Publisher's Summary

Searing action and passion ignite the latest KGI novel from the New York Times best-selling author of Darkest Before Dawn.

The Kelly Group International (KGI): A super-elite, top secret family run business.

Qualifications: High intelligence, rock-hard body, military background.

Mission: Hostage/kidnap victim recovery. Intelligence gathering.

Handling jobs the US government can't.

As the last unattached member of the Kelly clan, Joe is more than ready to risk life and limb on any mission he's assigned to, but when it comes to love, he'll keep his distance. He's content to watch his brothers become thoroughly domesticated.

Zoe's had nothing but heartbreak in her life, and she's determined to start over with a completely new identity thanks to her college friend Rusty Kelly. But it's the gorgeous smile and tender words of Joe Kelly that begin to weaken her resolve to never risk her heart again. And Joe will have to put everything on the line to save Zoe when secrets of her past resurface - and threaten to tear them apart.

    "Shaking my Head"

The last 4 books in this series seem more like another series by MB, and not KGI. The insta love and focus on relationship more than action is so UTTERLY disappointing. And I understand the need for vulnerability in the female characters, but geez!! Dail it back a little, will you? If I wanted that level of weakness I would have read the Enforcers series. And the repetition!!! Just wow......The last book in this series that had a good balance of relationship to action was Cole and PJ's story. I felt that this storyline was too watered down. For Joe to get so upset over Zoe's emotional treatment just felt too silly. I am holding out for Rusty and Sean's story only because I have been waiting for YEARS to read it. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a hard hitting, action packed story with a little love in between. MB has spent years cultivating this character--please do her justice!!

    "The lazy lame insta-love"

This series started off so well with Rachel and Ethan, but has become the laziest type of insta-love writing. There is zero believability in the "love" relationship. Instead of wasting time talking to themselves or other characters over and over about this unexplainable unfounded "connection" made in a day, maybe spend that time on rich dialogue between the H and H or actions that actually SHOW redeemable qualities specifically in Zoe! The only reason to read this book is for Rusty and Sean! Their book better be the next book because I can't endure another one like this!

    Awful narrator
    Whinny, stupid, childish female

Longest book getting nowhere with every turn of the page. Hours worth of internal dialogue.
    Cliche, lame conversations
    Such a disappointment

"Very Disappointed. This couldn't be Maya Banks writing."

This book was very redundant. No character development. He see's her and bam he's in love. The heroine Zoe whined the whole book. These KGI women have all been through tough times but they were no whiny about it. This was totally not KGI style. I feel like Maya Banks didn't write this it's almost like a stranger wrote it. Joe was totally short changed. The action finally picks up after chapter 20. The only good part of this story is knowing Rusty and Sean story is coming soon. I sincere hope Maya Banks or her ghost writer review the first few books and take us back to the kick butt action KGI fans are used to. The narrator wasn't great but I could deal with that if the story wasn't so boring. I had to skip through some chapters and I never do that I just couldn't listen to the self deprecating that was going on. Hopefully the book is better. Happy Reading.

    "Those Kelly women"

I love KGI, and I have read every book in the series. Thus, I enjoyed this one too, however I find it odd that every Kelly wife was a victim, that none of them have their own career outside of their home life, besides Rachel. None of the women have any family, outside of the Kelly's. and, as a sociology major, their environment, meaning the isolation, is too much in correlation to the way man who commit domestic violence isolate their women, as well as choose women who have little to no family. Nevertheless, if one overlooks the slap to the female sensibilities, it is a rather great read.

    "Emotional abused? read carefully!"
If you could sum up Brighter Than the Sun in three words, what would they be?

Wonderful Story! The story was good

What did you like best about this story?

The story, the love, shown by Joe

What didn’t you like about Tad Branson’s performance?

Nothing good. My favorite person is Steele. I do not like this voice doing Steele. I really did not care for the narrator. Now the worse I have heard but not very good to me. It is prob my own thoughts.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Having been an abused child, it was very hard to read. They don't mention all the therapy you need after living a life like this. My abuse was not as bad as this but it was bad.

    Any additional comments?

Loved the story but did not like the narrator's voice.

    "Changes"

I liked the story, its consistent with all the KGI series: I preferred the first narrator. Tad voice was very slow and not like the other narrator. It would be great if the females voice can be narrated to speak. I love the series and the action, its great, but don't change the narrator.

    "Disappointing..."
Would you try another book from Maya Banks and/or Tad Branson?

If this had been the first book I read by Maya Banks it would be the last. So not like her!

What was most disappointing about Maya Banks’s story?

The story was so week I almost missed it.

Would you be willing to try another one of Tad Branson’s performances?

    He was OK.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Brighter Than the Sun?

All of Joe and Zoë talking to their self in side of their heads and not out loud. Which was 50% of the book. They both were pathetic.

    Any additional comments?

The first KGI books are wonderful, good storyline and strong characters. I wish is had stopped with PJ and Cole's story. The books after that were week. This was the weakest one yet. I don't hold out much hope for the next ones. I put the blame the publishers, this book should have been sent back for a redo. Very disappointing read.

"Not up to KGI standards. for action."

This was disappointing. I always expect plenty of action in KGI but not this time. It was a sweet love srory with lots of conversation but no real build up. No time for the connection to develop and no back story characters for Zoe. It just felt like it fell short.
