Virtual reality

What made the experience of listening to Claimed the most enjoyable?

The narrator's voice literally has the range of emotions that Baird and Olivia are feeling. It was as though she was giving a moment by moment account. The passion is what had me . I normally never buy audible book but this was just outstanding!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Claimed?

When Baird sees Olivia, the beautiful beast kindred warrior was just mesmerized by the beautiful woman, that he could be worthy of her.

Which scene was your favorite?

When they finally got together, the sex was both breathing and sensitive and the care he took with her. The fact that he could be gentle and when they were both into the sex was mindblowingly decadent.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Baird chose to give himself up to the scourge. I cried and cried, the love that he had was heartbreakingly beautiful.

Any additional comments?

I have to really wonder why I waited so long to read this book/ series that the idea of alien life beyond our round is absolutely enthralling and enticing to be captivated with the unknown. The first book surpasses my expectations of paranormal erotica. The book is so well-written and the character development and the plot is absolutely astounding. The many varieties of kindred has me fascinated. Evangeline Anderson is both innovative and enchanting. At times I found myself crying with the depth of emotion it was palpable. Give the book 5 stars….Absolutely fascinating! Olivia Waterhouse has a huge problem she has been drafted, assuming the role of reluctant bride to that of the kindred . Having just finished college, she has her life to live the experiences..but no more. Can she resist the aching need to be devoured . Period. Where did that come from. Period. She has been secretly communicating with her alien lover not knowing their link is that of bondage mates. She knows him or is it just a forbidden fantasy. Can she realize, her on reality or is she just destined to commit the unimaginable... The denying her lover, the one person meant for her? Can she realized it before the relationship is irrevocably destroyed? Baird is a beast kindred , beast in all sense of the word … Pure muscle… Hundred percent pure! Having been incarcerated by the scourge, the only thing that kept him sane was Olivia. Only thing in his mind is too find, claim and mate with her ! He literally wants to devour her… To consume her mind, body and soul. He can't fathom why she is so angry(her life has been stolen). Can he change her mind? Can they find what is staring them right in the face ? Their love… Unbeknownst to them and unspeakable evil is surrounding them!? Is it too late for Barid and Olivia? Barid is concupiscent , but can he show Olivia she is too? This is a full novel and it's so action-packed… Drama, romance and the sex is voracious and titillating. It's a must read for anyone looking for a exciting sci fi paranormal erotica. Evangeline, this first book is fantastic!

* Please note the review extends to the audible version as well as the written. The narration was sensational gave the book a whole new dynamic. The voice was clear ...mesmerizing and enthralling the book itself was a fantastic read, but the audio just made the book A thousand times better . Would recommend this and the entire series if you enjoy audiobooks this science fiction erotica masterpiece is for you .

Not The Worst Story I've Listen To.....

I love looking for new series to read and came across this book on Amazon for $0.00 and was able to purchase the audio version for $1.99. Needless to say, I was not disappointed in my $1.99 purchase.

The fist book in the series has a decent plot, good character development, and I though the author did a good job of creating the "Kindred" warriors and world.

The story kept my attention from the very beginning and held it all the way until the end. The romance was more of an erotica feel and some parts did come across as cheesy. It's a good thing I do not get offended easily from hearing the P**** word a lot :-)!

I've already listened to the second book in this series, and think it was much better story, plot, and characters. (Waiting to see if book three will be available for whispersync.)

* Evangeline has another series called "Born of Darkness" and the first book in that series called "Crimson Debt", was really good.

Super Cheese

What disappointed you about Claimed?

Look, I am not opposed to sex scenes but this was painful. A thesaurus would benefit this author. I felt like this book was written by scribing a session of an adult with limited vocabulary playing with Barbies .

Would you ever listen to anything by Evangeline Anderson again?

I am horrible with names, so in a year I may be duped into another one. It will not be intentional.

Would you be willing to try another one of Anne Johnstonbrown’s performances?

Sure she was fine given the material.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Claimed?

I am not sure I could not even get to the end. The plot has potential. But whoever edited this book should have definately told the author to repeat any word, much less shock value words, 8-10 times in a paragragh is not going to win an audience.

Any additional comments?

I know I am a bit harsh but these books are expensive. This was so disappointing. I get an author trying to do erotica. But there are much better works out there. Save your credit. If you like this kind of plot try Grim by M.K. Eidem or Abducting Abby or Hunter's Claim by S.E. Smith (Although those are a good bit cheesy as well at least they have more of a variety of how to describe female genitalia.)

A HOT ALIEN ABDUCTION, SEDUCTION & SURRENDER

Wow, what a great new well-written and described Sci-Fi world.... one where (if you're picked to be their Bride) you're idolized, pampered and petted by huge, hunky, handsome Kindred Warriors who only want to make you happy and have lots and lots and lots of sex with you. There are three types - Beast Kindred who have an extra 'endowment' guaranteed to blow your mind - Blood Kindred who have fangs and Twin Kindred who come in pairs (literally). Baird, who's a Beast Warrior, chose Olivia but she didn't go willingly and isn't happy about leaving everything behind so Baird has one month to change her mind.... through sexual foreplay broken down into week by week degrees of intimacy until (hopefully) the 'bonding'.

You get sucked into this fascinating fantasy world and can see the dilemma they each face and feel bad for them both because sacrifices must eventually be made. It's touching, romantic and also funny at times, has a few interesting secondary characters and there's an evil alien species called the Scrouge who happily cause pain and suffering and it seems like they will continue to play a part in the ongoing storyline. However, the main focus is on the 'claiming' as Baird tries everything in his sexual arsenal to win over Olivia..... and what an arsenal he's got - visual, verbal, sensory, mental and very very physical.

Dual POV's and the narrator nicely brought each character to life, emphasized feelings and delivered a very enjoyable Audiobook.

Worth a credit? Right from chapter one I was hooked and couldn't wait to hear just how these two loveable characters would finally work things out. I'm looking forward to all the other books in this very hot and very creditworthy series.

The Book Had Promise But Fell Flat!

The book had areas of too much whining not enough doing. The performance is ok for the girl but the guy he sounded like a demon not like some big hunky warrior.
Based on all the reviews here, I feel like I'm reading a different book. The book had real promise but fell flat. The heroine drives me crazy with all the angst of "I want him but I don't want him" using the flimsiest of excuses. Yes, I do understand it's hard to leave behind family and what you know, but this excuse was recycled over and over again. If you're an adult, and the changes are something that you want, then I don't understand the huge resistant on the heroine's part. If you like your heroine a bit whiny ("oh why me why me?"), a bit of an idiot (stumbling around an alien ship and getting herself in trouble), and a bit self-centered, then this is the book for you.

Anne Johnstonbrown was just Ok with the delivery of the story her voice for Baird was terrible but Silvin was good.

Great listen!!!

What did you love best about Claimed?

I have read the e-book Claimed by Evangeline Anderson a couple of times and have absolutely loved it each time. Her books are filled with captivating characters while revolving around an intricate new world which evolves with each book. This was my first time listening to an Audible, so it made for an interesting experience and took a book I already love to a new level. It helped bring the characters out of the book and make the whole experience feel real.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Claimed?

One of the most memorable moments of Claimed for me has always been when Olivia finally realizes that she loves Baird, but will her love come too late? Listen to the book to find out.

What about Anne Johnstonbrown’s performance did you like?

This was my first audible book that I listened to all the way through. The last book I listened to I did not enjoy it due to the narrator, so I wasn't sure if this one would end the same way. It took me a little bit to get used to all the voices for the characters and get over the voices I had given them in my own imagination. Once I did this, I found that I really enjoyed listening to her. For being only one woman, she did such a good job.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Will I be claimed by my Kindred?

Any additional comments?

Whether you love reading the Kindred books, or whether you are new to the Kindred world, this book is worth a listen and will bring the world that only Evangeline Anderson can create to life.

Claimed! A voyeurs delight!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definetely recommend this book! 12 hrs, not just a peek at a sexy Alien erotic adventure but a full on complete story love story! This can be a stand alone book or just the beginning to a world of Kindred love, in E. Anderson's 13 books of the Kindred, you'll crave more!!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Baird the lead male was my favorite. Baird has Olivia on a pedestal and she is a normal Earth women, but he craves everything about her and would see to every need. Be it food, sensually or rescuing her. Isn't it about time someone rescues a woman?...I'm ready and Baird fills the bill! Another character I truly love and look forward to many adventures with is Kat, a full figured confidente and sexy full figured friend of Olivia the leading lady's friend!

What about Anne Johnstonbrown’s performance did you like?

Anne did a fantastic job! I have no experience with Audio books but if her performance is what I have to look forward to then it won't be my last Audiobook. Anne did a great job with her male characters voice inflection you could tell who was male and female, but I do wish a few male voices where used-the sexy talk would really ramp up and believe me this is a lusty Alien adventure in every form of the story, audio or reading. It was so nice not to have the Kindle burning my eyes from not having to hold the Kindle close for so long, because with this book you can't put it down, its a wonderful love and adventure!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Luckiest Girl Off the Planet!!

Any additional comments?

Who says Earth girls are easy has never read or listened to Claimed! Baird goes above and beyond any girl's dreams, flavors and charms to win his Olivia's heart and trust. Any woman would be lucky to have a Kindred Claim her!!!!

good series, not so good narration

I eagerly await every installment of the Brides of the Kindred on kindle, so when I heard that it was going to be on audible I thought I'd give it a try. I wish they had picked a better narrator. For some reason she does this whiney voice for Olivia the main female character. It kinda ruined it for me. I got through it but it was disappointing. She's not the worst but she's not that good either. So, unless you have to listen to the book, get it on kindle instead. Actually, you can't go wrong with Evangeline Anderson. Her books are sexy, funny, well edited (Thank the Goddess), and never disappoint.

A popcorn series. Read 'em on Kindle.

First of all, that would be a BIG thumbs down on the idiotic narration of this $17.95 book.

Seriously? I mean, SERIOUSLY???

I chugged through some of this series when I found them on Amazon last summer. It was just after I read Anna Zaires' Krinar series, which I kinda loved. (For a quick intro to that series, pick up Club X by Zaires on Kindle -- Hot!) So I was looking for another book like that one.

The Kindred books are OK -- kinda hot, with sexy heroes and very creepy villains. But the female characters are, on the whole, cliches. They all resist being mated to the super hot, gorgeous, and very loving alien warriors. Ok, they all have bizarre genitalia or some other freaky kink, but they're really hot. Their civilization is dying out and they came to earth looking for fertile women, yada yada, but they secretly want their true mates, and hope they'll find them on Earth, since some of them have been having "The Dreams" about human women. Yeah, that old saw. Still, it mostly works here because the writing is so damn good.

The women are found, ravished, love is fallen into, and they are almost immediately pregnant. It feels rushed, but since that's what the alien men are trying to accomplish -- their civilzation is dying out after all, I get it.

Two sisters and their friend start the process, and each gets their hot alien in each of the first three books. Two or three end up knocked up by book 4, and over that 4 book arch, there are some interesting plots on how they find their man, overcome their fear of the aliens and get a bun in the oven -- meanwhile hiding out from the menacing BIG BAD. And he is. Big and Bad. I was impressed by Anderson's ability to write truly evil villains! I was also impressed with how she continued each character's story on into the series. It's a lot to juggle and Anderson does it impressively. There is a good author in here somewhere, and her ideas worked for me.

What I hated was how stupid the women were. They talk like the spunky women in black and white movies from the 40's and 50's, but instead of sounding witty, they come across as crass. Once knocked up, they have bizarre pregnancy cravings, including the ol' pickles and ice cream meme, along with some disgusting alien foods thrown in. I'm not kidding, it goes on and on, in book after book. (Now that I think of it, this may have started my "pregnant heroine" PTSD. Huh.)

I also hated their ad nauseam, cutsey girl-time chats. We get it, they're WOMEN, and they love to shoot the shit, and gross each other out, and control each other's love lives. Couldn't they have been written to be somewhat intelligent? Instead, at least one of them is written as a ball-busting, controlling bitch -- an actual caricature of a strong woman, as described by a certain kind of man. Why? It's so not sexy.

Why would Anderson turn her own female creations into bad cliches? I don't get it.

As the series continues, and we move away from the the first three, the subsequent relationships become more and more bizarre and the men become more and more damaged. There is a Goddess with interesting power, and a new religious leader and his human wife (two of the early characters) take over the Goddess' realm -- it all gets a bit muddied and weird. I'll probably drag the rest out at the beach, but this is not great literature, or even a must buy for me. Like I said, I bought these when I was in a mood.

I started on book 6, Pursued, last fall -- and despite picking it up a few times over the last six months, I'm still only 30% in. I just can't make myself read this one, so I might skim over it when I'm bored and see where book 7 goes. Or, I might find a much better book instead.

So far, there are 14 in the series. The first one, Claimed, is free on Amazon as a kindle book, so start there. The idea of spending more than $4 on one of these is ludicrous, so it's okey-dokey with me that the narrator sux so bad. They need to come WAY down in price, with MUCH a better narrator before I'd consider buying another one.

great story

I am going to first start by saying that I enjoyed the story in this book. The author creates a good amount of angst, a loyal alpha man who dotes on the love of his life, despite her pushing him away. Loved it.
However, the narrator threw me for a loop. While the intimate scenes are going on she does a great job however the rest of her narration borders on clinical. She enunciates so hard that it sounds choppy and throws the listener off. Overall book is good and I am rushing to number two.
