Publisher's summary

A mythic warrior who'll stop at nothing to possess her....

After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he's waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. This Emmaline is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.

A vampire captured by her wildest fantasy....

Sheltered Emmaline Troy finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents - until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae - and their notorious dark desires - ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.

An all-consuming desire....

Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?

Mostly Positive

I've already read what's available of this series, and I love them enough to give the audiobooks a whirl. The only comment I really have to offer is in reference to the narration.

Robert Petkoff did an wonderful job with the male voices, and his accents were fantastic, but when it came to the female characters, I just didn't buy it. His voice is intensely masculine, and he really tried, but the women, especially Emma, came off sounding super breathy and and still male. I truly enjoyed his Lachlain (especially in the steamier scenes. Really, wow!) but women aren't his forte. Hopefully Mr. Petkoff can fix this, because in most areas his narration was amazing.

It's definitely not a deal breaker for me, but it was a bit distracting.

HOLY SHIATE!

SHE HAS AN ARSE MEN SHOULD WRITE SONNETS TOO.
This was a good story. It kept my interest from start to finish. Romance is not my normal genre, but I like to check out different things. I liked this for a couple of reasons. A lot of the book is from the man's perspective and the Valkyries. Valkyries are kick ass warrior women, you don't want to mess with. I thought it was an interesting study in a man's lust. Sometimes women don't understand how much men think about sex and how it affects our everyday actions. At the beginning Lachlain comes off as a real A hole, but by the end, Emmaline is the A hole. She absolutely tortures the guy, leads him on, just to say no at the last minute and he knows her body is wanting him. I lost count of how many times they almost had sex.

NOW SHE BELIEVES I'M A LIAR, PROBABLY BECAUSE I LIED TO HER
The beginning to this is a little confusing on how you should react. Lachlain knows that Emmaline is his mate for life. He has just been tortured for 150 years by vampires. Werewolves and vampires have been at war. Emmaline is a vampire. He is upset that she is his mate, yet he has no choice in the matter. He has waited hundreds of years for her and only her. He expected a big tough she wolf, instead he has this 5'5", 100 hundred pound, spoiled, puny vampire. She does not realize that she is his mate. This leads to a scene where he forces her to get naked and too stroke him, basically rape. It is confusing for him, for her and for us the readers.

HIS ERECTION WAS ABOUT TO RIP THROUGH HIS PANTS
Here are some things that made me think: vampires playing x-box, lack of privacy, immortality and how that makes torture so much worse, and the amount of torn clothing. This kept my attention from start to finish, it was very well written and it had an actual story or plot. I will continue the series.

The narrator was excellent.

This is the one you call in sick for

THIS is the book you fall in love in with.
THIS is the book you call off sick to finish listening to.

Lachlain is the guy you Stockholm Syndrome for.
With dedication.

Emma is most of us.
This is book you will call off work for.
This is book that will change your perspective.

Girls--this the story that will break the alcoholic. Call your sponsor.
Lachlain is the guy we all dream about. That we'd walk backwards on broken glass across the country to help.

Kresley Cole does it again, and Robert Petkoff elevates it with a perfect voice.

Amazingly entertaining and SEXY!

What did you love best about A Hunger Like No Other: Immortals After Dark, Book 2?

Everything about this book is amazing, I can't stand pnr books that are all internal monologue of the "never had they every felt so mush mush mush" I love the interaction they have in this book, the story line is awesome, and his aggression is so damn sexy I thought I might Die!

What does Robert Petkoff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Sexiest Narrator EVER, his voice, his accents, my sopping wet panties, oh lord I can't get enough of him!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The sexual tension between the two and his extreme alpha aggression was probably the best sexy time scenes I've ever listened to. And I love the random humor in the book, especially from Nix

Who doesn't love a rough and sexy half-man/wolf?!

What a great listen! I was hooked as soon as that rough Scottish accent set my ears on fire! All the reviews were spot on for Kresley Cole's novels--definitely a new favorite author to add to my repertoire. It's a pretty sexy listen, but no more than your average beauty and the overprotective, dominant bordering on crazy lust filled beast tale. I couldn't stop listening that's for sure. Narration was AWESOME, this guy really gets into character and made me hang on every word. My imagination is pretty vivid as I'm sure all avid listeners and readers have, so I was fairly riveted throughout. I'd say its the beginning of a world of interesting characters that I can't wait to learn more about.
