Publisher's summary

A mythic warrior who'll stop at nothing to possess her....

After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he's waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. This Emmaline is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.

A vampire captured by her wildest fantasy....

Sheltered Emmaline Troy finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents - until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae - and their notorious dark desires - ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.

An all-consuming desire....

Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?

I'm starting to sound like a stalker fan

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The man that has ruined me for any other possible audible out there... That guy... One that I can't find an actual way to write a simple "Fantastic piece ... Please Don't stop Do this EVER... Note Comment Blog or simple follow or Friend me Facebook page on... See, I know I sound stalker-ish and all… I am not, but I can’t help wanting others to discover the remarkable talents of... ***dum-da-dum- da*** Robert Petkoff.

What did you like best about this story?

The narration. Robert Petkoff sounds like an authentic Scott, full of the Gaelic brogue and doesn't stumble, falter at any noticeable part. I have listened to this series at least six times for each of the 14 Books in this series that he narrates for (the first book was done by two people, a male and female). It is very obvious how much time this narrator has put into thinking about each individual character's personality and persona. Even the female parts (especial his voice for Nuking Fux Nix - sorry if I miss spelled it- and Regan the Radiant).

They're female parts and it never enters into my mind that it is a guy narrating them. I can go on and on about this but all of his adaptations are spot on and perfect for ever single character in this series. And there is quite a few of them in the 14 books he narrates. I mean he accomplishes the attitude, personality, and never even stumbles on the dialog for the very sexy and vocal sexy scenes. He has literally ruined me for other audibles. If only he could narrate them all.

Which scene was your favorite?

Near the end of the book, I believe chapter 28, when Nix is on the phone with the lead female, Emmaline Troy, talking about Lachlain, her Scottish Lykae love interest and leading man.***Note the male is a warrior is the presumed king of all Lykae. He’s more than three centuries old. Fought savagely in every battle/war against the Vampire Hoard with his preferred bare fangs and claws. And, who has just escaped from a prison where he was pin by stakes in his legs arms and neck so that he would respectively burn over and over again just enough for his “Dogged” mortality to regenerate and live through that again and again for the last 150 years.*** “Nïx, I think I . . . like him.” When he wasn’t doing king stuff, they watched TV with him propped up at the headboard, her lying between his legs, her back to his chest. They watched soccer, which he loved. She watched the ball, everyone did, but he really, really watched the ball—much like he watched her legs whenever she crossed them.He enjoyed adventure films, but he especially liked science fiction, because, as he said, “Everything in those movies gets explained as if everyone else knows as little as I do.”So she’d made him watch every Alien movie. Most of the goriest scenes were accompanied by his dialogue: “Ach, that’s no’—that’s just no’ right . . . . Bloody hell, this canna be right.”Excerpt From: Cole, Kresley. “A Hunger Like No Other.” Pocket Star Books. iBooks. This material may be protected by copyright.Narration is perfectly delivered.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A paranormal story that will still have you craving for more.

Any additional comments?

Narration is perfectly delivered. I truly do love this series, the narration, and the creative and outstanding detailed world that Kresley Cole has allowed us to be a part of. You can tell there was plenty of research done for this series, in all of the 15 books currently in this series. There is never a repeat of scenes, or themes or couple pairing for the most part. Each book can be read as a standalone. Though, some might find some scenes objective or offensive, but I can honestly say, that at the end as a whole, they came about in a believable and respectable way.

I liked it in the end

Hmm, this was a strange book. I'm looking for a new PNR series to get lost in. I listened to the novella prequel which I thought was strange but interested enough to try this book, the next in the series. I still think it's strange. I liked it by the end, but there are some uncomfortable things going on in the beginning. The lead woman, Emma, is literally kidnapped by a wild lunatic Lykai and verbally and sexually abused for most of the first half. He thinks she is his mate, although she is vampire and he absolutely hates vampires. She is smaller, delicate, fragile, he literally has her contemplate suicide within 24 hours of capture.. Much is made of her condition and the fact if he claims her, he's going to rip her, kill her etc. He just escaped 150 of torture by vampires and wants to go home and he's bringing his mate home with him. He offers her a chance to leave but says he'll give her jewelry if she stays for the trip home. She does! Really? The story diminished for me with that one. She puts up with such abuse for jewels..smh. There is much ado about the claiming ritual on the full moon and how she will never survive, however, when the event comes, it is much less drastic than the hours of build up and dread. Overall, they are learning each other and there is another aspect of the story regarding Emma's father. Also her family of Valkyries who are growing on me. I will say though, the abuse was pretty harsh in the beginning. She is not so fragile and helpless by the end and there is some funny dialogue that helps lighten the story. When all is said and done, I grudgingly like this story and her crazy boyfriend shapes up so I'm going to stick with it.

Update: I'm almost done with the series. I want to say I love this series and this couple is one of my favorites. It all clicked into place for me as I made my way through each character's different stories. Each couple has some serious obstacles to over come and there is some truly funny dialogue along the way. The men have met their matches with the women in this series. I'm glad I stuck it out and I'm dreading listening to the last book. I also love the narrator. I could not imagine reading these on my own without hearing the narrator bring the characters to life, he's really amazing.

Narrator makes this book worth it.

Any additional comments?

In my listening opinion a good narrator could read a cereal box and make me enjoy it. This guy's got it.

Outstanding start to series, sexiest narrator EVER

Where does A Hunger Like No Other rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The first book of the Immortals After Dark series rates at the top of my list of excellent stories read by great narrators.

What did you like best about this story?

I love that the IAD series is set in a contemporary world, just below the radar of humanity.

What about Robert Petkoff’s performance did you like?

Where do I start? There isn't a voice or an accent he can't do. He is THE sexiest narrator I've ever listened to, and I've listened to scores of audio books.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Uh, mostly it made we want to keep a cold bottle of water nearby. However, yes, I did laugh and cry. When such a great male narrator can bring a sensuous paranormal romance to life, you just hold on for all you're worth.

Any additional comments?

I've already read the entire IAD series in paperback and ebook forms. It is one of the best ever written in this genre. Now I'm listening to the audio versions. Robert Petkoff is a rare find in the world of romance narrators. Lovers of erotic romance stories shouldn't miss this opportunity to hear him read A Hunger Like No Other.

The series is sexy, intelligent, clever, adventurous, romantic, and suspenseful. I love the world Lara Adrian wove around her characters.
