Critic reviews

"If you're looking for some sexy summer reads, you'll want to check out the new book series, Krinar Chronicles. Author Anna Zaires brings you a kind of 50 Shades of Grey meets Star Trek tale . . ." ( Marie Claire)
"For diehard fans of the paranormal romance genre, author Anna Zaires's risqué new book could be your next guilty pleasure. Zaires's most recent read, Close Liaisons, combines a love story with science fiction in the tale of Mia, an unassuming college student whose life gets suddenly entangled in a dangerous, otherworldly affair." ( Woman's Day)

The book is Awsome! The narration, not so much.

I love the Krinar series. I purchased the first book some time ago and recently picked the series back up. As with the first book, I was hooked. I'm kind of glad I waited to continue the series because I didn't have to wait to find out what happened next. I was not disappointed.

I wasn't thrilled with narration in the first book but at least some distinction between characters...though very little. This narrator was horrible! The males and females sound the same, the lack of expression just destroyed the emotional scenes. At some point I just turned pff the narration and finished reading the story myself. Korum's voice was waaayyy sexier in my mind.

Great Continuation of the Series

Book Two of the Krinar Chronicles does not disappoint! The story picks up right where Close Liaisons ends. Korum and Mia spend some time in the Krinar colony in Costa Rica, which allows the author to continue with her fascinating world building. In Close Liaisons, Mia mentions going to visit her parents; this visit happens in CO, with Korum accompanying her to meet her family. I really liked this part, it was interesting to see her family's reaction to the 'man' in Mia's life. The best part of the book, though, in my opinion, is the character development of Korum. I thought he was such a jerk in book one, and we learn a lot more about him in this installment which explains some of that. There is a villain in this book as well, which adds some elements of danger and suspense. The sexy scenes are steamy and well written as always - definitely not suitable for anyone under 18!

Now, on to the narration. Although this actress is an improvement over the narrator of the first book, this performance still isn't great. She does well with the dialogue for the female characters, hitting all the right notes and inflections, but is terrible with any male dialogue. She is especially deficient when conveying anger or sarcasm in the male voice. It just isn't there in her tone and takes away from the story. And - minor quibble - she pronounces a particular part of the female anatomy in an unusual way. Unusual to me, anyway, and it struck me as funny every time she did it.

Overall, this is a great book, and narration issues aside, I highly recommend it.

Wow, this book kept me on the edge of my seat.

If you could sum up Close Obsession in three words, what would they be?

Deception, and Endless Love

What was one of the most memorable moments of Close Obsession?

When Korum gives her the chance to walk away.

Which scene was your favorite?

We'll there are so many, but I guess the Krinar Fight Scene.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, again when Korum gives her the choice to walk away.

Any additional comments?

Anna Zaire's second installment in the Krinar Series is a great addition to the series. Korum and Mia continue to fall deeper in love and further their trust of one another. But ...in the shadows an evil K plots to destroy their love by taking Mia for his own and end Korum once and for all. This book had me gripping my chair with action, and curling my toes during love scenes. Anna brings passion and suspense to the page. I absolutely loved it!

The reader sucked big time

I love the story and I should have read it myself! To have a narrator butcher the book was very sad indeed. I would like to know what they were thinking when they choose the narrator? I had to give it 3 star's because of the narration. As for the book itself 5 star's I loved the story.

Riviting storyline! Sexy as hell!

See my full review under the first book in the series: Close Liaisons: The Krinar Chronicles, Volume 1. This is my favorite author of all time! Her story telling never disappoints! You cannot stop with just the first book. I am so anticipating her new stuff that's to come out soon! I cannot give this series a high enough recommendation!

Awesome Sci-fi Romance

The narrator was sometimes dull in my opinion, but it was dull a pleasure to hear Book 2 come to life. I hadn't read Book 2 when I started listening, but it was nice to be able to pull it up on my Kindle and have it right where I left off in Audible, and vice versa.

Horrible Narration, Good Story

Wow, after listening to the first book, I was so disappointed in this new narrator. Typically female narrators attempt a deeper sounding male type voice for the males' words but that was not the case here. The entire book was read in the same female voice with no attempt at all to change for males or even for different females. It was unusual for audible and distracting to the story.

Totally Krinal immersed.

What did you love best about Close Obsession?

Although I am not into cliffhanger books, this one of the best exception to the rule. This was part 2, and was grateful book 3 was available as well.

What did you like best about this story?

I was impressed with the alien technology.

Which character – as performed by Kitty Hendrix – was your favorite?

All characters were great and interesting. No duds in this series.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I wanted to listen to the whole series at one sitting, plus more.

Any additional comments?

Bring more Krinar books. Surely there are more words and future episode's to be shared.
