Publisher's summary

Twenty-six-year-old Gaby Barreto might be a lot of things (loyal, sarcastic, one of the guys, and a pain in the butt, depending on which family member you ask), but dumb isn't one of them. When her twin brother invites her to go on tour as his band's merch girl, she isn't exactly screaming at the top of her lungs with joy. But with no job opportunities pounding on her door, an ex-boyfriend she would still like to castrate, and no end in sight to moving out of her parents' house in Dallas, it would be dumb to say no to the chance of a lifetime.

Two bands, three continents, one tour. Spending the next 90-plus days with three beloved idiots and eight complete strangers shouldn't be a big deal, right? If only the singer of the headlining band didn't have tattoos, a great personality, and a fantastic body, and if he weren't so funny.... Let's be real: Gaby never had a chance against Sacha Malykhin.

Not my favorite by this author

This story had the slow burn aspect I’ve come to expect from Mariana Zapata, but that’s about all. The characters were all incredibly immature for being in their mid-to-late twenties. They read to me more like a group of 18 or 19-year-olds. There was a lot of toilet humor, slut shaming, and gay/trans jokes that were off-putting to me, and did nothing to further the story, other than to highlight the lack of maturity of the characters.

A bit of a let-down

What did you like best about Rhythm, Chord & Malykhin? What did you like least?

The characters were ok, but the story was a touch lack-luster. Compared to the writers other stories, this one was just bland.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Just so much was not developed. The male lead was interesting - could have done more with his character. The female lead too.

Have you listened to any of Carly Robins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

It was ok

Did Rhythm, Chord & Malykhin inspire you to do anything?

No, unfortunately

Sweet romance

This is a sweet romance that was a good find but definitely a good book for teens. No hard erotic or even close to hot scene in this book. Just a good feel good romance.

Good Story

This was a story that made me laugh throughout the entire book and is my second Mariana Zapata books. My only complaint is that this possibly could have been better as a dual narration. I had a little trouble with the male voice and that there were several male characters that all sounded the same and kind of forced. Other than that I really enjoyed the storyline and the banter between the characters.

Review

Loved the story! Can't really hate any book that Mariana writes. But the reader of the book was not suited for this. She made the character sound like she had a chip on her shoulder and made the men sound weak and little. Horrible voice for men.

Rocker Romance!

I'm a big fan of most rock romances, some more than others. This one is going into my top five and I've read a lot of them. This author is quickly becoming one of my favorite contemporary romance writers as well. I love that it's a slow burn romance and also love the friendship the two shared from almost the beginning. If you are expecting a sex scene on every fourth page, this isn't the book for you. It was pretty perfect for me however. Highly recommended!

Glorious slow-burn romance

Another great story by this author, where the story is told through amazingly chosen words and the romance is framed by a slow-burning attraction that comes together at the right time in the end.
Carly Robin's holds a fantastic performance as the sole narrator from Gabby's POV. I felt as much part of the story as if I was right there by her side at the "merch table".
Very entertaining and highly recommended.

4.5 stars

I absolutely love Gaby and Sassy! Currently, they hold the spot for my second favorite Mariana couple. The writing is great. As always, the slow burn is at the perfect pace. I listened by audio and thought that was great too. I enjoyed the nods to previous characters, it's always fun to catch the. All around a fun read.

Entertaining, but not her best book

Story was a little weak compared to her other books.
Narrator was very good with female voices. Didn’t like her portrayal of men’s voices

Gabby was the 'Sassy' one!

Great storyline and believable characters. Had to force myself to stop after a few chapters or I'd be up all night. Entertaining from start to finish!
