"A unique romance - it truly stands on its own!" (Sherrilyn Kenyon, New York Times bestselling author)
Robert Petkoff's narration - especially as Lachlan (Forest scene!!!)....
Lachlan - love the scottish 'growl' .....
Robert does an excellent job of Lachlan - in transition, "you're there" in the forest, quivering with the excitement!
Bit of everything... Wasn't too gushy, and 'twinkly' so to speak. I initially purchased the book because it had rave reviews about the narration, which truly did exceed my expectations. Well worth the purchase.
Yes, the story flowed very nice.
I liked the overall competition part.
Very good emotions and acting
Hunger games meets Fifty Shades
I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE. I LOVE ALL KRESLEY COLE BOOKS. THE NARRATOR DID AN EXCELLANT JOB WITH THE MALE VOICES.
LACHLAIN MACRIEVE IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER. I LOVED HOW HE OVERCOMES ALL HE WENT THROUGH AND LEARNS TO LOVE EMMA SO MUCH.
I DID LISTEN TO IT IN ONE DAY. I COULD NOT STOP LISTENING EVEN THOUGH I HAD ALREADY READ THE BOOK MANY TIMES.
This is the first book in the series, and it is excellent. I am totally hooked and a new fan of Kresley Cole. I went and got every other book she has on audible and paperback for those not on audible. Robert Petkoff does a great job narrating the book. Lachline, the hero, is totally hot, the sex was steamy, the story great! You will love this book!
The Scotish brogue accent of the main character.
The love scene that finally takes place...out of doors! It was hot, steamy and kept my attention.
Not in all parts. The male reader's intonation's of the female characters didn't match. It took me a while to get used to hearing his voice so that I wanted to continue to listen to the story.
Yes, I laughed at a few places of the story.
I am hooked to this story, and can't wait to download the next book!
A Hunger Like No Other surprised me! Kresley Cole's created a magical world. The reader is taken on a wild, hot ride with sensual and laugh-out-loud funny scenes. The story the best of paranormal romance. Lachlain and Emmaline hooked me from page one. Filled with vampires, lycans, witches, valkyries and wraiths, you never know what's coming from one page to the next. I can't wait to read the next installment from Kresley Cole in what I am sure will be a must-read series. This book made me a Fan!
the twist at the end about children
I've listen to book 2 and 3 very good
I laughed many times
Completely addicted to romance novels!
I have read all the novels in the immortal after death series, and this one is no doubt my favorite! Lachlain made Emma suffer a lot, but it let him understand more and more Emma's tender, kind and actually strong nature, which is soooo lovable. It is true she is his mate, but their characters are really compatible.
Mr Petkoff gave Lachlain a great voice, and it did enhance the hero. Nevertheless, the female voice, I feel really bad to say it, really sounds a bit like trans-gender.
Perfect language, perfect story, perfect sound for the hero!
I liked this story by the end of the book. At first, I was very wary. The beginning is rough but if you make it through to the end of the book the author explains this different "lore" world and it makes more sense.
After reading (on the Kindle) several more of her novels, I came back and listened to this one again and liked it even more.
Cole's writing is excellent -- fast-paced and snappy dialog with just the right amount of humor. The tension is credible (it is actually very clever how she's structured this world -- it pretty much guarantees credible tension) which is something I always look for.
And it is fun to see the characters come back in subsequent novels. Some of the books are better than others, and this is one of the best in the series.
For those new to this genre....the sex scenes tend to be more graphic than in other romance books, but seem to be on par with what I've read so far in other current "vampire" novels. If you like hot scenes, you will not be disappointed.
This was my first Kresley Cole novel and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. I'm an avid J.R. Ward and Lara Adrian fan and I didn't think that I would be able to find another author who could keep my attention, make my heart pound, make me laugh, and make me tingly in certain areas...if you know what I mean. The story line was great and much of the enjoyment of the fantasy was narrator. Although I didn't like his voice so much for the lead female character, his voice for the lead male character made me want to catch a plane to Scotland, stat! If you need a little mental getaway...you'll enjoy this.
