Publisher's summary

I am called Chapel . . .

For nearly six centuries I have roamed the night, a mortal man no longer. Would that I could undo the past -- when I entered the sanctuary of the Knights Templar to wrest from them the Holy Grail, only to discover the chalice I raised to my lips was not the sacred relic but a hellish cup of damnation. Now I shun the day and all things human, driven by an ungodly thirst. And yet...

Never have I known a maiden the like of Prudence Ryland, whose beauty and spirit awaken a heart I feared long cold and dead. But her young life is slipping away, and she also seeks the deliverance of the Grail -- unaware that the cost of her search could be her soul. I must help Prudence, for in six hundred years, no other woman has stirred my passions so. But dare I tender to my beloved that which she most desires -- the sensuous "gift" of forever that is both rapture and a curse: my immortal kiss?

AAHHHHH, WHAT A JOY WHEN A WRITER GETS IT RIGHT !

I just couldn't stop listening to this book, it held my attention throughout. It's basically another 'twist' on the vampire genre (they are the 'originals' ) but with a nice romantic plot .

I hope Kathryn Smith has taken her phone off the hook, cancelled her weekends and doesn't intend to take any holidays because I want MORE MORE MORE of the Knights Templar stories please please please!

The original Vampires

A believable concept on how vampires came to be. Thoroughly realistic. There were some wonderful moments in the book, however there were parts that dragged on. I didn't need to know every lil detail of her clothing, maybe description of one outstanding outfit, but not needed for other daily wear. Also I would have liked there to have been more detail of how the inside of the tomb/cellar looked. This was very vague, except to say the cup wasn't there. Did they thoroughly search it? Or just gave up because someone else beat them there and they believed they had it. (This wasn't cleared up for a certainty) This story deals mostly with the illness and impending death of Prudence. All of the soul searching and what ifs became truly boring.
The narrator had a pleasing voice, however she just read the story. It wasn't a performance.
She didn't have a wide range of voices. Everyone sounded basically the same. Some deviation, not very much.

Tender Love Story

Would you try another book from Kathryn Smith and/or Vanessa Hart?

I gave it 3 stars because to me thats an average rating. It didn't set me on fire, but its a good listen. I already purchased the next book in this series, so yes I will listen to another book from Kathryn Smith.

Any additional comments?

I love vampire stories and this one is much more sedate than most. More of a love story than typical vampire stories.

The brotherhood really

Can't really get excited about these vampires. The premise of the story starts off well enough. But then the story takes a turn and seems to concentrate on saving the girl who is dying rather than establishing the characters that will make up the brotherhood. It's a little weak with the potential to be better. I think because the vampire saving the dying girl has been done so many times that there is no extra punch to this tale. The narrator is not the best, but there is an attempt to distinguish between the male and female voices.
If there is nothing else on you plate and you have and I stress plenty of credits to spare then try the series out. I myself will take a look at book two.

Deeeeeelish!

Great vampire story and pleasantly unexpected. The story is about a vampire who has not allowed himself to love in over six centuries only to fall in love with someone who is not only very sick but dying. Tormented by the thought of the “beast” he has become he cannot imagine turning her in order to save her. The story shows his inner struggles and her family’s constant and unwavering support and hope for a miracle to save her life. The twist at the end leaves the book open for the future adventures to come in the next books of the series. I liked this book very much and am sure you will too. It will thrill you and romance you and leave you wanting and asking for more.

Great Intro some wonderfully bad/good boys

What three words best describe Vanessa Hart’s voice?

Odd, Confusing, Poor Choice

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I really liked this intro for the series. Someone else also mentioned that it took them a while to understand that it wasn't based in modern time and I understood that. There was no real direct mention in the first chapter, not the prologue, that it happened in the past. Other than that I loved the story. I loved hearing the struggle between the male lead, Chapel, and the female lead, Prudence.

The twist on a classic vampire story is great. The Holy Grail/Blood Grail story line is wonderful and something that I haven't read before. I'm excited to see how the other members of the Dark Protectors will come into the story and who will they and their mates defeat the enemy in the end.

Any additional comments?

The narrator is very.........odd. Not bad just......odd. Do I think that the book would work better with another narrator, yes. But I do really like the voice the narrator has for Chapel. It's just the voice used for Prudence and her sisters. It's off and not doesn't really work well.

Deathly boring!

This book was so boring!! I had to force myself to return to it over and over again until I finished it. Part of the problem was that the narrator read so slowly. A better narration would have helped somewhat.

What a nice guy...oh, he's a vampire too?

If you could sum up Be Mine Tonight (The Brotherhood of Blood, Book 1) in three words, what would they be?

Nice twist, thanks!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Temple, for being so kind...for a bloodsucker.

Which character – as performed by Vanessa Hart – was your favorite?

Mulina, Temple's companion.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The moment Temple realized it's okay to be happy - it was well written.

Any additional comments?

A very easy and enjoyable read. I will read the others.

Fast paced, captivatinng, and sexy.

This was a wonderful introduction to this series by Kathryn Smith. It definitely caught my interest and I can hardly wait get the rest of these books. Everyone loves a tormented hero and gutsy heroine and Ms.Smith definitely delivers with these two leads. I couldn't put this down until the final chapter was read. If you're not sure about this one, take the leap-you won't be disappointed.
