Publisher's Summary

In a universe where assassins make the law, everyone lives in fear - except for Syn. Born of an illicit scandal that once rocked a dynasty, he always knew how to survive on the bloodthirsty streets. But that was then, and the future is now...Syn was raised as a tech-thief until his livelihood uncovered a truth that could end his life. He tried to destroy the evidence, and has been on the run ever since. Now trained as an assassin, he allows no one to threaten him. Ever. He is the darkness that swallows his enemies whole.Shahara Dagan is the best bounty hunter in the universe. When Syn comes back on the radar, she's the only one who can bring him to justice. There's only one problem: Syn is a close family friend who's helped out the Dagans countless times. But if she saves him, both of their lives will be on the line. Is Syn's protection worth the risk? The only hope Shahara has is to find the evidence he buried long ago. Now it's kill or be killed - and they, the predators, have just become the hunted...

    "Absolutely Absorbing!!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Born of Fire to be better than the print version?

I don't think one is better than the other. However, one of the things that made the audiobook so entertaining was Fred Berman characterizations. I especially liked Vic!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Shahara!! She kicks major a**!!!!

What does Fred Berman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love Fred. I have listened to ALL of the Sherrilyn Kenyon books that he has narrated and I've NEVER been disappointed. Actually, he is the only reason that I began to listen to this series on Audible. He is also the narrator for many of the Dark Hunter novels and when I saw that he was reading League books too, I jumped to start using my credits! Holders Graham is great too (fantastic, actually) but the sultry masculinity of Fred's voice is mesmerizing.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Move over James bond, you're finally outmatched... and she gives a great crotch shot!!!!

    Any additional comments?

I just love this series. Of all the books, Nykerian & Caillen are my absolute favorites. Syn, however isn't far behind. As a married woman, they make it safe to fantasize about real men who know how to love, cherish, respect and honor strong women. Sherrilyn does a great job of making these men vulnerable without being WEAK. I cannot wait for Hauk's story to come out. I just wish we didn't have to wait so long.

    "Irritating"

I had hoped this book would be better than the first book (Born of Night) of this series... it was not. As with the first, the female heroine was week, simpering, whinny and dumb as a rock. The narrator was better, however than the narrator in the first book.

    "Better Than Ambian"

Sadly, the blurb was more engaging than the book. After a solid hour and a half of repetitive, irritating backstory on virtually every character who crossed the page, I turned my MP3 off in disgust. I understand this was a sophomore book for Ms.Kenyon, but she really should have taken the time to clean up the sophomore errors. I would not recommend this book unless you suffer from insomnia. It's sure to put you to sleep.

    "Enjoying Series"

I'm enjoying the series much more than I thought I would. Enjoyed it more when Kelly was the narrator in Born of Night. Fred doesn't give enough differences between the voices for me. And his female voices are grating, to say the least. Didn't like him when he read the Dark-Hunter series, either. Sigh!!!!

    "Not "Night" but still good"

The narrorator is different from the "Night" book and it threw me off a bit. The story is good, but a bit predictable. Either way it was good entertainment.

    "Definitely kept my attention"

I just dragged myself through The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo, that other people raved about, I was bored. The last couple of the Dark Hunters Wolf (Fang) were okay but I haven't used my credit on another of the werewolf books. I am downloading Born in Ice now. I liked "Acheron" a lot. I am enjoying the new series.

"Why did I put off listening to this?"

I thought Sherrilyn Kenyon's League series couldn't be as good as her Dark Hunter series. I was so wrong ...... just as good ..... I loved it. The narrator from the first book Kelly Fish ( not her real name ) she was great and I loved her Syn accident although it reminded me of Bones lol but I have also loved Fred So this was still good . This was a great listen highly recommend

    "Entertaining"

Worth a listen if you're a Kenyon fan.
Not her best book ever, but it doesn't falter by any means if you want a full perspective of the league universe and its characters.

Plus, the narrators chosen for her audio are great.

"Either not enough plot or not enough nudity"

This seems like a classic "bodice ripper", except it's not. It isn't written well, the plot is mostly missing, the characters are annoying, flat, and predictable. I tolerate these qualities in "trashy romance novels" but it didn't really have all the romance novel aspects either.
