Publisher's summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sylvia Day comes the first novel in the Crossfire series - a provocative masterstroke of abandon and obsession that redefined the meaning of desire, and became a global phenomenon.

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness...

He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds...and desires.

The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn’t tear us apart...

Umm

I read this book years ago and remembered liking it at the time. I don't know if it is my age or life circumstances I did not enjoy this book. The characters had some serious mental health diagnoses that they were facing, and together they brought out each other's neurosis in a bad way. I can appreciate the concept of healing together, but this seemed more like the negative consequences of codependency.

loved the narrator

There were moments of levity and the fun of love at first sight that I enjoy.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

there's another part to this!

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

when she did the females voice, when she did gidon voice.

Was Bared to You worth the listening time?

i say yes because i used a credit, i was really trying to see what the hype is about mentally/sexually ill people who is ok with staying in that state of mind (gidon) i don't know.

Easy entertainment

This story is an entertaining diversion but nothing that drew me in too deeply. The writing is perhaps more polished and edited (and slightly less repetitive) than 50 Shades, yet I did not become as attatched to the characters. In spite of it's flaws, the author of 50 Shades managed to connect me with the heart of her characters and make me care about them. This book, however, had a challenge passing that threshhold of being a rather superficial story about beautiful, too-perfect people and was not thoroughly successful. Some of the dialogue was even less convincing and more cliche. In one scene late in the story, the main female character Eva is actually looking for a heartfelt answer, and the best that Gideon can come up with is along the lines of 'if you don't stop doubting that this is going to last, I'm going to turn you over my knee and make damn sure you like it'. Come on, really? This is written by a woman, for women (primarily)...this is supposed to be what women enjoy, want to hear, etc? Sorry, I don't think so. The narration, however, was fine in my opinion...vocally her characterazation was convincing enough to enjoy the whole story, nothing too outstanding one way or another. Overall, this story did interest me (just) enough that I will check out the sequel when it is released - chalk one up for curiosity and all that to see what happens next.

Good for 50 withdrawl...

Where does Bared to You rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Close to the top-the best narration, though by far.

What other book might you compare Bared to You to and why?

50 Shades; the raw, sexiness and emotion. Very well written.

Have you listened to any of Jill Redfield’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. She's the best narrator though, out of all the other audible books I've read & I've read several.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I didn't cry, but I definitely felt strongly about it...

Any additional comments?

Can't wait for the next one-I love how hard they work when they know they love each other.

WOW

Being as this was my first book from this author I delved in without many expectations and I came up enthrawled. As a person who understands feeling broken by your past and the overwhelming need to overcome the circumstances and prosper this book kept me imeshed in the emotions of Gideon and Ava. I want more.

Another 50

What did you like best about Bared to You? What did you like least?

Almost too similar to 50 Shades, but still super hot! The main character has some really great lines, especially when describing what she needs in a sexual relationship. The sex scenes are great, but it ends like the first 50 Shades book, almost mid-sentence. I don't like that unless the complete series is out and I can move on to the next book. I prefer a little more of a conclusion.

Was Bared to You worth the listening time?

Yes, it's okay.

Cross My Heart

Eva and Gideon's saga begins and so far the tumultuous two have led us on a rollercoaster ride that I am sure will only get crazier. Eva is beautiful brainy but hides away dark pain from from a terrible trauma. All these things make up the woman she is and the choices she makes for her life. On what she hopes is a path to recovery she tries tries to avoid triggers and pattern behaviors detrimental to her finding peace. She is persevering a new job a new city a new Eva! What she didn't bank on was meeting one Gideon Cross... Tall Dark and oh so Handsome. Gideon would check off anyone's boxes except the one where he doesn't seem to want a relationship. Big no no in Eva land. But Cross is determined to have her and she is helpless to deny him. Once they subcome they both quickly realize that the undeniable chemistry they feel will not be quenched so easily and Cross wants to make Eva his! Relationships are hard even in the best of circumstances, but with Eva's baggage it was never going to be a walk in the park. As they try and make things work it comes to light that Cross knows a little something about what Eva when through and is hiding scars of his own. The bonds that tie will they hold?

Narration - Jill became the fiery stubborn and saucy Eva! She did a fantastic job with her as well as her interpretations of all the other characters.

Great Book!!!!!

Would you listen to Bared to You again? Why?

Yes, probably to hear somethings that maybe i missed. Because i enjoyed it.

Would you recommend Bared to You to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes i would recommend it to a friend. Its a good book. Helps people to realize that not everyone is perfect but you can't run from you past forever. At some point you have to deal with it.

Which character – as performed by Jill Redfield – was your favorite?

I think she did an awesome job as Gideon & Cary. She made the male character voices very convincing.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes when Ava reached out to Gideon that night he almost attacked her in his sleep. Putting her own fears aside, she tried to comfort him. I think at that moment he really knew he loved her and would do anything to keep from hurting her.

Any additional comments?

The only this i would say is that i was very familiar to 50 shades. I was really expecting something entirely different with Gideon's past but over-all and a good read.

A good read, but not 50 Shades!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, it was time well spent, but not as good as 50 Shades. All the reviews I read said it was just as good as 50 without the SM. It was a good book and I will read the next one when it comes out.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

It just seemed a little like the author wasn't sure about who she wanted him to be. At first he has a hotel room to take her too, which makes you believe he does that alot. But he turns out to be not like that.

What about Jill Redfield’s performance did you like?

She did a good job, a great story teller.
