Publisher's summary

An angel with immense power and insatiable desire, Adrian Mitchell leads an elite Special Ops unit of the seraphim. His task is to punish the Fallen - angels who have become vampires - and command a restless pack of indentured lycans.

But Adrian has suffered his own punishment for becoming involved with mortals - losing the woman he loves again and again. Now, after nearly 200 years, he has found her: Shadoe, her soul once more inhabiting a new body that doesn’t remember him. This time he won’t let her go.

With no memory of her past as Shadoe, Lindsay Gibson knows only that she can’t help being fiercely attracted to the smoldering, seductive male who crosses her path. Swept into a dangerous world of tumultuous passion and preternatural conflict, Lindsay is soon caught between her angel lover, her vampire father, and a full-blown lycan revolt. There’s more at stake than her love and her life - she could lose her very soul....

Critic reviews

"Explodes with passion and heat. A hot, sexy angel to die for and a gutsy heroine make for one exciting read." ( New York Times best-selling author Cheyenne McCray)
"Sylvia Day spins a gorgeous adventure that combines gritty, exciting storytelling with soaring lyricism. Adrian is my favorite kind of hero - an alpha-male angel determined to win the heart of his heroine, Lindsay, while protecting her from his lethal enemy.... This is definitely a book for your keeper shelf." ( New York Times best-selling author Angela Knight)

Two words, Angels and Vampires. Nuff said!

Where does A Touch of Crimson rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I could NOT put this book down. I did not write, sleep, or get anything other than reading accomplished for the past two days!!! Cannot WAIT to get my hands on the next book!

I liked it.

What about Luke Daniels’s performance did you like?

I thoroughly enjoyed Luke Daniels's performance. I liked how he distinguished between narration and characters, and his differentiation in the characters. Generally also, I liked his voice in this. I would look for Luke Daniels narration in other audio books.

Any additional comments?

I definitely would not call this an epic saga by any means, but I did enjoy this story and I'm looking forward to the next two books. This book handled angels and vampires and lycans a bit differently and kept me interested. This book builds the characters nicely for the next books and makes you interested in what happens with them - although I'm disappointed in the change of narrator.

Disappointed

I liked the whole lycanthropy, vampire, seraphim story, and I hoped it would be more like the City of Bones series, but for adults. However, it was too confusing and every line contained overt sexual connotations-unrequited until nearly the last page-then it turned into full on porn. I will try one more in the series now that some events have taken place, and critical information has been divulged.

Sylvia, Please Do Not...

Sylvia Day, Please do not write paranormal romances. Stick to contemporary Gideon Cross & the Crossfire Series!!!! You rock those books.

The narrator did a fine job.

I could not get into this book. Paranormal is not this author's forte', by any means.

As a huge Sylvia Day fan, I feel so ashamed... But this book did NADA for me.

Looking forward to Book #3 of the Crossfire Series....YEAH Sylvia!!!

I couldn't finish

I know romance books are all about hero complexes that pair well with false Independent bombshell in distress. But this chauvinistic, profanity littered, rip off of other better novels was unbearable. Fours hours wasted.

unimpressed...kept waiting for it to draw me in...

I have read Sylvia Day before. I'm unsure if it was the dialogue and lack of character development that was lacking or if it was the performance that didn't work for me. I felt like some of the character voices were amateur imitations of John Wayne, Jack Nicholson, etc. It became distracting. Once that started to click with me the dialogue was lost. Interestingly it was the male characters that bothered me the most. Usually with a male performer it is the female voices they have trouble with. In an effort to make all the male characters sound different, I think he fell back onto imitations. I wanted to like the characters but felt they were very underdeveloped. At some points I felt lost and uninterested. I did finish it but only after everything else in my library was already finished.

Overshadowed by my dislike of the narrator

This is my second attempt at a Luke Daniels narration. The first one was "eh" - but I attributed that to the novel. His work was fine. But this time, I can not even get past the first 10 minutes of the story. I jumped ahead to see if I could take it later in the story, and if his overly macho tone would have settled down, but it just isn't working for me. I don't think he is a bad narrator. I just think his tone is wrong for me to listen to. I have to return this audiobook. I may try to read it instead, since I like the premise.

Sex, Sex and more Sex!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Nothing! This story was terrible. I could not get past the sex which was most of the story. Don't get me wrong, I like a good steamy read, but throwing in as much sex as you can think up does not make a good book. The writing was childish and boring. The only thing I liked was the cover.I love blue and red togeather

Has A Touch of Crimson turned you off from other books in this genre?

No! There are many good writers in this genre.

What didn’t you like about Luke Daniels’s performance?

What he was reading.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from A Touch of Crimson?

All the sex scenes.

Any additional comments?

This could possibly have been a good story, all the elements seem to be there.

Not what I expected from Sylvia Day

Would you try another book from Sylvia Day and/or Luke Daniels?

I have read the Crossfire series but this book is nowhere in the same league. Narration was fine, the story a bit silly.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not decided yet.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Luke Daniels?

The narrator was fine.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointed, very disappointed, I expected so much more from this author.

Any additional comments?

I will choose Sylvia Day books more carefully in the future.

Was glad it was over.

Too many characters. Too hard to follow. I usually live this author, maybe I will try again.
