBI's safe house, and Jed fears the bad guys have an inside man. No longer knowing who to trust, he hides mother and son in a log cabin deep in the heart of the Wisconsin Northwoods. There Jed and Vivi try to figure out how to unlock the information inside her son's head. What they don't bargain for is the red-hot attraction that flares between them, or the extent of the sinister plot that threatens to rip apart not only any chance of happiness they might have together, but also the very fabric of American society.

Eric Dove narrates this series. He utilizes multiple accents to accomplish character voices. It is always clear who is speaking and how they are feeling.
If you're looking for a fast-paced, thrilling mystery this is the book for you!
I enjoy reading, listening and reviewing. I enjoy blogging. Doing what I enjoy giving feed back in hopes someone will try a new author.
Yes Toni is an outstanding author as this audio shows with a wonderful narrator who holds your interests from the first page to the last. This book as an outstanding plot with wonderful characters that you fall in love with. It has today issues which makes it a book you can relate to.
There are a lot of wonderful characters here but I liked Vivi's son even though he is afraid and has a learning disability he pushes ahead and saves the day.
For me Eric gave me site when I would not have had any, he painted pictures in my head that made the scene seem more real. His voice is easy to listen to and brings out the toughness of the characters.
Yes it sure was I had trouble putting it down.
Toni is a wonderful author her writing style is outstanding, she pulls you in from page one and never lets you go. You know when you pick up one of her books it is going to be a ride of your life as grabs your attention why spinning tales and twists that you never see coming. Her books are easy to relate to as she shows us with Vivi's son and his disabilities that he overcomes to help fight the bad men and save so many.
There are so many characters to love and a few you won't. The father should be shot for his treatment of his son and ex wife. Vivi loves her son and puts him first always, she knows he can be more and pushes him to his limits but is a little over protective. Jed at first I thought he was wonderful than I didn't care to much for him but he turned out to be an amazing man who stood up for what he believed in no matter the cost. His family was just to much (in a good way) I just adored his father which had me laughing.
This is an action packed, intense, thrilling suspense that grips your heart and makes you hold your breath. There are times when you wish you could grab the characters and pull them to safety. Even a few of the bad guys I felt their pain and wish I could have saved them. I felt their loss and wish things could have been different. Which made the story more real to me.
Eric G. Dove was the voice behind the action that Toni gave us. He is just outstanding with his many voices you forget you are listening to a book. He put the humor right in the read I loved to hear his chuckles and his many tones as he bought the book to life for me. He has a very smooth voice with the correct tones and the roughness when it needed. He has a voice I could listen to all day. Toni gives an outstanding plot and story which pulls you in and Eric closes the deal for me.
Toni is one of my favorite authors if you haven't read or listen to any of her books you should. She writes about today issues you can relate to throws in a few punches along the way. Grips your heart and soul as she tells a compelling thrilling suspense. When I see her name I know I have to have the book. I love her audio's she has the best narrators as she shows us again Cold Pursuit. I can't wait to read or listen to the rest of the Cold Justice series.
WOW! This had so much excitement from the very beginning. As good as the first book, A Cold Dark Place, was, this one was better.
I really liked Jed. He was kind and sweet and considerate, except when it came to doing his job and then was deadly. My kind of hero. Vivi was ok. She spent too much time trying to figure out if Jed was “real’ or if he was like her ex: a liar and an abuser. Really, how many times does he have to save your life, and Michael’s, before you KNOW he’s not like the ex. That went on so long it became irritating.
LOL.. I liked Killion but, good grief, he was a total ass when it came to getting on Jed’s nerves. I wanted to knock him out once or twice but mostly I just laughed at him. And I loved it when David showed up and after just a few minutes Jed’s Dad wanted to know if Jed wanted him to kill David for him. David was that big of a jerk.
Overall, I really, really liked this book and I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next, no skimming in this book because you could miss something really important. I loved that the author had you seeing different POV’s, and I liked the other players in the story: Michael, Frazer, Killion. The bad guys: Sargon Al Sahad, Pilah and Elan. The creepy-jerk David, Vivi’s ex.
There was some serious wanting in this book but only one explicit love scene.
As to the narrator: Again Mr. Dove did a wonderful job. Not enough emotion but still a really good job.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Mistakenly, I listened to the 4th book Cold Fear not realizing it was part of a series. I loved it & at the end, the narrator said it was part of a series. I was thrilled & immediately started book 1. Three days later & I've now finished book 2- Cold Pursuit. These books are wonderful. The crime stories are very intriguing & keep me interested and wanting to hear more. There's a great deal of detail to the crimes & the FBI's pursuit of the criminals. In addition, there's just enough story devoted to the development of the complex characters and a bonus of some really hot relationships. I'm on to Book 3 & can't wait.
Definitely worth the time!!
There seriously isn't enough stars on the rating system for this book. It drew me in from the start, and I had a hard time stopping the audio when I had to. What starts out as a terrorist attack becomes something much bigger, with no one knowing who to trust and a game of hide and seek begins.
Vivi is an awesome heroine, who steps up when things are at their worse in every part of the book. She always looked out for everyone she came in contact with, even if it was putting precious minutes she didn't have time to waste.
Jed is a hot alpha, but with being one, there were moments I wanted to smack him upside the head lol. He always had Vivi's best interest at heart, and not once did he treat Michael as if he were an outsider, or unwanted.
Eric did a phenomenal job with narrating this book, and I hope to listen to more of his audios.
Full of action, suspense, and some romance, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great audio book..
COLD PURSUIT is book two in the COLD JUSTICE series. I didn't have the pleasure of reading book one in the series, but book two reads just fine as a standalone.
Author Toni Anderson has written a roller coaster ride of a story with just the right amount of romance added in. The characters are well fleshed out and the plot moves along at a frenetic pace.
Eric G. Dove does a nice job with the narration, although at times I felt that he could have added a little more drama to his voice when he spoke.
If you're looking for a story with lots of drama and suspense you should definitely give COLD PURSUIT a try!
This book is non-stop action/suspense. I really like that the book is written in many of the characters views, not just the main character. you really get to know the characters. can't wait to read more books by Toni Anderson.
I would recommended the book to my friends who enjoy Romantic Suspense. The book starts with a blast and its non stop action from there. The reader needs to pay attention, get to know all the characters and try to find out what is going on.
Vivi. I love books that show relationships between mothers and sons. Vivi was a loving mother who put her son above everything else. Among all the madness following the terrorist attack, she always protected her son.
He portrayed different characters so well. A good narrator is hard to find but Eric is a wonderful one. I usually favor women narrators, but Eric has done a fine job narrating female character and their emotions.
Terrorist are terrorist. Nothing will change that. There is nothing redeemable bout them. Not a well written book or an awesome narrator will make me identify or root for them.
Yes, definitely! This book kept my attention from beginning to end. I didn't want to stop listening. I completed it over two nights.
So much was memorable, but I really loved all the scenes with Michael.
I would have to say Jed, even though ViVi's character was done very well too.
When Michael made his first sound and the reaction to it by ViVi.
I highly recommend listening to this book. The narrator is excellent and he made me feel like I was right there in the story with them.
Cold Pursuit begins with Vivi Vincent and her son Michael going to the mall. What they didn't planned on was to be part of the terrorist's attack. With the help of FBI Special Agent Jed Brennan, they were able to escaped the terrorists. Michael has overheard and seen the terrorists except Michael is a mute and also has been traumatized by the incident.
After having witness Vivi being pushed to the floor before the terrorist attack, Jed has felt the physical attraction except Jed was dealing with his demons after losing Mia. Even after saving Vivi and her son Michael, Jed has planned on seeking Vivi out on a date. Now Vivi and Michael are victims and Jed is too honorable to act on his emotion and the attraction between Vivi and him. Jed has to protect Vivi and Michael from being found by the terrorists. Vivi wanted to protect Michael but the only way to protect Michael was for Michael to identify the terrorists.
The narrator Eric G Dove does an excellent job of narrating the story. I love the different voices for the CIA Agent Patrick Killion and Jed Brennan especially when they are bantering each other. The narrator would be someone I would love to listen to again.
What I love about the story is that it is action-packed with real danger. There is a slick decreptency about the Marshall. I am willing to overlook it since it is possible that it could happens. I love that Jed and Vivi are fighting their attraction to each other. Jed is guilt ridden over Mia's death and Vivi is scarred by her ex-husband. Patrick is just too funny and direct with Jed and Vivi.
I also love how the author has created the plots and conflicts and how the complexity of the terrorist attack is throughout the story. What I didn't expect was when the plan was revealed at the end of the story. It is enough to know there is another book that will finish with the loose end in this book. Readers/Listeners are going to enjoy Cold Pursuit.
I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated or influence in any way for writing this review.
