Publisher's summary

Some things just won’t stay buried… at grave’s end.

It should be the best time of half-vampire Cat Crawfield’s life. With her undead lover, Bones, at her side, she’s successfully protected mortals from the rogue undead. But though Cat’s worn disguise after disguise to keep her true identity a secret from the brazen bloodsuckers, her cover’s finally been blown, placing her in terrible danger.

As if that wasn’t enough, a woman from Bones’ past is determined to bury him once and for all. Caught in the crosshairs of a vengeful vamp, yet determined to help Bones stop a lethal magic from being unleashed, Cat’s about to learn the true meaning of bad blood. And the tricks she’s learned as a special agent won’t help her. She will need to fully embrace her vampire instincts in order to save herself—and Bones—from a fate worse than the grave.

Critic reviews

“Each successive chapter in Frost’s exceptional Night Huntress series adds more complexity, death-defying action, and fiery romance. While expertly deepening Cat and Bones’ love story, Frost also keeps the plot revelations absorbing and the jeopardy remorseless. In an increasingly rich and vibrant genre, she continues to prove she’s a star.” ( Romantic Times)
“A can’t-put-down masterpiece that’s sexy-hot and a thrill-ride on every page. I’m officially addicted to the series.” (Gena Showalter, New York Times best-selling author)

Sucks you in. (Pun intended)

I've read a lot of fantasy / paranormal romance books and must admit I've found a lot of them to be too formulaic, too predictable or to be full of "stormy emotions" that don't grip the reader at all.
The Night Huntress series, on the other hand, does EVERYTHING right.
The story is fast paced, original, fun and sexy. The chemistry between Cat and Bones is sizzling. The side characters all have their own personalities - which add a lot of spice to the story. Despite the fantasy backdrop, it's hard not to get emotionally involved in the story. The book had me both in tears and grinning from ear to ear.

It's hard to compare the books to anything else, but imagine Trinity from the Matrix movies, put into a True Blood-ish setting. Add Spike from Buffy as the male lead and make Quentin Tarantino the director - and you might get an idea what kind of ride you're in for.

A war! Make for a exciting twist to the heart

This third installment is all about vampire war. We get to know much more about Bones in this book. We also a delivered a complex plot. One of the best things about this novel is, Cat make some decisions about herself and we start to see her character change in subtle, yet very interesting complex ways. This has interesting impacts for future installments.

At this point I am used to Gilbert's narration of Bones -- still not a favorite, but... You can read this as a stand-along and then go back and read the first two. When thinking about this book, the for two books give a much sub-story. If you really must read this one first go ahead, otherwise I suggest starting from the beginning.

I give this book a thumbs up. It's a riveting listen.

I love this series!!!!

It took a while to get into because the way the narrator does Bones's voice sounds like he should look more like Gollam than the hot vampire he's supposed to be. I started substituting narrator's voice of Bones (yes in my head) w Paul Bettany's (in my head I think Paul would make a fantastic Bones)!!! I'm completely hooked!!!! This series is dangerously addictive!!!

Bones' Voice is Romantic as nails on a chalkboard

I love this series and I listen to one book after another. Cat and Bones are wonderful, fully realized and just plain fun. The problem for me is the narration. Travis Gilbert hits the voice of everyone and I mean everyone, she's even good at them, but Bones. All the Male voices she does are perfect. Everytime I hear Bones I have to tune out the sound. He no more has the voice of a sexy male, than Popeye. The narration can make or break a recreational book for me, and Bones just about does it for me, the story keeps me listening.

Tavia is the best

The book series is well written and Tavia is probably the best narrator by far.

More Bones, please!!!! Intriguing and Hot!

If I could give 10 stars, I would. I laughed, I cried....a lot. ...I facepalmed, I cheered, I just didn't put it down.. I couldn't! I was not disappointed with this story. It was as gripping as I expected it to. I think it was even a little bit sexier and spicier than I had expected. On to Book 4!!

Not bad but not the best.

***CONTAINS SPOILER***I had a hard time staying focused in this book. The story felt like it was all over the place at times. I don't like Tate being SO in love with Cat and his character really annoys me. However, I can say that I was actually depressed when I thought Bones was dead! I read a lot of supernatural series and they always have one or two books in the series that just moves the series along and this felt like one of them. Tavia Gilbert still did a fantastic job! Oh...and I love Vlad!
