Somebody is out to destroy Elle Simpson and everything she's worked hard to build. As the CEO of a corporate conglomerate, Elle is used to fighting off challengers. However this new threat comes at a time when she finally lets her guard down to meet Prince Charming. And it's unlike anything she's been up against before.
Drake Charles' work on mobile technology has made him a wealthy, powerful man. But he quickly sheds the fame and publicity for a more private life, which earns him the label of a man of mystery. Drake adds to that mystery every year when he hosts a masquerade ball for charity. It's also his best chance to find the one thing he really wants: true love.
Having met behind masks of anonymity, Elle and Drake enjoy a whirlwind night of romance that leaves them both wanting more. But Elle must question everything and everyone as she battles to save her life and career. Can Elle trust Drake to help get her life back, or will she lose everything?

Say something about yourself!
Better than some, not as good as others.
The story start as Cinderella then moves into a business takeover and identity theft. A more plausible romance or getting immediately into the intrigue with the romance as background would have made more sense.
Yes. I like Amy McFadden except when she does a Booklyn accent.
No. It didn't grab me initially.
I enjoy silly and fun stories all the time, but this was just too silly. Romances are full of hard to believe events, so I'm ready to accept them, but they were telling each other they loved each other after only spending a few hours together. I don't know, I just found myself rolling my eyes throughout the entire book.
I love the Blue grass series so I was excited to see a new series by Kathleen Brooks. As I listened to this I thought it must be one of the first books shed written since the quality was so poor.
I enjoyed the simplicity of Kathleen Brooks Bluegrass series. She created engaging characters. She continues with Women of Power. But I was hoping for a little more. The female lead falls oh so fast and the romance is rushed. But I am hoping that book 2 is better. I enjoy the premise of woman taking the lead.
I am not a fan of how Amy McFadden narrates this story. She is just okay and sometimes the female voices a whiny. Steamy not so much.
awesome family love
I love all of Kathleen's books so I would say all of them
it made me hold my breath a few times even though I had read the book
That woman finally at equal at home and in the workplace.
That families do stay together, their not all fighting and jealous of each other like so many really are.
Hard to say, they were all great, but I guess her husband she got the Cinderella dream instead of shoe it was cell phone.
I just want to see my kids married and grand children too.
It was a very inspiring story for women, and it was a comedy to
Love, love, loved this book. The story was simply fabulous, as were the characters. Drake and Elle were such a dynamic couple. Not once were either of them wishy-washy or weak or wimpy. One of the best power couples I’ve ever read about. And, wow, they met at a masquerade party and fell in love immediately. It was just awesome.
Loved her family: Reid, Bree, Allegra, and Mom. Absolutely loved Shirley, that woman was sure lovable and crazy. Loved Jessica (great secretary) and Mary (after a while.)
I loved how she took over Titan. That was sooo funny. Those asinine old men.
And, finally, the bad guys found out that weren’t much when they went up against Drake and Elle. They got their butts kicked, that’s for sure.
As for the narrator. Amy McFadden is always great. Her men all sound pretty much the same but at least they sound like men, sexy men, too. And she reads with emotion: whispering, crying, laughing, whatever is called for, she does. Love her.
I was expecting this series to be similar to the bluegrass series, it was not. The story was just too far-fetched and not believable. The narrator did not help the book either was very disappointed with the narrator as well.
"Love Kathleen Brooks books"
OMG I love Kathleen Brooks books and I had high hopes for this one. She didn't let me down, this was superb.
This books is about a leading lady not a lead man. Most books are about leading men. This book was different from the start which just had it better in my book!!!
Elle Simpson comes from a poor family. Her family has worked her to get where they are today. Simpson Global is a force to be reckon with in the business world. But something is missing from her world!! Love!!
Drake Charles hides from the media and public in general. It is all to much for him and his family. He made is his money in the communication technology sector. Every year he holds a masquerade ball for the Drake Charles Foundation which is linked with the local Children's Hospital.
Masquerade balls are funny because nobody knows who you are. Surely private life should be private.
Can Elle let her hair down for one night? Can Drake have fun at the ball whilst Phillip does all the work?
Read the book to see. I would recommend this book and the rest of Kathleen Brooks books.
