Good story

Would you listen to Captured by the Highlander again? Why?

Not sure. I liked the book, but I have read and heard better.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The alter ego super hero type characters and the betrayal.

What about Antony Ferguson’s performance did you like?

He does a good job of changing characters and is good at keeping the story from being boring and mono-tone.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

At first, yes, but then I got really annoyed by Amelia's character.

Any additional comments?

The story was overall good and entertaining, but Amelia was starting to really annoy me. At one point, I thought she was an idiot and too shallow of a character. It was almost as if she was "too good" for Duncan. The only reason I want to listen to book #2 is to find out more about what happened to Angus. I was intrigued by Angus and cant wait for what happens next.

Nice start

Would you listen to Captured by the Highlander again? Why?

Yes because I'm so in love with Duncan!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Captured by the Highlander?

The ending.

What about Antony Ferguson’s performance did you like?

His voice! Of course.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not really...

Any additional comments?

This is a great start to the trilogy. I was instantly drawn to Duncan the moment he entered the story, which was at the beginning! I like the chemistry between the hero and the heroine. The way Anthony does Duncan's voice is to die for!

Don't get captured.

Anthony Ferguson does his best with this contrived, predictable story but MacLean gives him very little tension or excitement to build up. The characters were boring and two-dimensional and I just didn't care about them. It wasn't even fun to listen to!

Loved this Book

If you could sum up Captured by the Highlander in three words, what would they be?

Intrigue, Revenge, Redemption

What was one of the most memorable moments of Captured by the Highlander?

The Moment when Duncan meets Face to Face with his sworn enemy!

Which scene was your favorite?

I love the scene when Duncan takes Ameila and tries to explain his decision to his men.Duncan: "she says it's a love match.... Angus: What ! Has she #@# met him?.Just struck me funny.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I wanted to smack Ameila ( heroine) upside her head at times..she is so self righteous and lectures Duncan about being a vicious killer because he wants to kill her English fiancée captain, who raped and killed Duncan's fiancée Muira. She can't seem to understand why Duncan and Muira's brother Angus would want to do this, even after she herself is almost raped by English soldiers.... Seriously he should have given her back to the English.

Any additional comments?

Well worth the credit, and for the record I LOVED Antony Ferguson's narration!!

So Predictable!!

Any additional comments?

This book is so predictable, had only one story line, and had to force myself to finish it.

4.5 stars! Great Story, though a little angsty

This series is as good if not better than Monica McCarty's trilogies.
Full of romance, adventure, peril and suspense, I really was impressed with MacLean's writing.
I only wish there had been more scenes to enjoy the couple in love.

Perfect narration by Antony Ferguson!

Overall Odd Experience

Like some other readers have already mentioned, the story starts off phenomenal... the first half of the book sets up the romance beautifully. Then, in the second half, the narrative loses its way... almost like it never went past the draft phase. It becomes odd. I had a hard time finishing it, because I felt like I was wasting my time. That said, the Highlander stories of Karen Marie Moning and Paula Quinn were read before this one so expectations may have been established. Because it did get some good reviews, I wanted to give MacLean a whirl as I've come to love the fantastical Highlander stories.

And, Ferguson's narration is just OK. Nothing special. His interpretation of the characters is inconsistent... sometimes they have a brogue or not, English accents or not, etc. Also, he doesn't narrate with any real depth of character... seems like he was more or less robotic. What is notable is that his delivery was a bit better in the first half of the book which lends one to wonder if Ferguson had issues in the quality/direction of the story too.

No Dissappointment Here... What a listen!

If you could sum up Captured by the Highlander in three words, what would they be?

Action, tantalizing and romantic.

Have you listened to any of Antony Ferguson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, and Anthony is always exceptional. I love his narrations. If you are listening to a Highlander book, in my opinion, it should always be narrated by Anthony.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I love the way Duncan seductively teased Amelia.

Any additional comments?

I love that the story started off with action and it just got better. Without giving the story away, this is so good.

Meh.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

There was some highlights in terms of the story line but it was a bit of a struggle to get to the end. All in all I don't feel it was a waste of time.

What aspect of Antony Ferguson’s performance would you have changed?

I admit I don't particularly care for male narrators doing female voices. I just struggle with trying to not laugh during the passionate parts. Maybe I am juvenile - but if you are similar to me, you may not care for that aspect
