Publisher's summary

Olivia Kiskey needs a change. She’s been working at the same Nodaway Falls, New York, waffle house since she was a teenager; not a lot of upward mobility there. She’s been in love with Tobias, the cook, for the last four years; he's never made a move. Every Saturday night, she gathers with her three best friends—Peach, Millie, and Stacy—and drinks the same margaritas while listening to the same old stories. Intent on shaking things up, she puts her house on the market, buys a one-way ticket to Europe, and announces her plans to her friends... but then she meets Davina Granville, a strange and mystical Southern woman who shows Olivia that there is more to her life than she ever dreamed.

As Liv’s latent magical powers come to the surface, she discovers that having an interesting life is maybe not all it’s cracked up to be. The dark side of someone else’s magic is taking over good people in town, and changing them into vessels of malevolence. Unwilling to cede her home to darkness, she battles the demons of her familial past and her magical present, with those she loves at her side - and in the cross fire. Can the most important things in life—friendship, love, magic, and waffles—get her through the worst that the universe can throw at her?

Love this writer!!! Not so much the story

The writing is superb and I was very interested in the characters. I was not very interest in the story though because of the magic (fantasy fiction) aspect. I realize genre is very popular right but I hope to see other genres covered by March.

A surprise. A story of Magic and Betrayal.

This story will take you by surprise. Trust no one. The main character is innocent, bright, and full of dumb decisions. The villain will be someone she least suspects, you may or may not see it coming. This is a short tale of mystery, a fun sort of wistful magic, and a few moving life lessons of friendship & bad decisions.

This is a modern tale of a waitress coming into her own.

If you enjoy this book you may also enjoy: All books by Deborah Geary (her witch series is phenomenal), A winter witch, Born Wicked, Forbidden, A thinking Women's Guide to Real Magic, Tarnished and Torn, Scent of Magic, Maria V. Snyder's books, One Good Knight by Mercede Lackey.

I enjoyed the author and the book.

Great story and characters

My only complaint would be how the author made the main character so whiny. But thankfully she gets past it. And of course Amanda Ronconi is amazing.

Too much TSTL

I was a bit annoyed with Olivia acting Too Stupid To Live! You could see the twist coming from a mile away. I was annoyed and disappointed with Olivia’s lack of emotion regarding Holly’s death. I was disappointed with how juvenile Olivia’s attitude was through most of the story.
I’m happy the author was able to pull it out and wrap it up with a reasonably happy ending. I’m still not sure if I’m going to read book 2 thru mu Escape Plan.
The narrator was a bit flat in her reading which I think contributed to my negative reaction to Olivia.

Not Molly Harper

The story was just. . meh. I thought that since Amanda Ranconi was narrating that it could be good. There was no humor to the story. Don't waste your credit.

Fireworks: Sparkled then Fizzled

What did you love best about A Little Night Magic?

Best of all was Amanda Ronconi. Her voice is amazing!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

It had such potential, the story line was taking a new path in the witch genre. But the story became disjointed and fizzled in the end.

Which character ??? as performed by Amanda Ronconi ??? was your favorite?

Every character. This woman opens her mouth and I listen.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did laugh on several occasions. It helps to have a narrator that knows how to deliver a line.

Any additional comments?

I will read this author again. In fact, I like the premise of this book and would give a sequel a try. I like the life long friendship of the girls, the old home owned by Olivia, Elizabeth and her CCE's Waffled House, etc. Of course, it needs to be narrated by Ms. Ronconi
