Publisher's summary

Her Aunt Allegra said, "A young lady with a fortune is subject to all sorts of untoward attentions by the worst sort of vagrants."

It is a lesson Tabitha Timmons, a penniless spinster, has never needed to heed. That is, until she is left a vast fortune payable only upon her marriage to the very respectable Mr. Barkworth - a match that offers little chance of discovering exactly what her aunt means by "untoward attentions."

But the same can't be said when the Duke of Preston happens along Tabitha's path. He spies a rebellious streak in her that matches his own, and he makes it his mission to save her from such a passionless match, interfering in her life at every turn. All too soon, Preston - whose very name spells ruin - has Tabitha caught between the good fortune that guarantees her security, and his kiss, which promises an entirely different kind of happily-ever-after.

So very entertaining

The narrator did an awesome job narrating both the female and male voices. She really brought the story to life. The story itself was exceptional. I got hooked in the first few minutes and was not able to put it down. Fast paced, funny, and romantic. Highly recommend this story.

Skip this one

The narrator was dreadful, the story was not compelling and the characters were not developed to be interesting or likable. I’m pretty generous listening to books while doing mundane tasks, but this one was painful.

Remarkably fun read!

Laugh inducing tale written with such talent that the smiles it produces are matched only by the frustrated growls induced by the unfolding drama.

Susan Duerden is perfection, adding her talent to the mix of emotions and dramatics with a special sort of zeal you can't help but feel.

Heat level.... hm.... high on chemistry, low on intimacies.

Creditworthy, oh yes! This is a multiple reread for my library!!!

Perfectly Imperfect Love

First let me say Tim Campbell the narrator for this book puts on a performance to rival the radio greats of the 1930's. There are few narrators I enjoy listening to as much as him.
Christi Caldwell always writes amazing books. The characters have depth & are historically actuate. This book really stood out to me as superb. The hero is amazing. He is a self made man coming from the streets. The heroine comes from London Nobility. The course of love shows what is in your heart and your drive that make you the person you want to be in life. There are many characters from other books. They are terrific. My only wish was for an epilogue. I love them.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I've read alot of Elizabeth Boyle, this was one of the best - looking forward to a sequel

Have you listened to any of Susan Duerden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Good story....

Elizabeth Boyle left me wanting to read more.... The story was rich and full of great character development. The plot was simple but the writing had me laughing and anxious turn the page (so to speak) The narrator did a great job of bringing the characters to life. I would recommend this book if you are looking for a sweet romance and a good laugh as your swept back in time and enthralled into the lives of English nobility and sweet country ladies who are very resourceful....

Loved it.. Mostly because of the narrator..

Any additional comments?

It was entertaining all the way through. Loved Preston and Tabitha, Roxley, Harriet, Daphne. The Barkworth family was a little strange and I loved how Preston kept messing up the name, I was laughing out loud. There was sexual tension throughout the book, which I love, but only one quick sex scene, which I wasn't crazy about. An all-around terrific read.

As to the narrator: Spectacular! She made the characters come alive with all the different voices. I absolutely love it when a book calls for a laugh and the narrator actually does laugh. Phenomenal job!!!

I would also like to say that the description tells us what the book is about or we can zip over to Amazon and look at reviews. This is AUDIBLE! What we need to review is the narrator. Does he or she suck? Why? Is he or she too nasal-y, too sweet for the kind of book he or she is reading, to gruff, too bland, too robotic, lacks emotion. Is he or she doing nothing but reading the book? Not changing his or her voice for the male and female voices? Is the narrator sounding the same whether she or he is reading a whisper spoken?
Most of us on AUDIBLE don't really care what the book is about. We want to know about the narrator! This is AUDIBLE, after all.

Will not disappoint!!!

The story was great. Tabitha and Preston's chemistry was perfect together. Preston's charm was the best. I will probably read it again and will definitely get the next in this series.

ONE OF THE BEST OF IT'S TYPE

Funny, romantic `Cindarella' story with likeable characters, a good plot and, of course, a rogue of a Duke - what more do we romance groupies want.

Worth the credit? Absolutely, it's a re-listen book.

just okay

a okay little book but nothing spectacular. A nice read when your bored and need some thing to fill the time. Chacaters are a bit predictable especially the main female character who is portrayed as being not to smart for not even questioning the circumstances she found herself in.
The narrator should never ever attempt to do a male voice again.
