Publisher's summary

If it was still beating. Angus MacKay has been undead for almost 500 years and it's not often something, or someone, surprises him. Until Emma Wallace. The sight of this luscious agent from the CIA's elite Stake-Out team was enough to stop Angus in his tracks. But then he discovers that she's a vampire slayer, intent on killing the "monsters" who killed her parents. And it's Angus's job to stop her.

The only good vampire is a dead vampire. It's been Emma's motto since she committed her life to the destruction of these things. Now Angus MacKay wants to convince her differently. Sure, he's a sexy Highland warrior who seems to have stepped off the cover of a romance novel, complete with brogue, kilt, and sword, but he's also one of them. And it's her job to kill him.

The war is on, but will it end in the destruction of one or both of them... or in total surrender to a passion for the ages?

Bite into another Love at Stake novel.

A must listen - our favorite in the series thus far

Never stops. This is an action packed vampire Highlander romance with foreign intrigue and humor.

Kind of corny in some places but very entertaining

My type of book. Sparks is a good steady writer, her whole vampire series is similar in that the stories are entertaining without evoking any feelings of sadness.

One of the best vampire series

I absolutely love this series! It’s what all vampire books should be like. The sex scenes don’t nauseate me like J. R. Ward’s books, they’re tasteful. One of the things that I like most is that Kerrelyn shows respect for God. The series are definitely not Christian but unlike other vampire books Kerrelyn does not vilify God. The books are the perfect mixture of romance, drama, and comedy. These vampires are the type I wished were real when I was younger.
I beg authors to write more tasteful and fun vampire books like these!

When bad narrators happen to great books.

I just love this series and I'm glad I read the book prior to the audio or it would have turned me off the entire series. I couldnt get past the 3rd chapter.

always loved the book

i have always loved this book. this was the first one of The love at stage series i read. it got me into the whole series. But the reader... it could have been so much better. very little character voice change. The accents were terrible, and for the love of God Emma is supposed to sound British! That killed me. the writing is great, reader is not so great.

Way to ruin it...

Would you be willing to try another one of Donna Rawlins’s performances?

Absolutely not. The midwestern accent gets old quick and her accents are off. It's very clear she doesn't quite connect with the characters. For example: a scottish character that says "ye" its not some old-timey yee. It's just part of the accent. They don't always say the whole word. Oh, and clit-OR-is. The mispronunciation got me every time.

Any additional comments?

This is a book I've read previously. I like to listen to audio books as I drive, but don't want something I haven't read before, because I tend to miss stuff. As a read, this has always been one I particularly enjoyed, but the narration just makes it drag and make me wonder what is taking so long with this plot... A shame. If you like the series, go read it on your own. Definitely worth it.

Narrator should have kept the accent.

Seriously, that is the worst I can say about this book. In the previous book, Emma had an English accent, so it was difficult to imagine her being from Europe. I'm beginning to think that they really should have stuck with one narrator for the entire series, in order to keep the continuity. The books are very much what they should be, the dialog is amusing and the romance is there, but the continuity problems with the narration can be distracting.

The voice artist did a great job.

The artists ability to commit to the different characters personalities. They did and a great job!

Absolutely the WORST narrator I've heard yet!

Would you try another book from Kerrelyn Sparks and/or Donna Rawlins?

Yes

Who was your favorite character and why?

I find this series has a great ensemble of characters and without them the characters that the individual books in the series focus on wouldn't shine quite as bright without them. So I don't think I would be able to pick just one.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I was so put off from the narrator performance of the accents that I couldn't even finish the book all the way which was very up setting since I've read this book and love it and most all Kerrelyn Sparks books and enjoy listening to the audio versions of the books. If I could give the narrators performance zero stars I would since it was the only thing lacking. And fed only reason the overall rating is as low as it is is because the narrators performance was so bad which deterred you from how great the book really is.

Do you think Be Still My Vampire Heart needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Obviously it already does so this question is irrelevant.

Any additional comments?

I REALLY hated the narrator performance and if bad narration makes audio books unbearable for you like it does me you should NOT by any means waste a credit and especially any money this one unfortunately.
