Publisher's summary

That hot guy tied to Lissianna Argeneau's bed? He's not dessert - he's the main course! Lissianna has been spending her centuries pining for Mr. Right, not just a quick snack, and this sexy guy she finds in her bed looks like he might be a candidate.

But there's another, more pressing issue: her tendency to faint at the sight of blood . . . an especially annoying quirk for a vampire. Of course it doesn't hurt that this man has a delicious-looking neck. What kind of cold-blooded vampire woman could resist a bite of that?

Dr. Gregory Hewitt recovers from the shock of waking up in a stranger's bedroom pretty quickly - once he sees a gorgeous woman about to treat him to a wild night of passion. But is it possible for the good doctor to find true love with a vampire vixen, or will he be just a good meal? That's a question Dr. Greg might be willing to sink his teeth into . . . if he can just get Lissianna to bite.

Long time fan

Huge fan of this series. Never listened to the audio before. I have read every book so far of this family. I decided to reread and wanted to listen to a few. This was always my fav book. The slumber party. Hilarious. I like the narrator’s voice but what was up with all the one pauses. Very annoying.

Nothing spectacular

It was an OK love story. The story covers the span of about a week, whereby the hero and heroin manage to fall madly in love within about two days. Hmmmm. Ok. I get it. Vampires, werewolves are all made up and we choose to not only read about them but also enjoy the process and even wish it were true. Now on top of that adding a two day love story is a bit hard to swallow, especially when,…. Just kidding. Not about to tell you what happens but believe me when I say not much. It’s a very mediocre story mixed with ok writing.

A so-so read.......

I found the story lacking in the ability to engage my attention fully and as a result as I was listening and doing chores - if I missed stuff I did not feel the need to back up the book. The characters and story could have used developing and found it quite predictable at times though I did like the overall consept of the story. I am not sure if I would seek out another of her books to read.
As for the narrator, I thought she did a good job of bringing unique voices to the different characters.

I can't even get through the first chapter

This narrator is bad. I can't get into the book because it's too annoying to listen to.

Good not Great.

Since this is the first in a long series there were a lot of characters to learn and with the authur trying to make you like all the characters it was a bit on the eye crossing side. The story did pick up towards the end and may have potential for the remaining series. I will try the next one and see. The not thrilled with the narrator.

Victoria McGee - Horrible narrator.

I really don't like the narrator Victoria McGee, her voice is too controlled and she sounds out of breath most of the time. You need to drop her as a narrator. If I wasn't such a fan of the series I would never buy another book that she has narrated, she almost ruins the stories.

A mediocre, somewhat dated story

Would you try another book from Lynsay Sands and/or Victoria McGee?

Yes, but I would read the reviews of other listeners first.

Would you ever listen to anything by Lynsay Sands again?

Probably not unless there was a really good review about a new book.

Would you be willing to try another one of Victoria McGee’s performances?

Sure.

Was A Quick Bite worth the listening time?

It was one of those situations in which you listen for a couple of hours, get bored, but want to finish listening to see how the story ends.

Any additional comments?

I think the story was ok, however the story seemed a bit dated (main character wearing pannyhose/stockings, some use of slang, etc) Also the story got a bit cheesy at times (a bunch of women wearing baby-doll nightgowns). I'm sure the author has good stories she's written, however this was not one I'd reccommend.

Love this family

Would you consider the audio edition of A Quick Bite to be better than the print version?

No, but I think it is just as good in the story line. I was a little disappointed in the characterization of Marguerite. I did not picture her as sounding so opinionated and snobbish. I had her in my mind as more understanding.

What other book might you compare A Quick Bite to and why?

I think they are comparable to Kerrilyn Sparks vampire series. They catch your interest and make you feel like part of the family

Did Victoria McGee do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes, she made the different characters identifiable but as I said earlier I was not happy with her interpretation of Marguerite.

For a specific listener.

I did enjoy this book. This whole series is a little hit or miss with me but I think this book is a good representation of the rest of the series. These books are a "sweeter"vampire romance they don't have the zing of, say, The Black Dagger Brotherhood but definitely fall in the adult listens category. Ms. Sands has a unique sense of humor and I find her books quite funny but they are situational funny and verge on slap stick or silly at times, and the dialogue verges on corny. These are easy listens, for me.

As unlikely as the plot of this novel is I do find the characters believable, well rounded characters. Greg and Lissianna make a good team and although flawed lack the predominantly present alpha male and willing submissive characteristics often found in similar listens. Their journey from strangers to happily ever after is sweet and corny with a little action, a little suspense and plenty of loving along the way.

The narration fit the story and wasn't distracting at all.

This novel is definitely worth a credit but seems to be included in many audible sale lists, so it might be worth waiting to catch on sale.
