Publisher's summary

Eleven thousand years ago a god was born. Cursed into the body of a human, Acheron spent a lifetime of shame. His human death unleashed an unspeakable horror that almost destroyed the earth. Brought back against his will, he became the sole defender of mankind.

Only it was never that simple. For centuries, he has fought for our survival and hidden a past he never wants revealed - until a lone woman who refuses to be intimidated by him threatens his very existence.

Now his survival, and ours, hinges on hers, and old enemies reawaken and unite to kill them both. War has never been more deadly...or more fun.

Love in vein: listen to another Dark-Hunter novel.

My favorite

Love Acheron , I have his sun and three lightening bolts striking the middle with . “ Just because you can doesn’t mean you should” . Written around it tattooed on my arm.

Most Amazing Book I've Read

I absolutely loved this book, the visionable scenes in the book were so described that I felt that I was actually visualizing it like a movie.

This was good but seemed to lack. something?

What to say about Acheron. The first 2/3 of the book is very difficult to listen to or read. It's brutal and cruel, but it does explain Ash's life, but I think it was just a little bit TOO long. Like another reviewer wrote, we got that he was treated like crap with the first few hundred pages, still, it was over 400 pages of brutality and hate. She broached a lot of taboo subjects and for that I have to give her props.

Rape, incest, brutality and sexual violence were deeply ingrained in most of this book and some people are very sensitive to that kind of thing.

For years my friend and I have been trying to figure out who Ash's HEA would be and it turns out I was right.

As for their interaction, she seemed to deal with him and everything that he is/was with a grain of salt and it was almost too easy in that regard. Maybe it was because of his past, that he needed someone, just once, to say ok, I'll take you as you are.

Ash wanted/needed love. To be loved and to know love. He gets that with this book, but I can't help but wonder how this will change him in the future of the series.

I also wonder about his brother and what happens with him at the end of the book. Somethings were done to death and others seemed to be glossed over quickly where I think they should have been explored and explained more for a more in depth view of it all.

It was nice to see some old faces also, but again, not much was new or settled there. They were just kinda there to say that they were.

Things with Nick are still bitter and raw and Artie, man, she's a piece of work. I can't wait until she gets hers.

It is at times hard to imagine that Ash, the leader of the DH let people treat him like he had for thousands of years. sometimes I wonder simply. WHY didn't he just LEAVE? Get on a ship and go somewhere else? Walk out of his fathers house when he was old enough? Why sit there, where everyone hates you. He could have saved himself a lot of pain.

Wonderful Book!!!!

Wow! This book was great! It had me crying, it had me angry, laughing and finally very happy with the outcome.
I have to say, this is one of the best books I've read in a long time. If you are looking a book that has a little of everything and a very good and detailed story, this book needs to be your choice.

Just WONDERFUL

This book was everything I was hoping for and more than I expected. A lot of questions were answered, but in a way that keeps you looking for the next book to see just what else could happen. If you like the Dark Hunter series you will LOVE this book.

The narrarater did a great job with all the different characters and accents.

Amazing .. Finally.

This book is several years overdue past its original deadline. I am pleased it when it finally arrived and it was not a disappointment. The audible book reader was *outstanding*. Fantastic. I was so pleased I also read the hard cover in addition to this audiobook. It is one of the few I have listened to multiple times. I can say that this is not an author whose work I display on my library shelves. Nor do I read her books over and over. But Acheron was excellent and I have listened to it repeatedly.

Some parts are rather sad and sometimes I skip those but the book, overall I have been terribly pleased with it. I think the audible reader's vocal talents are to be highlighted.

With the added flavor of the vocal talents of the actor, it took it over the top. Most of the feedback and reviews that were critical of the amount of pages devoted to the miserable beginning of Acherons life. That criticism was pretty scathing. Too little page percentage weighted for happier in balance with his overall lifetime. While it was an a sad life, and I would have liked it to have been a bit happier, I think people need to ease up. I am just glad the story has finally been told. This author has been dribbling out tidbits about this character for over a decade and now the meat and potatoes arrived.

In fact, I'd like to see another book on Acheron. I loved it.

Love Holter Graham and Acheron, Tori is Meh.

Where does Acheron rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I read this book when it first came out and loved the first part of the story. However I seriously dislike Acheron's final love interest, Tori, a disco fan/ self-righteous archeologist. Ash deserved better. Hell, a reformed Artemis would have been better than wishy washy blech Tori. Holter Graham of course is amazing, one of my favorite audiobook narrators, the purchase price is worth it just for 20 plus hours of his voice.
