What happens in Vegas... doesn't always stay there.

Autumn Haven's Las Vegas "to-do" list said to catch a show and play the slots—not wake up married to a sexy jerk like Sam LeClaire. The first moment she saw him eyeing her like a luscious piece of the dessert buffet, her usually responsible self told her to run. And she did—right into the wildest fantasy weekend of her life. But Monday morning jolted her back to reality, and before she could say "pass the coffee", Sam was gone.

Now a successful wedding planner, Autumn hasn't clapped eyes on the heartbreaking hockey superstar for over two years... until she organizes his teammate's "Special Day", when Sam makes a big play to pick up where he left off! But she has vowed any man of hers plays for keeps. Is Sam the man for her - or does she banish him to the sin bin forever?

The narrator brings this down........

Rachel Gibson's books are some of my favorites..........couldn't wait for another one to be put to audio and was very excited to start listening to this one...........BUT, the narrator is way TOO phone sexy for me...................I'm not interested in phone sex with a woman........LOLL......and this is how she sounds through the majority of the book. Really very annoying, and I was rolling my eyes, frequently, instead of concentrating on the story...........as I was wondering WHY IS SHE READING LIKE THIS?? Can't she read the tale normally, instead of breathing it out in mumbles? Please, don't use this gal again......go back to previous narrators!!

Cupcakes or Muffin?

Where does Any Man of Mine rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This ranks high up there. If you like this one try Jill Shalvis, Rumor has it. This story is one of the best of the 9 books, I purchased all at once.

What did you like best about this story?

Sam and Connor's dialogue. It will make you bark laughter out loud. Not all of the R.G. readers did this. I did not like Emma Bates. Susan Bennett was good and K.Early was too.

Have you listened to any of Kathe Mazur’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She is one of the best of R.G. books readers. yes, she miss pronounced Savage, but she more than made up for it in getting the designer names correct! She brought both Sam and Connor to big screen life. Kathe, made good use of the R.G. dialogue and made for a good sexy and LOL listen. She will not disappoint YOU

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Gads, this would make a fun and sexy movie, Cupcakes or Muffin

Any additional comments?

I did put this reader on my to buy list, she is that good. Audible, put her on humor or sassy dialogue reads, please.

Left wanting more

Would you listen to Any Man of Mine again? Why?

Yes, I loved the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Any Man of Mine?

When Sam shows up on Autumns vacation.

What about Kathe Mazur’s performance did you like?

She was a little hard to listen to, but liked her more than some I've listened to. I wished Susan Bennett was the narrator.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed in parts

Any additional comments?

Overall I enjoyed this book, I will read more in this series!

One of my Favorite Books, but an Awful Narrator

What did you like best about this story?

The hero. Sam LeClaire is my gold standard.

How could the performance have been better?

Where do I start. I put off buying the audio book for a couple of years because in the sample the narrator gave Sam a horrible nasal intonation that didn't fit my mental picture of him at all. Fortunately, she dropped the nasal tone as the book went on. She didn't differentiate that much between the voices of the characters. A lot of times I had to rewind to figure out who was talking in spite of having read the book many times.Mazur also had an irritating habit of running on with her sentences and paragraphs. Pauses in reading serve a purpose. They let us orient ourselves and figure out where we are in the narration. Many times I had to stop and rewind because of the shift in time or location in what my ear perceived as one sentence. These aural run-ons threw me completely out of the story.Ordinarily, I wouldn't mind her mispronunciation of Ty Savage's last name. In he preceding book, True Love and Other Disasters, the author makes quite a big deal about the pronunciation (it's Savahge not Savage), and I think someone should have told Mazur she was getting it wrong. Finally, there is her performance of Conner, Autumn and Sam's little boy. As written he's a very believable five year old with some great dialogue. Mazur's Conner lisps, doesn't pronounce his r's, and sounds like an adult woman who is doing a poor job of at performing a little boy.

Any additional comments?

This is my favorite Rachel Gibson book to read, but it's my least favorite to listen to. I'm not sure that I'll ever listen to Mazur again.

Very Good!

It took me awhile to get this book, I don't know why except I haven't listened to any books by this author. Big mistake. This is a great book, one that has a wonderful ending. I wish fathers that have left children thinking "MOM'S" are all they(the children) need, would read this book.

Not as good as the first and narrator is aweful

Any additional comments?

This is the second book I have listened to from the Chinooks series by this author. This is not nearly as good as the first one I listened to (True Love and Other Disaster #4 in the series). The narrator was SO bad it was difficult to listen to. She also mispronounced the name of a character from book #4...no big deal except in the previous book they specifically took the time to explain how to pronounce the name (Savage) correclty. Maybe worth a listen if you catch in on-sale, but don't pay full price.

Warning - New narrator in series

I thoroughly enjoyed "True Love and Other Disasters" and "Nothing But Trouble", so I ordered "Any Man of Mine" , without a second thought. BIG mistake. This book is read by Kathy Mazur instead of Susan Bennett. Kathy's cadence is slow AND she clearly was not familiar with the series as she mispronounces names and makes some key characters sound like idiots. She completely misses the personality of the characters that have been established. I am not typically overly critical on narrator changes, but this one was like hitting a wall. 1.25 speed helped but it was such a bummer after listening to the previous two novels. I would suggest taking a break from the series before listening to this one so the difference in narration isn't so shocking.
