"Scottish romance at its finest, with characters to cheer for, a lush love story, and rousing adventure. I was captivated from the very first page. When it comes to exciting Highlander romance, Julianne MacLean delivers." (Laura Lee Guhrke, author of the Abandoned at the Altar series)

Meh.

Barely an okay story, I didn't get very involved in the story. I was not a fan of the heroine, if she wasn't such a stick in the mud and so naïve (naïve stupid not cute way) I would have enjoyed this story more. I thought the Duncan was a better character but there was no connection between the two and I just didn't care what happened to either of them. The big surprise halfway through the book did not fit the storyline, it felt like it was done for convenience over plot. I will not be continuing on with the trilogy, especially since I don't like the hero for the next book. Narrator does a good job.

Ok, a bit cheesy and predictable!

Ok, this definitely had some eye rolling moments and it was totally predictable but, it was also somewhat entertaining. I wouldn’t listen to it again or spend a credit for it but it was a decent romance package listen!

GO ON... USE THAT CREDIT... =]

My first Julianne MacLean listen. Not my first Antony Ferguson, of course. I loved the narrator. I think Antony does better than most with the female parts.
The story I loved. It was meaty and involved. Better than the majority of romance stories. After awhile some tend to go down the same path. I loved that there was so much texture to this one. Amelia makes Duncan re-think what he feels he's always known. He isn't at all the way he always believed. I know that was a big circle but I hate to be a spoiler.
I enjoyed this as much as I have any. I do hope the series continues to be as riveting as this one.
Go on... use that credit!!

Good Read

I’d give this a 3.5. Good and easy read with a little twist. Both the hero and heroine were great characters.

I found this to be a ho hum Outlander wannabe.

I can't say I'm impressed with this story. This story lacks time travel but other than that....there are way too many similarities to Outlander. I also find this love story pretty mundane and the heroine boring. The performance was just okay too. I don't understand why Amelia sounded American at times when she is supposed to be British.

Don’t do it!!!

Worst narration I have ever listened to. Woman sounded like a high pitched goat! Horrible. Might have salvaged it with different narration.

Disappointing

This book wasn???t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

The female character was pathetic with unrealistic expectations and demands for her love to be only a gentleman and disregard the warrior side of his persona. It was a bit of an irritating read with weak character development and an unbelievable attraction between the characters. This book is for anyone that wants to read about a man who will change for a woman he met one week prior, rather than being a strong character that is honorable and the smart sassy female recognizes his worth and loves him.

Has Captured by the Highlander turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, but I won't be purchasing another book by this author.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Narration was good.

What character would you cut from Captured by the Highlander?

The Heroine, and replace her with a stronger and smarter character that will not only give her love when her conditions are met. The hero also needs to be reworked.

Any additional comments?

If you enjoyed books by Elizabeth Lowell, Monica McCarty, Julie Garwood, or Judith McNaught then you probably won't like this book. As I enjoyed many books by those authors and their characters.

Wishing the narrators would read the book first!

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Could have enjoyed it A LOT more if the narrator had read the story first. It feels like he is hired because he has a wonderful brouge but can't be bothered to care about cadence or female voices.

Has Captured by the Highlander turned you off from other books in this genre?

I have read a gazillion books in this genre and while I will continue to read a gazillion more in every genre, I will probaby streer away from this narrator unless it's way on sale and I'm scraping rock bottom.

What does Antony Ferguson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A nice Scottish brouge but NOTHING else. I could listen to him read the Scottish phone book all day, but not a romance book. It just feels like they are not worth his time or best effort. For what we pay for them we deserve their best effort.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Nothing really. The narrartor gave the heroine a voice that made me want to slap her silly.

Any additional comments?

I know these 8-10hr books are a romance condensed into an incredibly short time period but for the heroine to fall in love with her captor within 3 days strikes me as Stockholm Syndrome. And I realize I am to suspend a certain amount of disbelief.

Disappointment

Story could have been great but the female character's lack of understanding and twisted moral ruined it. Amelia's constant hypocrisy as the story progressed made it hard to finish. I really wanted to enjoy it due to the story line was pretty good, strong male character but female very naive and immature.

The narration was great. Debating if I can commit more time to the second book. Very torn....
