Publisher's summary

Diana Gabaldon's immensely popular Outlander saga soars to new heights with this seventh novel, which takes listeners on a breathtaking journey to 1777 America.

Jamie Fraser knows from his time-traveling wife Claire that, no matter how unlikely it seems, America will win the Revolutionary War. But that truth offers little solace, since Jamie realizes he might find himself pointing a weapon directly at his own son - a young officer in the British army.

And Jamie isn't the only one with a tormented soul - for Claire may know who wins the conflict, but she certainly doesn't know whether or not her beloved Jamie survives.

Epic in scope and featuring a colorful cast that includes many legendary figures - including hero-turned-traitor Benedict Arnold and bawdy statesman Benjamin Franklin - An Echo in the Bone is a thrill from start to finish.

Fantastic Beautifully Written

I love all of Diana's books. They are the most intriguing books I have ever had the pleasure of listening too. What I love most is I can listen too them 10 times and find something I missed everytime.Yes they are long but so very informative and she use's so many words of my own past that it's fun remembering my own childhood, such as "Jesus Roosevelt Christ".I haven't heard that in years and in my mind it lent truth to my own past..Keep up the good work, your books are worth the wait..But hurry up on the next PLEASE...

An Exho in the Bone

Davina Porter's performance of the book enables me to hear the characters in my mind even when I'm not listening to it. While reading the written word is my first love, Davina Porter performed Diana Gabaldon's wonderful book just beautifully. Until listening to Davina Porter, I would've put Jim Dale at the top of the all time best narrators, but in my opinion they share that exalted position.

The Outlander series superb This is the only time travel novel I've read, but she does a wonderful job. Her meticulous investigation of history puts you right there, with all the 18th century's sights, sounds and smells.

A complex story with full bodied characters, I would recommend the while series to men and women alike.

I really hope there are more to come. Best series of books I ever listened to.

Complex

While overall excellent, some threads in the story are tricky and difficult to follow, in my opinion. For example, the names and ties between the French characters, and the variety of military personnel and battles. If I was reading it in print, it would have been easier. I often wish Audible offered both the e-print and audio versions as part of the same purchase or for a nominal increase in price, so you could toggle back and forth between formats while maintaining your place. For example, if I want to "read" while sitting in a crowded waiting room and I don't have earphones on me, I'm out of luck. Regardless, An Echo in the Bone does NOT disappoint!

Superb

As always, Davina Porter portrays each character brilliantly, maintaining the flow of the story and leaving one wanting to come back for more.

Just as I thought I was tiring of the series, I'm left wanting to hear the next episode. The author's attention to detail of the time brings the tale to life.

The author is a genius....

I have plowed through this series nonstop. I'm ready to begin the last book. The story is amazing. I have only one criticism, and I say it in jest. The author uses the word "alacrity" too much.

Diana Does It Again

So well done. Book lovers of historical fiction or historical romance shouldnt miss this. I've both read the paperback and listened to this on audio, but I fell in love with it on audiobook. For those worried about length, it goes fast when told by the narrator.

Be sure to read this series in order.

I can't get enough of Outlander! Yet another success for Diana Gabaldon. I think this was the 4th time I've listened to this series and it hasn't gotten old yet.

Another Amazing Book in the Continuing Saga

It's hard to summarize DG's books with anything other than to give them high praise for continuing to stay true to the beloved characters, Jamie and Claire. Always action packed with a few unexpected twists.
