Command Assassin Nykyrian Quikiades once turned his back on the League - and has been hunted by them ever since. Though many have tried, none can kill him or stop him from completing his current mission: to protect Kiara Zamir, a woman whose father's political alliance has made her a target.
As her world becomes even deadlier, Kiara must entrust her life to the same kind of beast who once killed her mother and left her for dead. Old enemies and new threaten them both, and the only way they can survive is to overcome their suspicions and learn to trust in the very ones who threaten them the most: each other.

"Kenyon's writing is brisk, ironic and relentless imaginative." (Boston Globe)
It was very good. Hopefully Born of Fire coming out next month will be available in audio
First of all, for the ladies:
You will fall in love with this exciting book which intertwines deep loving passion with heart stopping action. In a classical sense its a story about a princess that wants to live her life the way she wants and of the tragic hero who thinks he's just in it for money while in truth a strong sense of honor drives his every deed. Their unlikely encounter spawns a passionate love that drives the undercurrent of their interaction between each other, yet the differences of their upbringing makes them question about each others feelings. With added danger of assassins and some politics this book should...nay will keep you on the edge of your seat till the last page. A must buy!
Now for the guys:
STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOOK! READ IT AT YOUR OWN RISK! The characters are as 2d as they can possibly get and mostly reminds me of these $5 books where Fabio is holding some blond chick that is about to orgasm just from looking at him (just add space ships in the background). Albeit some of the action can be entertaining, the cheesy love and "struggle" of the characters is not just jokingly bad, its extremely cringe worthy and just plain awkward. Don't get suckered in by all the 5 stars, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
The only people I can imagine enjoying this book would be horny teenage girls who haven't read enough Harlequin romances yet to be bored by the predictable plot and uninteresting characters.
The Girl With All The Gifts
The performance was okay, given the drivel the poor girl had to work with.
All of them.
I have never written a book review before, but I feel strongly enough about this book to want to warn others about it.
Don’t buy it. Don’t bother. Just re-read Twilight and imagine various alien races instead of vampires and werewolves. Throw in a few complete gaps in plot logic and a whiny, boring heroine that makes Bella look smart and fascinating and you’ve got this piece of absolute drivel.
There is nothing here but a hackneyed, poorly-written smutty romance with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I got to within an hour of the end and quit, because I couldn’t believe I had wasted so many hours of my life already, waiting for something to show me why this book has such great reviews. The narrator does a pretty good job, but the book itself is garbage.
This is the worst book I have tried to listen to in a long time.
Wow, I should have read the review from Denis!
This really was not a science fiction action book as much as it was a romance novel. The futuristic aspects with ships and blasters were really just afterthoughts.
How many times can you read about one character's POV on the attraction to another character? Seriously, every other thought was on their primal attraction.
I finally gave up 1/2 way through the book.
I love losing myself in books of any kind
This seemed ALOT like Dark Hunter series. Don't get me wrong I love Sherrilyn Kenyon, but this story was so familiar with Acheron that is was scary... Well all but the Heroine, whom was lovable in Ash's tale.
This book's female heroine was weak, whinny and undeserving. I never warmed up to her or felt she was deserving of such a strong male character like that of Nykyrian. She nev really grows up and repeatedly makes the same naive mistake when it comes to blaming the man she loves as being uncaring despite know first hand about his horrific past. Another reviewer called her TSTL ( too stupid to live) and I would agree.
I would really like to try the next book in the storyline however I just think they're going to align way too much with another series by this author.
loved the story but it need different voices for the male characters, the lady that does it doesnt show how the true hybrid voice was supposed to be
Norwegian in a English world!
I am so EXTREME happy, not only do i know Sherrilyn Kenyon can tell stories, but Kelly Fish will not return. She is just not as good as the story needs! She is not BAD, but she is sometimes annoying, and if the rest of "The League" books was with her i would not be ass happy! Kelly Fish still does not destroy this book, for that is Sherrilyn Kenyon to good. I am happy to continue my journey in to Sherrilyn Kenyon books! Without Kelly Fish!
Books, books, books, the only thing better than reading books is listening to them!
women but Jelly Fish did excellent job
bringing the characters to life, both male and female!
I truly enjoyed listening to this book. I had bought this book and a few more in this series, I loved this series of novels so much I haves read each story many times since. To hear a voice put to the characters I have come to love so much was truly rewarding. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. You will not be disappointed in any way. This story ( and its successors) are everything you could love about a book. Your money will not be wasted on this one.
