Publisher's summary

Still coming to terms with their unexpected partnership, Augustine and Harlow have a tentative truce. Although with Harlow slowly working to accept being fae, Augustine still learning how to be Guardian, and feelings growing on both sides, they do not have an easy road ahead.

But when a young girl is stolen from the Mardi Gras Exemplar Ball - the biggest fae event of the year - Harlow and Augustine must put all their issues aside to bring her home alive. Harlow's father, Branzino, is of course their number one suspect, but evil lurks in every corner of the city and time is running out. Their only choices: Either find a way to rescue the girl, or Augustine must die.

Enjoyable

Any additional comments?

It took an hour or so before I could get into this book. I almost didn’t continue listening to it because it was so boring. But as the story really got going I enjoyed it. I will definitely continue with this series. I enjoyed the characters and the twists and turns the story took throughout.

There has to be a trilogy

Can't wait for the movie. Great story. Very entertaining. I will listen to it again and again. The narration made me feel as if I knew the characters.
I'm waiting to find out what happens next.

Names?

The only reason this did not get 5 stars across the board is the change in pronunciation. One of the main characters went from Lolly to Lally and when using characters from another series a name went from Mal to Mol. The second I can overlook since it is a new narrator from the other series, but not the first one.

I love the story and I love the narrators voice. Just a little disappointed.

not super crazy about this one

I dont really like how this one ends and I'm not crazy about how the narrator pronounces some of the words or how the name of lollie changes.

Way better than expected.

Honestly, I've been on the edge of my chair to roll my eyes at the lack of creativity vut have been pleasantly surprised and the uniqueness of the plat and characters. I definitely suggest this book to fantasy lovers and the romance isn't overbearing. I will be listening to the next book.

OMG!

Any additional comments?

This book has it all Fay, vampire, smoke singer and more. The storyline is not the same tired story. Don't miss out!

In love with Augustine!

This is so refreshing! The characters are great and I really wish the 3rd one was on audible because I clean by myself for work and go though a few books a week. These are some of my favorites now! I just don't have much time to hold the book and read it while trying to work lol. Hopefully soon! This book was even better than the first one! I need the next one now because the way it ends just leaves me questioning everything!!!

Kristen Painter has done it yet again!

I admit, at first it took me a while to get use to the narrator and I noticed that he changed the pronounciation of one of the characters in this second book. However, those things that had bothered me became insignificant as the story went on. I like the suspense that was built-up and the new problem that arises at the end. So now I have to actually buy the book in order to finish the series (Yes, there is no audiobook for the the last book. Trust me I searched). I think the hard copy will be worth the conclusion.
