A New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Brenda Jackson has won numerous awards for her contemporary African-American romances. In Jamaica for a well-deserved vacation, city planner Darcy Owens is stunned by the sight of a chocolate-skinned god in the distance. Upon closer inspection, however, it turns out this dream man is York Ellis, an arrogant ex-cop - and notorious bachelor - Darcy knows all too well. But when her life is threatened, he offers her protection and sparks begin to fly between them.

One of the best I've listened to.
The whole book was memorable.
You can't fight love
Love Brenda Jackson!
First my name Melissa , I live in Stafford, VA. Have one son. I finished school in 1990. I'm 43 years old. My birthday is 9-19-71.
I enjoy the story very much, I love the story from the begin to the end. Like they on vacation, they met. Didn't either one, they was at same place. How they throughly they didn't like each other. When time with on, they saw that had feelings one another. At the end to come together as one.😀😜😉
HOT HOT !! !Having a love-hate relationship but find any lot fine and love romance hot passionate sex can change that love-hate relationship to have had relationship including love
Shari Peele captured the personality and character of the protagonist quite well. However, the story line is sadly lacking.
I have read Brenda Jackson's books before, so I would be willing to give her another change. However, I hope that her characters could be more developed and realistic.
Better personalities of the female protagonist would make the story better. The story would also have been improved by giving more detail to how the case was solved.
it pains me to see that an educated, successful woman of color is portrayed as extremely stubborn, difficult, and stupid in some cases.
This book is a fairly predictable romance novel. But, this certainly doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a chance. The premise is somewhat reminiscent of "How Stella Got Her Groove Back." But Brenda Jackson definitely puts her own spin on the story. I love that the heroine of this book, Darcy Owens, is smart and successful. So when she finally finds the right guy, you feel like she finally has it all. Darcy is a bit of a smart mouth. But she has definitely found her match in York Ellis, who somehow manages to be both a possessive alpha male and a sensitive guy.
Jackson has chosen a plot that we all know and love: two people with a long-held sexual attraction are thrown together in a difficult/awkward situation, and find that they can no longer fight said attraction.
Shari Peele did a great job as narrator.
yes, because it was a good listen.
when he showed up at the door, he just took control.
she was pretty good.
i went back to the hotel room and showed her that damon was a bad guy, and how he was coming up with way's to keep her out of trouble.
The reader's voice. She was passionate in the way she read the book and she made each character unique. I also liked the way she spoke the ethnic phrases.
All of them, they were each unique and added to the book.
When Darci and York made love for the first time and every time after that.
This book was so hot I found myself testifing with my hand in the air every time they made love. I love the way Shari described the sex scenes it was very erotic. Well done. I can't wait to listen to more books read by her.
