Command Assassin Nykyrian Quikiades once turned his back on the League - and has been hunted by them ever since. Though many have tried, none can kill him or stop him from completing his current mission: to protect Kiara Zamir, a woman whose father's political alliance has made her a target.
As her world becomes even deadlier, Kiara must entrust her life to the same kind of beast who once killed her mother and left her for dead. Old enemies and new threaten them both, and the only way they can survive is to overcome their suspicions and learn to trust in the very ones who threaten them the most: each other.

"Kenyon's writing is brisk, ironic and relentless imaginative." (Boston Globe)
If you are familiar with Sherrilyn's Dark Hunter series, this story is a copy of Zryricks, I don't know what it is about abuse and the worst type of degradation that appeals to this author but she makes it works and you can't help falling in love with the hero. But in the end they find love and happiness in spite of the abuse they received. You will not be disappointed
It was very good. Hopefully Born of Fire coming out next month will be available in audio
Wow, I should have read the review from Denis!
This really was not a science fiction action book as much as it was a romance novel. The futuristic aspects with ships and blasters were really just afterthoughts.
How many times can you read about one character's POV on the attraction to another character? Seriously, every other thought was on their primal attraction.
I finally gave up 1/2 way through the book.
Really struggled to finish this book because the characters didn't live up to their supposed reputations. The heroine was supposed to be tough but ended up being one dimensional and weak. The hero was supposed to be tough and elite but again he was a wimp. Don't waste your time with this book.
It took a while for me to get into this story but once I did, it was awesome. I have always been a huge fan of Sherrily Kenyon's book especially the Dark Hunter series. This is different but wonderful. I will be reading the next book in the series. very well read by Kelly Fish.
I've read the book a good five times now, and I like doing this after reading the book. Once you've read the book a couple times it's not a big deal if you miss a couple words here and there if you get distracted. And in my head, it's very difficult to hear these different character's in different voices, so to hear a narrator doing the vastly different accents, it's really cool!! Although, I doubt that Darling has a cockney-type accent in the book, and Hauk didn't sound quite deep enough. However, I preferred the female voice actually being female so that made up for it. And Kelly Fish did Nykyrian's voice amazingly well. Overall, I will probably still read the hard copy books, but I definitely want to listen to these after.
The hot gorgeous men, the playful bickering between the males. I just love these books, I am so excited for Born of Defiance.
First time, so I can't compare to anything else, but I enjoyed it.
I seriously hope that they make a film of this series, it would be like a dream come true. Anyways, tagline... Um?
Don't Judge a Man by His Past
The Most Feared Assassin in the World and A Tiny Dancer, Who Would've Thought It?
This is not my forte, haha.
I doubt this will ever happen, but if someday they could have a make do all the male voices, and a female do the female voices, that would be perfect. But, I don't know how much this type of thing costs so I am doubting that to happen. But I would love them more if it could!
Yes. It's classic Kenyon; Tragedy, romance, comedy and drama.
It is a whole different universe that is eerily familiar and has the excitement of Sci-Fi, romance of star-crossd lovers, with the drama of warring governments and treacherous family members.
no one scene in particular.
I liked it but no extreme reaction to it. It did make me laugh and I did get choked up a couple of times.
It was certainly not what I expected but was pleasantly surprised by the storyline and what looks to be a promising new series. It is classic Kenyon as she once again conceives a whole new universe with it's own mythos, laws and characters that for all intents looks to have very interesting and tragic backgrounds.
Loved it! Story was fast paced, interesting, emotional and worth the read! Characters were interesting, funny, scary, hateful, sexy, horrible, hunky, and unforgettable! Wow! The narration was disappointing and did do justice to each character.
