Publisher's summary

Since she was a little girl, Emma Grant has always loved romance. So it's really no surprise that she has found her calling as a wedding florist at Vows. She gets to play with flowers every day and work with her three best friends in the process. She couldn't ask for a better job....

And on the surface, Emma's love life seems to be thriving. Slim and sultry, she brings color into every room she enters, just like the arrangements she creates. Though men swarm around her, she still hasn't found Mr. Right. And the last place she's looking is right under her nose.

But that's just where Jack Cooke is. He's so close to the women of Vows that he's practically family. But the architect has begun to admit to himself that his feelings for Emma have developed into much more than friendship. And when Emma returns his passion - kiss for blistering kiss - things start to get complicated at Vows.

Jack has never been big on commitment, though, while Emma yearns for a lifelong love affair. If the two are to find common ground, they must trust in their history - and in their hearts.

Bed of Roses

I found this book to be fantastic. I was actually very impressed with the narrator. She had a great voice, and really pulled off the emotional parts beautifully. I always love Nora's books, but I do not always enjoy the audio versions. For me this narrator made this book better.

Two Thumbs Up for Bed of Roses!

Bed of Roses by Nora Roberts and narrated by Angela Dawe gets a TWO THUMBS UP! This is a precious story about friendship, family, and the love they all experience and share. This was entirely credit worthy...a must read, especially if you are in the mood to get to know some adorable characters who live, love, laugh and "make" happiness!

feel good romance

I love this series from Nora Roberts. The Bride Quartet is the first books I have read by Nora Roberts and I am getting very attached to the characters. This series is a light easy romantic read. It is not action packed or mysterious but just an all around good love story. I thought I would be bored with these books but I am finding them hard to put down, not because they are nail biting can't wait to turn the next page but because the characters are so well written and you feel like you know them. This is the second book in the series and it focuses on Emma (the florist of the wedding business). It seems each book is going to focus on one friend out of the four friends that opened a wedding business together. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and will probably go crazy waiting for November to read the last of the four books. If you are looking for a feel good romance then try out these books.

I need my heart back please

Emma's book was the one I dreading to listen to.. a sweet, somewhat naïve, the world is filled with sunshine, and happy ever after's are inevitable girl. Yeah, ugh I'll pass. But "Bed of Roses" was WAY different then I expected. I dreaded her story being over, and there were many parts that tore at my heart. While Emily Durante did a good job narrating, the new narrator; Angela Dawe did a fantastic job. Her voices were all different for every character, and her males voices sounded spectacular. Can she redo book 1, so they all match please?

A fun, smart romance read

This was my first romance novel. I thought it may be silly or naive but the characters & story were believable. I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward the third book in the series.

Much better!

Bed of Roses is the second book in the Bride Quartet series by Nora Roberts. I listened to this book in audio and found it enjoyable. The narrator, Angela Dawe, does a good job narrating this story. Some voices strike me off, but overall she does a really good job and the book is a very nice listen.

Emma Grant is always looking for love. As the florist in Vows, her wedding planning business with her 3 best friends, she is all about the romantic. She is never at a loss for a date, but even she has to admit that they never make her tingle. I love how Emma never gives up on what she wants and deserves. So many women would just settle after so many dates, but not her. She knows she deserves to be loved and loved right. Jack comes along and makes her tingle. But, this is so not in her plans. Jack is a member of their inner circle. He’s like a brother and it scares her to take the leap from friend to lover. If it doesn’t work out it could ruin everything.

Jack Cooke has been the adopted brother of the women of Vows ever since his best friend, Del brought him home when they were in college. He knows things will not go over well when he can no longer hold back on his attraction to Emma. He’s always been the love em’ and leave em’ type and he knows Del is not going to like the idea of this at all. I thought Del’s reaction was a bit extreme, personally, but I’m glad it doesn’t ruin the group. Poor Jack is finally ready to take the leap to love, the same leap that he’s always avoided like the plague and all of a sudden he has to fight for it. I really enjoyed how he bumbled around a bit, but once he found his footing and knew what he wanted he fought for it. Having to deal with the group, as a whole and not just Emma would have sent a lot of men running for the hills, but Jack focused on what was important and went after it with all he had.

This really was a sweet story of taking a leap of faith. I think going from friendship to lovers has to be huge. Jack is strong, sexy and all man. It’s really hard to resist that. But, when it came to Emma he really did give everything he had it in him to give.

There were some lulls in the book where I just wanted the story to get a move on, but I think that kind of mimic’s life, right? I’m not sure if this book would have been different in print, rather than listening, but I would recommend it. It’s not some whirlwind romance, though. You’re going to get a nice, slow slide into love with the side of supportive, loving and sometimes meddling friends.
